You need the Blood Scythe from ZG first to collect Bloodvine. Scythes drop from Jinxed Hoodoo Piles, along with dolls for your class enchant. Bloodvine can drop by the way from just about any herb in ZG, including Purple Lotus, as well as dreamfoil and other herbs.

This is quite an useful herb, used in a lot of leatherworking, blacksmithing recipes. A couple of examples:

It's pretty rare these days, few people are running ZG anymore. I'm wondering what's a good price to charge for the bloodvine, 100g each maybe! Gold is cheap in TBC.

BC has ruined many good recipes as nobody raids Molten Core or ZG anymore so Core Leather + Bloodvine are no longer up on the auction house.

Core Felcloth Bag takes 8 bloodvine, 16 core leather and some other reagents and I just realised where this stuff drops so theres not alot of chance of me getting it (After collecting ALL of the other mats, even the leather /groan)

Guess ill just have to try and hit lucky with the auction house or trade channel.

Warlocks ---- Hold onto any Core Leather or Bloodvine you have! They are the most expensive parts of a Core Felcloth Bag (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=21342) but its much cheaper than an Ebon Shadowbag (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=21872) if you can get them.

It drops from mobs too ... that is good because i want some to make an alt gear:
Blood Tiger 2 set and i hope it drops enought till i manage to get teh needed 6k rep to get the second recipe.

If a warlock spends that cash for Core Leathers and Bloodvines other than just gather 6 shadowcloths it might be for playing old school since shadow cloth is a lot easier to gether than 16 Core Leathers for example (myself and some guildies rescently did an entire MC run for 32 core Leathers

Can anyone tell me if the scythe is needed for this to drop from mobs or is it just related to gathering from herbs?

My friend wants one for Blacksmithing and as BC ruined old world instances there's nothing on AH and no-one to run the instance with! I was thinking if it dropped from mobs without the scythe then it could be farmed from the first few mobs, with the ability to run out the instance if we get into trouble, and reset the instance when we run out of the easier mobs!

BLizzard nerfed SIlithus to encourage questing there, and this is needed for BS'ing the rewards from there, so perhaps they could also make this easier to get. Many players are new, quest straight to 70 and never even hear of Zul'Gurub or MC, so getting any group is near impossible.

All that programming they did on old world end-game - all wasted cos no-one does it anymore, it's such a shame!

Uh, tauren's racial increases it by 15, not 5. (I have a tauren with 315 herbalism, no enchants, if you doubt me)

i'm guessing this usually goes to guild bank, but i saw one person on my server(khazgoroth) asking to buy one for 35g. another person quickly piped up and said he'd pay 50g.

dont know if they ended up finding someone to sell it to em.

since the naxxramas patch the price has multiplied about 5-10 times. so expect to pay around 50-120g unless you are very lucky.

the reason for the high price is that these are used for new craftable nature resistance armor from cenarion circle.

I just got the blood sythe, and was wondering if it was possible to solo pick these in ZG as stealth runs for Druids or Rogues? It seems like all the herbs that grow in ZG are guarded by mobs, but if there were one or two that werent, you could go in there, pick it, then reset the instance, and repeat. Anyone tried this yet?

Actually, you can reset the instance, just that the bosses obviously will not reset.

Two rogues can farm this very easily. One rogue will agro the mobs guarding a node, sprint and vanish (he can unequip most of his gear if he's worried about dying / repair). Meanwhile the other rogue who has herbalism and a blood scythe picks the herbs. If this is done well, the herbalist has a 5-10sec window to grab the herbs, restealth and move to safety. (Herbalism gloves with the +5 enchant are recommended to avoid failed attempts) This works best if both rogues have a Master of Subtlety build and the talents that reduce cooldowns on dodge, sprint and vanish, and also have some +stealth gear to get to the nodes without incident (nightscape boots are easy to get). Even better, if the other rogue is a miner, the team can also hit the metal nodes for souldarite. At the end, you split the hoard and enjoy the ez money...

I don't know if it can be collected like normal herbs, but it seems to be a bloody version of wildvine.

You need an item called a 'blood scythe'

Blood Scythe drops from jinxed hoodoo piles. then when an herbalist with this item opens one of the herbs around, they will get the normal herb as well as a bloodvine.

This item can also drop off some mobs, but with less frequency.

Gonna try solo farming herbs in zg for this aswell as dolls as a hunter, Ive found bloodvine in herbs once I think but the droprate seems riddicously low but I guess thats for every purple lotus spawn around the world.

They can be found off some of the mobs in ZG when u have the the "Blood Sythe", and also can drop off herbs gathered like swifthistle does.

I also got the item to pick it up for the pile..

I have yet to find this thing as a herb, the only time we got it was from a mob.

You will need a drop from Zul'gurub that will let you find these in some of the normal herbs in Zul'gurub, I got the item from a jonxed hoodoo pile or whatever they're called

It dropped a few times from mobs

:s every time I got it (I'm alchemist) because people thought it was for potions

good thing I read this now :p So alchemists dont need it al all :p lol. People don't read allakhazam a lot ^^

So... as of classic(phase 3), i'm a bit confused, these are required for the core felcloth bag, the pattern is in the game, but is Bloodvine a completely unobtainable material until ZG is released in phase 4? seems uh... not bright to put the core felcloth bag pattern in long before being ever able to make them...
