Nice all-around healing stave for either a priest or druid. Although priests can get Benediction, the NR is just too good to pass up for those venturing into AQ40.

On another note, for a druid I would recommend getting a high int. stave such as the Staff of Dominance or the Shadow Wing Focus Staff, and switching it out with this one once you have used up the extra mana.

One of the best Healing + NR Staffs out there, Most of the time recommended for Druids scince Priests should get their Benediction/Anathema. This drops off of 1 of the Emerald Dragons, Outdoor Raid boss's.

tbh this staff is good for both priest and druid, however I agree with the statment that priests get benediction. If you are able to take this dragon down you are able to take majordomo down too :)

OMG Im so tired of jerks..... Its not about how much you can heal in the smallest timespace, its how long you can keep the tank up.

ffs idiot if you are in MC there are no way you are using the highest rank greater heal, your mana will be gone in no time.

Instead you get +healing gear and use a lower rank greater heal.

Im a druid and I dont think I am a better healer than every piest, sure I can outheal a few but thats because I got decent gear (cenarion mainly with a few stormrage etc)

If you want to be successful in healing you gonna need both priest and druids. Easy as that

First off, let me say I'm a druid that has this. Also I have the SoD. Since I just got the SoRG, I have yet to get it enchanted, and it will be the +55 healing enchant when I have the materials. After that, I'll be replacing the +55 healing enchant that is currently on my SoD with +22 int. SoD will be my mana pool staff for the beginning of a fight, and after about 10-15% of my mana is gone, which will happen pretty fast, I'll be switching to the SoRG to start regening mana.

Why do so many people downplay the value of +mana items? They look at the +37 int of the SoD and think it's all that, but on long fights you need to regain that mana somehow. I'll always have my innervate regardless of my weapon, unless I give it away (and I judge it pretty well I think... sometimes I give it to myself, other druids that might be MT healing, priests, etc, it just depends on the situation). Mana regen is what keeps you going for the duration of a long fight, and this staff is one of the best +mana weapons I've ever seen. Only Amberseal Keeper (+12) and Jin'do's Judgement (+14) are better, that I know of in +mana, but this one is probably the best overall. I almost never go OOM on trash mob pulls, except for lab packs in BWL, so high int rarely matters to me. I guess people are just shortsighted though and don't realize that on average, a boss fight is minimum 5 minutes long, and that this thing will regen 660 mp in that time, equivalent of 44 int, making the weapon 60 int equivalent. On Chromaggus, double that 44 and you have the equivalent of a 104 int weapon with either +84 healing or +139 with enchant.

Put this all together and you'll see why I'm more effective of a healer with this than with the SoD.
1. 15% mana regen during casting talent
2. 15% mana regen during casting 3/8 Stormrage bonus
3. +50 mana on my equipment
4. +590 healing after the enchant is done (up from +546 with enchanted SoD)
5. I'm alliance so I can get +36 mana from a paladin with improved wisdom
6. If need be I have innervate every 6 minutes

From JUST +mana, including buff, I regen 1,032 mana every minute (equiv to 68.8 int), 5,160 mana in five minutes for the average boss fight (equiv to 344 int), and that doesn't even start to count my spirit regen.

I won't even begin to argue whether druids are better than priests btw. I know good and bad players of both classes, and keeping your assigned players alive is first and foremost. Spamming heals to get to the top of the healing meter is moronic and doesn't help your raid and I've seen people do it to prove a point from time to time (not sure how that proved anything just yet though). I can and have been at the top of that chart before, but I'm one of the most conservative healers in my guild, spamming rank 5 healing touch (out of 10 ranks) until I need to go higher. My overhealing % has been consistently at 22-25, which is incredibly low compared to most people I've seen (some as high as 46%!), and I've even been as low as 15% before. My heals count when others are wasting mana and I still find myself up at the top, and giving away that innervate more often than not now.

I believe the real reason this staff will find itself in the hands of a druid or shaman more often than priest is because by the time this drops, most priests in the raid already have their Benediction, not because the stats scream druid or shaman. And when a GM, who's main is a priest and puts huge value into +mana gear himself, says give this to a druid without offering it to priests, I think it speaks for itself.

While druids do have fewer spells at their disposal, there are several healing styles that druids use.

There are many that use Rejuv as their #1 heal and spread it around a lot, covering as much of the raid in a very efficient manner. With how much +healing I have now, mine ticks for 390 per, or 1,560 for the duration. I can put that on 10 people in 10-12 seconds counting global cooldown. On fights where lots of people are taking consistent damage, this helps a ton. I do this probably 10% of the time.

Other druids sit there and spam low rank Healing Touch. This is my style of healing 80% of the time. I do this anytime I'm tank healing, using rank 4 and 5 a lot, and switching in 6 every 4th or 5th cast to help re-top off. I heal 1000-1200 on rank 4, a 2.5 sec cast, and about 1500-1600 on rank 5, a 3 sec cast (resto with imp healing touch). Rank 4 is the lowest rank we should EVER use since rank 3 and below have a hard cap on +healing bonus because they were learned before level 20 (read up on druid forums for more info on this, Drakkisath has some good threads), so faster heals are not really possible.

The last kind I know of are the ones that sit and wait for the big hits with their rank 10 healing touch. They continuously are casting, but cancel over and over allowing for spirit regen this whole time. This is really the only method of healing that druids have for getting to use their spirit regen, but only 1 or 2 max should be doing this method. If more are doing it, there is a good chance that a tank won't be topped off when needed. I do this fairly rarely, only on a few fights in BWL like Nef and Firemaw where I'm timing on shadowflames and on Chromaggus in the last 20% where he'll hit frenzy frequently.

I don't really consider Regrowth to be a good heal in most circumstances. It is only useful when timing is critical, like when a clothie is AoEing and is likely to die fast AND my NS is used already. It's highly mana inefficient, despite criting for over 50% if you have imp regrowth. If you see a druid going OOM within the first 30 sec of a fight, they are using regrowth only and haven't learned how to mix it up effectively. Hopefully you don't have lots of druids doing this, and if you do, expect people to die a lot as they are taught differently since they most likely aren't going to be of much use until they get the groove of a new healing style. Regrowth isn't a healing style, it's a mana burn style.

My guild has never done healing rotations. It simply has never been needed, from Luci to Nef. Even on long fights, I have rarely ever had mana problems, partially because I value mana regen and +healing items over all other stats. I can rank down on heal spells and still be very effective, using little mana, and have good regen all the while. Our priests haven't really needed this staff either because on the hard fights they have my innervate to look forward to.

There are a few reasons why druids have a hard time dealing with spirit regen. First of all, many are continuously healing in some way, either rejuv or low rank healing touch. The few that can do the high rank "saving heals" will be able to spirit regen, but they are a minority and have to be damn skilled in finding who needs that heal which takes 3 sec to cast (or 3.5 if you have no imp healing touch). Remember, our heals are much slower than yours meaning we cannot just sit and wait for a heal to be needed in most cases. Druids have to be very proactive in their heals, knowing that a hit is about to happen and be casting before it falls.

I'm a priest and I have Benediction. With that said I would roll on this staff over any other character if I could. I would do this because I currently need lot's of +NR to keep from dying in AQ40. This staff is godly for healing but that +20NR is the true reason why I'd roll for it. I already have +17 FR staff with +60 healing for Naxx when that comes. In conclusion this staff is a healers staff. If you're doing ZG/AQ then that NR will come in handy and if you can roll...roll.

Most of the shamans with 2h'ers use dredgers, I wanted to get it but I was fine with observer shield/aurastone hammer combo(i intend to get malistar/red dscale down the line, our guild already up to nef).

Best part of the staff for shamans, no need to respec, but the staff is very healbot-like, if it was reduce to be like +60 to damage/healing i'd be all over it.

This staff is hardcore. This is the druid's equivalent of Benediction IMO, and +55 healing makes this staff a pretty tough one to beat outside of Naxxramas.

I actually really like the graphic too, didn't think I would at first, but it's unique and very cool looking. Fits with the whole druid thing, although I'd be embarrased to have this as a priest...

Stick with your Benedictions, unless all other druids/shamans who want it, have it.

ubah staff. as soon as all the droods in my guild have 1 i'll be next in line. imo it's the perfect companion to benediction as between the 2 they pretty much cover all bases for a priest :)

the added bonus is that once you've worked out how to kill the dragons they're a piece of cake. in fact the hardest thing about them is getting there b4 a rival guild does!

it's also nice that they're not that rare - a few days ago we had 2 drop on the same day

This staff does not really compare to benediction. The mana regen on this is nothing really. Priests have their opportunity for BEnediction, I'd say pass this to shammies and druids because this will be on of the better healing staves they'll be able to get their hands on, seeing as any guilds that do these dragons probably farm MC/BWL on a regular basis.

I see people talking about this thing not having much int on it or whatever, but I think people underestimate the value of the mana regen of it. Currently I have the Staff of Dominance (yes, LOVE it), and also have this staff (I'm a lucky bastard). I haven't gotten my enchants fixed just yet, I have +55 healing on the SoD for the moment. What people have to realize is this...

Figure out what is a typical boss fight, the only time that having high int even matters. I find that 5 min is a pretty good average duration. So the formulas for this would be:

60 sec / 5 sec intervals = 12 intervals/min
11 mana / 5 sec = 11 mana / 1 interval
11 mana * 12 intervals = 132 mana / min regen'ed
132 mana * 5 min = 660 mana for a 5 min fight
660 mana / 15 mana per int = 44 int on 5 min fights
44 int + 16 int = 60 int for a 5 min fight

Ok, so now you have a staff that is essentially 60 int on any fight where having lots of int even matters. Sure you can say that mana regen sucks, and it very well might on trash mobs honestly. I'd rather have int gear for that, and +healing gear for boss fights. But now that I have the SoD AND the SoRG, here's what my intentions are. I will be removing my +55 healing enchant on the SoD and replacing it with +22 int. This will be my starting weapon for boss fights. After I go through approx 10% of my mana pool, I'll be swapping back to SoRG since having high mana pool only matters for the beginning of a fight, not duration (the reason I like having AB, Kings, and MotW for the Garr fight despite losing the buffs later). So I will be starting with a +59 int weapon, and switch to a regen weapon with much much more +healing (going for +55 healing on this weapon) which has the equivalent of +60 int.

Consider even longer fights too. What about long fights like Hakkar, Onyxia, Chromaggus, Nefarian, etc? Hakkar I have innervated up to 3 times (we screwed up but recovered... typically do it perfect, but being able to recover is what I feel puts us above typical groups going thru ZG), meaning a 2 to 4 min went by before the first innervate, and 6 min per cooldown. Yes, that was a long long long fight of 20-22 min. In 20 min I would have regen'ed the equivalent of 176 int, which is absolutely staggering. I didn't have the SoRG for that, and I was fighting for as much mana as I could, barely having enough mana to have a last second heal a few times.

Anyhow, yes I'm a resto druid that LOVES +healing gear over +int. Currently have +535 healing, down from +546 for switching from SoD with enchant to the SoRG (will be up to 590 after enchant), have the 15% mana regen talent, the 15% mana regen Stormrage 3/8 set bonus, and a total of 50mp/5sec of regen gear. On long fights I almost always give up my innervate to a priest or druid that needs it (they <3 me for being that conservative) and still being top on healing charts for the long fights that matter. Rank 5 Healing Touch ftw :)

This staff blows benediction away when it comes to longer fights( basically every fight in bwl). Benediction is still one of the best staffs for short duration fights tho

This is a very nice druid staff indeed, but, the Nature Ressistance might be good for a priest aswell, even though i think Druid(shaman) should have abit higher priority on this, personally wan't it.

I have a priest. To be perfectly honest I'm pretty sure I wouldn't take it because it does seem like more of a Shaman/Druid staff. I would stick with Benediction/Anathema but I have yet to get that yet considering I'm only 28.
