Be warned, using this counts as a gigantic dispel. It will attempt to dispel every magic effect on you, which means the dispel can be resisted by talented debuffs (Such as Contagion) and it *will* explode UAs on you.

I've 1-shot myself before by dispelling 2 UAs off of myself with a Spellstone.

Yes this is certainly a liability against UA warlocks. But it isn't hard to just glance at what dots and debuffs you are removing before you pop it, so just don't do it.

The class it really pwns against is Shadow Priests, who rely on a lot of debuffs to make their relatively few DoTs have real power. Start off by popping Shadow Ward then start to DPS them. This will absorb all the shadow dmg they do while they get all their dots and debuffs on you. Then pop the Spellstone to remove everything. Continue to DPS them hard. By the time they have you dotted up again they will be half dead (or more) and they have yet to inflict any dmg at all to you. Healthstone if any dmg does get through and kill them off. Then you have a rather unhappy and completely dead shadow priest, and a warlock who hasn't been scratched by the encounter. Ofc if all your CDs are down then it's a different story, but that's always the case in PvP.

Another nice effect of this Spellstone is that it gets you out of Frost Novas and other mage slowing effects.

This has some use for encounters like Maiden where you get the holy fire debuff. (Magic)
Some people would prefer the wand, but it saves time and effort, for the dispellers/healers at least.

Not sure about any other instances of where this would be extremely useful to replace your wand for. (excluding PvP, naturally)

That is a awsome macro. Too bad there is a 10 sec wiat timer when u equip the spellstone in order to use it. Cause if there wasnt u can go back and forth!

N.B. these stones now are equipped in the Ranged slot (wand slot).
I tried this years ago and it was a useless offhand, but recently found out it's now a "ranged" item.

It's usefull to get rid of all MAGIC buffs (not poison/curse)

a few ideas of when to use these stones:
- solo: get rid of that annoying 30min debuff.
- PvP: obvious debuff advantages
(10sec equip-cooldown so equip before combat. beware! Unstable Affliction)
- groups/raid: some specific encounters
Karazhan:
Maiden of Virtue: Holy Fire
Nightbane: Distracting Ash
Prince Malchezaar: Shadow Word: Pain

For PvP.

One of the most useful debuffs to remove with a spellstone is Silence, you can remove MM hunter's Silencing shot, a priest Silence, the Silence components of Spell Lock and Counterspell.

Although removing dots and such is useful, removing silence at a critical juncture can also be priceless.

As stupid as this sounds I noticed the *Use* function early 70s :S A shadow priest friend of mine had to point it out and that´s how I got to finally beat him.

Since then I have gone everywhere with my Spellstone. I have tried it against many different classes/specs. This is indeed best against a Shadow Priests. Works well on warlocks unless they are UA (Unstable Affliction). Also helps in battleground considering everyone is out there on their own. Using this against a rogue I think would be completely uneffective, I thought it would work on poisons but it doesn´t.

The only PvE instance I have also found it useful is in Karazhan:
