Won this last night in BWL (mage). Stack it together with Master Dragonslayer's Orb, and you're packing ALOT of +dmg. This is the one-hander with the highest +dmg you can get in BWL.

Only drawback is perhaps it has neither +to hit or +crit. The lack of spirit isn't too bad, as the mp/5 makes up for some of it. Staff of the Shadow Flame is still a better overall weapon. But this isn't far from it.

Just too bad it looks so ugly!

I'd say that this is definatly a warlock/shaman weapon. All though it does not have a high amount of stamina, the straight up +dmg allows the affliction warlock to do the most damage where crit (and most hit due to talents) are almost useless. This is good for the caster/healer shaman also, but I do not have a shaman and can't really comment on them.

It's also very nice for a druid, many of whom use a Hexxar/Lifegiver combo, you lose 1 crit for more +heal (and its +damage even), 8 int, 1 stam as well as the 4/5.

A very good weapon for both warlocks and mages. This combined with Master Dragonslayer's ORb (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=19366) or the offhand from Moam in AQ20. I would surely make use of it on my shaman if I had access to it.

If you're killing Chromaggus, you're close to Nefarian, and Nefarian drops a mace that you can get that's better than this.

DoTs are indeed affected by +spell damages.

I unequipped all of my armor and cast Rank 1 Corruption on a dire mottled boar. I then ran from combat, equipped several basic +shadow and +spell damage equipments, and cast corruption on the same boar.
The damage was increased significantly. While each tic obviously doesn't get the full effect, the overall damage through the entire duration had increased to the full effect.
It also affected the damage of my Drain Soul, which is channeled. Immolate also benefits in direct damage and DoT, but doesn't get double the effect.

In short: Mage priority = Warlock priority. Both should be given an equal chance.

Yes, obviously +damage affects DoT's. But not by as much as direct damage spells, DPS-wise.

I know this isn't a huge point but some idiots here are talking about how it's better for DoT's because they have a longer spell length, and that's just dumb.

The damage modifier applies proportionately to pre-talent spell length, with 100% at 3.5s.

Assume you have +1000 spell damage, which is only possible with incredible gear, ToEP and the ZG charm, but it makes the math easy. Then, one corruption does roughly 1700 damage over 18s, basically an additional 50 or so DPS.

A shadowbolt, however, does an addition 850 damage over 2.5s, or an additional ~340 DPS. Base shadowbolt DPS is only 200.

Because of the proportions of +damage, any spell that takes 3.5s or fewer to cast will recieve the full DPS benefit of +damage. Any spell longer than 3.5 seconds will recieve less DPS benefit the longer it gets. This is why no mage should ever use arcane missiles unless the target is immune to their elemental school.

Conclusion: Yes, DoT's get benefit from spell power, but, at least in terms of DPS, not nearly as much as DD spells.

And yes, we know that locks mostly spam SB in endgame instances, so DoT's are kind of an afterthought, really.

any caster would want this who doesn't see things like this alot. It is very uber but the priority goes to mages and locks. A priest can get better because +healing only is a hell of a lot more than +dmg too. Mages and Locks get priority, any good guild would tell you the same.

Totally agree. Mageblade is great and ez to get but this dagger has a large increase in INT while not losing too much S.Dam, and it's a lot faster. I'm a mage but I still like to stab ppl, especially pvp. It looks cool also.

The reason DoT users like to get +dmg is because DD users can get +crit, which does absolutely nothing for DoTs. So while yes, +dmg does more for DDs (DPS-wise) than it does for DoTs +crit does infinitely more for DDs. Which is why people to tend to think +dmg=DoT, +crit=DD.

this is huntar loot for sure. a huntar with this and the mageblade in mainhand would have godlike arcane shots. and if they got like 2xring of spellpower and manaigniting cord the arcane shot would be even better. the +healing stats is GREAT for pet mending.

A priest/druid/shaman rolling for this should be slapped across the face.

Just won mine on my mage. Didn't expect to win, but bid really high and woot, I won! This is quite the beauty of an item and I won't be upgrading it for anything for a long time. Got spellpower on it within 5 minutes of the run ending.

Now time for those darned Netherwind Gloves to drop. =)

Nice speed and adds stamina - clearly warrior's tanking weapon. And some intellect that makes warriors clever. Definately an MT weapon.

Bah. Aaaaaaaaalmost got this.

We were doing BWL, were almost on Chrom, we started talking about this dagger........ The only warlock with more dkp was gonna pass for me, while a Mage who could need it, had less dkp. I was gonna replace my stupid blue Blade of the Moon.

So I outbid the only other mage who seriously wanted it. I was almost dancing in the room........ and then our best equipped Mage decides to bid 1 more than my max. >.< For him it was only a sucky 10 dmg improvement.
Ok so we caught up with the present. I'm almost crying. He's a guildie, so I can't hate him..... =/

BAH.

Edit: I was pretty upset when I typed it.
I KNOW this is how it works. I'm just whining about the way the mage got it..... like "hm I have more dkp and other mages say I should get it, let's do it".
Whatever.

Agreed, very ugly, but very good. Clearly a warlock/mage/shadow priest weapon. Hunters can go die in a fire.

Got this on my mage, server first for about a month, very low drop-rate and kicks ass. Sharded an Azuresong Mageblade after getting this, personally I don't like crit because it spikes my aggro which is never good in BWL.

+30 Spell Dam enchant, +Brilliant Wizard Oil = +130 spell dam and +1 spell crit, one handed, thankyouverymuch Blizzard. Kthx.

I am a lvl 60 Hunter on the Server Tichondrius and got it on our first Chromaggus kill!

Currently I'm dual wielding Azuresong Mageblade in my main hand and Claw of Cromaggus in the offhand both enchanted with Spell Power.

This combo is definitely worth the trouble for a hunter! My Arcane shot now hits for an extra of 164 dmg !

Great dagger for dualwield hunters if you ask me

Wow... druids.. gimme a break.

Mage/warlock (priests should have 'diction or at least staff of domi AND plenty of experience.)
Then priests, b/c that thing is undeniably awesome.
and THEN druids ffs..
But.. i'll leave it to my guild's judgement and trust that whenever the time comes where it actually has to be decided, it goes straight to mages and warlocks.

Druid- Okey guys. This is the last boss before Nefarian. Nefarian has a fair chance of dropping a weapon with MORE +damage and healing, so why even waste your DKP on this?
Warlock - show this baby some love, it's yours=)
Mages - Same as above
Priests - Benediction, and Lok'Amir. What else do we need? Sure it would be nice if all druids rolled on Claw of Chromaggus so we could get Lok'Amir. BUT it's not fair due to the other DPS classes.

Druids, Priests.. Stick with Lok'Amir.

Dude, it's as much of a priest item as mage/warlock. Priest do something other than heal. And it does say healing, so why the hell not? Some people care more about looks than stats, and it really isn't that much less in stats (106 +Healing and 64 +Healing AND Damage).

About classes: I hava a shaman, Mage and Priest myself and could easily make the following conclusion:

Shaman - Very useful
Priest - Very useful
Mage - Very useful
Druid - Very useful
Warlock - Very useful
Hunter/Rogue/warrior - Not useful

I am a shaman myself. And i think this is the best 1h weapon this far. On second place Lok'Amir only cause it lack mana regen, otherwise it would have been better. Yes, mana regen is the most benefit stat from items for shamans.

My priority 1h:
1. Claw of Chromaggus (4 mr + high heal and stats)
2. Lok'Amir (high heal and stats)
3. Fang of Venoxis (low heal, but 6 mr and medium stats)

About 2h... Not worth it unless you're on dps duty. So save these to the priests, druids and other caster which needs em more.

Reason why 1h + shield are better than 2h = 2 enchants instead of one +the extra 2800 armor is really nice too ;).

I.e. +heal on 2h weapon or +heal on 1h weapon and 9 spi on shield... which do you prefer? ;)
However I prefer 2h with my mage/prs cause they cannot get the "shield enchant".

If Lok'Amir drops before Claw of Chromaggus I will take Lok'Amir instead, but only if it drops first. If none of em wanna drop... then i get fang of venoxis.

About which healing gear you should aim for depends on your other equipment and on your personal taste of stats. I.e. do you prefer mana regen/int/sta/+heal/spi or +spell crit?

There is a reference to Staff of Shadowflame, and it's spec's. there is a correction to be made.

YES! wow are you guys kidding me with this 20 more dam/heal thing, 4 MANA REGEN is debatebly about the same to me as a druid and i would take whatever drops first seeing as how both can go many many moons before they drop again. Im next in line for this or lokamir and i really consider them = to eachother and dont care what one i get as long as i get onE!

druids bid on this if u see it, screw the dps classes we save you with this!

Druids & Priests (& Shaman right?) can use Lok'amir il Romathis, the 1h mace from Nefarian (+84 healing & damage)

So i think this item is for Mages & Warlocks. Both classes need +damage.

I have a druid/shaman/mage/lock, and all i can say is a mage would benefit from this the most by far.

However it comes down to your guilds loot system, if its an auction type, then whoever has the most dkp and is willing to bid it, deserves this the most.

I'd take it. Then again, I'd also take Shadow Flame. It's not all about taking the best weapon, or saving up for that 3% Nefarian drop, It's about taking what you can get, while you can get it. As the Mage with the top DKP at the moment, if a piece of Netherwind drops I happen not to have, I'll take it. Hoarding DKP never works out quite the way you want it to; you always end up missing out.

i think its teh best choice as a shaman (MC BWL ZG) b'cause nef's mace has no mana regg on it and as spirit is nearly useless as shaman u need manaregg on your equip. Most fights take a lot of time and so MaxMana is not so usefull for shamans so get much +heal and +manaregg and nvm teh +int (also +22 int enchant) +55 heal should be best (yet). all other caster's should get sotsf or sth like that its realy nice 4 shamans.

edit: I forgot Jin'do's Judgement (+55 heal on it) is also a very nice weapon (easy 2 get and you dont need red dragonscale protector oder raggna's shield)
