This is a highly overlooked item. Most casters enjoy taking the Touch of Chaos from ZG: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=19861 but I believe this is a much better pickup. Only losing "12" damage from the ToC you gain +7 stam and +12 int which in my opinion is much more effective. You gain hp + mana and chance to crit with that INT.

Given the choice I would go for this before the ZG wand. Both would be nice and have their utilities in different areas. Obviously the ZG wand would be a bit more helpful in BG's due to the increased spell damage, but that's debatable. I love the +Int and Sta from this wand much more and you only lose what? 12 Spell damage? That's not a huge loss imho.

Comparable to https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=29915 -- anyone who is thinking about buying this might want to wait till the expansion comes out and get this quest reward wand. It's one of the first quests inside of the Outlands.

Wand do crit, but I'm not certain if INT or AGi or any stat effects this or how.. certainly they dont seem to be effected by anything as far as attack power or what not..

+25% wand damage from 5pts in the skill is really huge if you consider that wands ARE your dps as a priest if you are a healing specc'd priest. You don't have TIME or MANA to waste on smite or mind blast most of the time. I can pick off mobs with my wands and finish them off if they are hurting which means fewer people die in front of me or need healing/shields.. I do this while I regen mana for more healing and shields etc.

95.6dps is sick dps from a wand, when you add 25% on top of that you're about 125dps.. now you say a mage pulls 200dps, thats only if he doesn't get interrupted, has mana etc. I can sling wands in PVP from max range to right next to me. I have killed many a warrior and rogue with my Crimson Shocker, and I would love to get my paws on this. Horde on my server would be crying, believe me.

You don't become the king of DPS with a wand, but you get the ability to have sustained dps, without mana cost that cannot be silenced, or disarmed. Since as a priest I can heal too, I get some bodyguards, heal them, and wand.. it really does make a difference.. esp on heavy armored targets. A mage will out dps me, certainly but a mage can't heal everyone around him.

I think this wand would best suite a Disc/Holy priest, especially with the +25% damage talent for wands.

Disc/Holy priests main source of damage is SW:P and Wands. They don't have mindflay, their mindblasts are pretty weak, smite takes too long to cast and doesn't do good damage nor is it mana effecient, and holy fire is a joke.

Sure this would be a fantasic wand for any class that can use it. But a Disc/Holy priest would make much better use out of it, because they would actually use it more than their (gimped, because no shadow) damage spells.

I'll probably pick it up next time it drops. Most of the priests in our guild are shooting for Essence Gatherer, and apparently our mages/locks want Touch of Chaos instead.

So really, that wand gets a lot of hesitant responses. I'm a priest, by the way.

I dont know what you are talking about, "you cant compare it with sulfaras", Heard of wand specialization? Even though its not as much its incredible damage.

If I would use all my dkp for something like this, its for PvP or something like that, since its useless in MC, Onyxia and so on, I rather go Cold snap with +20 frost dmg.

If a priest wanted it in my guild, I would ofc, let the priest have it, since they need it more than the mages, why? INT

95 dps is nice. but lets see - when do i shoot with wands? onyxia? wait - ony is imune to fire.
if it was nature dmg or arcane it would be godlike.

+6 spelldmg? as a warlock i use skuls. if i was a mage i would use the alterac reward.

the stats are nice tho, but again only a small improve over stormrager.

all in all this thing suckz for being the best wand ingame :/

Sadly, this isn't a very good wand for a DPS caster. Although if I had the chance, I'd probably take it, mainly because even if all the priests had one, they'd still be rolling on the next epic wand that actually has a decent amount of spell damage to it.

+6 spell damage is crap. The wand DPS is nice, but the only time I wand is in BWL when I want to do frost/arcane/nature damage. And this is fire, so GG blizzard crappy itemization priest loving !@#$%s.

What most non-cloth classes don't seem to understand, is that casters have next to no Ranged Attack Power/Agility, a bow with 96 DPS would be the *!@#. But this is a wand, it's damage is gonna stay like it is, not gonna be modified by stats(or not enough to make a difference anyway, unless you're some sort of wierd agility creeping priest or something)

But yes 96 DPS is very nice for a wand. Too bad it can't be used at the place where you most need it in the game(MC)

tahst why Teir 2 has no fire resist, all shadow and ice resist.

wrath has 40 FR might has 34.

This is the highest dps weopond ive seen so far. I think this is more of Priest wand becasue mages dont wand as much as priest and the +6 damage is nothing.

Exactly. Mages never use their wand until they're absolutely out of mana at which point they're mostly useless anyway. So... this is a priest wand! Priests reserve all of their mana for healing, so if you're not up on the healing rotation or no one that you are responsible for healing is being damaged then all you do is wand. The +dmg and healing on this thing is fairly negligible, but the int makes up for the lack of +healing. Anyway, until I find something better I'm definitely rolling on this.

Wand DPS is:

-mitigated by partial resists (which other ranged weapons do not have)
-Not affected by any ammunition or quivers
-Not affected by agility or ranged attack power (ranged attack power adds DOZENS of DPS, even if your gear sucks)

The result is that, while wands may have very high DPS stats, they will not even come anywhere close to the DPS of an equivalent "true" ranged weapon, even with wand spec.

You can't compare wands and ranged weapons according to their DPS like that because wands and other ranged weapons play by two totally different sets of rules.

This is old news, but meh

Im 2 arcane 49 frost speced mage with roughly 570 dmg added ... at the point where im looking at balancing stats and that wand would be good to have from that point of view.

When your raiding you need balance of hit regen stats and dmg, survivabilty paramount, so ill stop beating a dead horse, but its a solid wand (yes i have a band of sulfas).

As level 60 warlock with many epics, I'm not rolling first on this. I mean it's so little improvement compared to stormrager. I rather get some nice T2 set piece. I will roll for it of course if no one else, because it's really nice wand, but still as total improvement compared to other BWL items, nothing special.

Who truely cares about ranged attack DPS? it has

+12 Intellect
+7 Stamina
Passive: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 6.

which in itself makes it worth having equipped.
