Really nice offhand dagger (or main hand if you dont got any better) for rogues. Place a +15 agility on this, and you have 1.5% dodge, 60 armor, 1% crit, 37 AP, 1% hit.

Not a bad raiding set bonus, either. Assuming you have the stereotypical 15/31/5 thing going on, 5cp and Relentless Strikes means that you actually gain energy from SnD, which is always good.

Takes a bunch of work to get, sure, but it's worth it. (Or at least, it was before it became easier to get the rank 14 daggers, which are just plain old scary).

This item is quested, not dropped.
It works in the same fashion as zul'gurub set items...
you need scarabs (coins), idols (bijou) and "quiraji" items. The first two will be dropped by trash mobs and various chests spawned in AQ 20, the latter drop from bosses.

Thats a list of what is needed for each item and each class. Each class gets three items, a ring at honored reputation, a cape at revered, and a weapon at exalted.

There are various ways to get cenarion circle reputation:

- do quests from moonglade
- kill twilight cultist mobs
- kill abyssal mobs, templars dukes and lords
- turn in twilight encrypted texts, abyssal crests/signets/scepters.
- after the gates open on your server, some quests named "field duty" will be unlocked. I don't know for sure, but i believe they will give Cenarion reputation too.
- kill stuff in AQ.

Getting the dagger is quite long process.
First off, the quest itself starts at Cenarion Hold, Silithus.
You'll learn that you need items from Ruins of Ahn'Qiraji (AQ20) which is a 20-man instance, aimed for slightly better geared people to accomplish.
You need total of 10 different scarabs (drops often, green), 2 idols (rarish, blue drop) and Qiraji Spiked Hilt (epic, drops from bosses).

In addition to that, you need to obtain exalted reputation with Cenarion Circle which can easily take a month to do if you don't have extra cash on you.

This dagger is actually very good.

I'd say it's comparible to Perditions/CHT combo.

If you have a DFB with this, +15 agi on both, you'll be getting 68 attack power, +2 crit, some stamina, and you'll be dishing out hella damage.

It's a compelling option for dagger rogues.

Ok I've decided that this dagger is better off hand than CHT. It has +hit instead of +crit, and 23ap vs 20ap plus some armor/dodge/crit from the agil, and slightly higher dps. If you have the 3 piece set you also have +10 energy on every SnD, Making your overall dps alot higher with the extra backstabs you'll get to throw in. The only downside to this dagger in off hand is the speed, 1.80. A faster off hand allows for more chances to apply poisons. I think that the benefits from this dagger would outway that however.

After reading this please keep in mind I'm talking about pve damage, and I think CHT is better for pvp than this dagger. And also remember I'm comparing this as an off hand dagger. We all know its not terribly great as a main hand dagger.

The Set Bonus really shines when you have Relentless Strikes ... +25 energy on a finishing move that costs 15 energy, that's like performing SnD and getting 10 energy for your trouble.

Just received this dagger last night!

Alot of ppl complain that getting rep to exalted for Cenarion is not worth this dagger. I beg to differ. Unlike ZG where you must kill mobs and pick up / buy coins and bijous to gain rep, for Cenarion, ANYONE can obtain exalted merely by farming the Twilight Cultists non-elite mobs. Fastest way by far is doing all Silithus quests and accumulating encrypted texts either through killing mobs, or purchasing them on the AH. I was able to reach exalted in about 1 month's time, and I only play 3 nights a week! Having a high-DPS class (e.g., rogue) definitely speeds things up since you can solo farm for texts, but having a buddy also helps to summon elementals for bonus Tactical quests.

OK - the "tough" part may be obtaining the Qiraji Spiked Hilt. But surprisingly, most guilds that have ZG on farm status should easily be able to down the 1st 3-4 bosses in AQ once you know the strategies. And the drop rate of the hilt is GREAT - +30% of Moam and Ossirian, +5% off other bosses. Get to exalted, and there won't be many ppl rolling against you. ANY rogue whose guild has beaten ZG can now obtain a dagger that out-performs (MH or OH) Core Hound Tooth (2nd best dagger in MC next to Perditions) w/o stepping foot into a 40man instance! It just takes time - what else do you have to do before the Expansion comes out? :P

On the SnD convo... If you're a rogue and you're saying that SnD isn't worth the energy you've lost your mind! It's more important for a rogue to keep SnD up than pretty much any other thing you can do with combo points. In case people haven't noticed.... attack speed is sorta the running theme on rogues. The more we hit the more likely we are to proc one out of the 15 things that rogues get off of hits. If you're wearing DM/SC you get the 25 energy, if you're wearing perds (or other chance on hit weps) you get that chance, not to mention poisons or enchants. Also seeing as how we only have so much energy to work with at a given time SnD allows us to keep up awesome white dps between spells. Even when I was sword spec. I SnD more than I evis. My white damage was a significant amount of my dps and SnD helped with that. On daggers evis is a lot of energy and what dagger rogue wants to waist their energy on that when they can do a bs.... so why not snd it costs next to nothing and lasts a long time.

And whoever said that you can't BF AR and berserk w/o pulling agro you really don't know what you're talking about. If you vanish and pop all 3 you own the damage meters and don't pull agro. I am in naxx and I almost always pop all 3 at the same time. Apparently you just don't know how to watch your agro, I'd work on that some more...

This is a really nice dagger, but I think I'll get a Qiraji Sacrificial Dagger instead of this...
This dagger is better than the sacrificial, but I think the differences are not worth the work I would have to do...

Surprise! You don't do frostbolts with a dagger.
Stuff about to-hit differs quite a lot for spells and weapons. See wowwiki for details.

I've got this and it's a pretty good weapon. I put the 15 agil on it and I'm usually doing 5-700 regular BS and 1500 crit BS's with it. Got the Core Hound Tooth as my off-hand.

Compared to the gutgore this is a way better weapon. You have stats and a + to hit with the same speed and higher DPS where the gutgore has a proc.

It's DPS is a little better than CHT, but it's speed is not... It seems this dagger, like the rest of the Veiled Shadows gear, is more PvE than anything. I feel the CHT's +AP and crit% is more PvP. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Just a Heads up, the information on the required Scarabs on the top of this page is wrong. Its not 5 Stone Scarabs its 5 Clay Scarabs. The page about the Quest itself Dagger of Veiled Shadows is correct.

This item as well as all the other aq20 class weapons were originally not unique, but was changed due to an exploit which allowed a class that could dual wield to use 2 of the same weapon. This made it so you could use the set bonus without either the ring or the cloak.
