Any idea where is this recipe from? It's bop so should be farmable like all other major protection potions.

Confirmed. They drop from Abyssal Flamebriger in the southwest of Blade's Edge Mountains.

They are imune to fire so it took me 50 long kills as a fire mage to get it.
Be careful with the 70 and 71 elites that patrols the area...

What a terrible drop rate. I've been killing them for 2 hours and haven't gotten the recipe yet. I'm calling it a night.

For those who plan to farm them, they are CC'able. Freezing trap, scatter shot, concussive, wing clip, and silencing shot (to stop their 3 second cast meteor) all work just fine. As a marks hunter I was able to farm them while leveling a 62 pet just fine.

I was flying by the camp when I decided to try killing a Abyssal Flamebringers. To my surprise, the BoP recipe dropped on my first kill. Recipe is confirmed to be dropped by Abyssal Flamebringers. If you are going to farm for the recipe, please be away of the patrolling elite guards. They are pretty nasty to farmers would be :)

was expecting a long farming session so i took like 60 waters, and as a holy pally it took about 1.5 mins a mob.. i guess i was lucky to get it on the 7th kill :)

The mats are crazy for this but i found its REALLY needed in Kara for maiden of Virtue fight. Primals plus Kara = 10g a pop. Plus it took me 4 hours of farming. Even with mats thats 2g to make. The new Fire prot pot of WoW.

Very easy. Ground it out in about 20 minutes as a holy Paladin. Throw up Fire Resist Aura and have at it.

There's a lot of herbs (Mana Thistle!) around too, so that's a nice bonus to grab while grinding this one out.

Mobs have 3 basic abilities: Fire meteor for about 800 damage, usually resisted down to 600 with 70 FR. Fire aura, does 140 damage every 3 seconds. Usually resists to half damage with 70 FR. Melee attack, hits for about 200-300. Pretty weak.

I killed about 20 Abyssal Flamebrigers to get this Recipe. Good to have and helps for my guilds Maiden attempts.
There is also a rare herb node in the area which has about a short respawn rate. I picked the herb about 3-4 times before I got the recipe.
Watch out for the elites walking around. Was grinding this recipe with a hunter helping me so the elites weren't much of a problem.
If you die, the corpserun is reasonably long so try to stay alive.

I really wouldn't bother with this recipe, unless a better purpose than downing the Maiden comes along.
550 kills to get this crappy thing.
A guildie farmed for 2 days to get - you've been warned! :)
Also the mats are 1 primal life, 1 primal water, 1 imbued vial, not what's listed above - seems to be per pot too

Took roughly 30 mins to farm for this. Not the easiest task as a pure destro-fire lock but i just cursed shadows and hit a couple shadowbolts.

I was farming out there for 6 hours last night prolly killed about 300 and had no luck. I know that these guys drop quest items now also and I'm wondering if that pattern is still on their drop table.

If someone has gotten this drop post 2.1 patch please post so I know to continue farming there or to figure out what mob this drop has been moved to. Thanks.

I'm confirming the Flamebringers still drop these in 2.1. Not only that, when you get Ogri'la honored you get a quest to banish demons: the Flamebringers count towards that so you can kill two birds with one stone (which is exactly what I did).

Currently (6/28/2007), the Abyssal Flamebringers are lootable for only about one second after they die. They don't leave a normal corpse. This recipe is not worth farming until Blizzard fixes this bug.

Since only alchemist who doesnt have it learned already can see the recipe drop, the % showed here is not really accurate.

You have to use WoW's Armory which give:

Abyssal Flamebringer Extremely Low (1% - 2%)

Okay, been farming about 2h 20min without a pause. Also killed many fire elementals. No recipe yet but ___10 greens, Depleted Mace https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32671 , 3,5x primal fire, other non-gray stuff (flame spessarite, essence of fire, 3x depleted crystal focus and alot of apexis shards) and 11g 76s for gray items.
(>For herbalists: 11x mana thistles and 17x dreaming glorys.)

*sigh* 4hs, still nothing.. so unless u`re extremely bored (and have alrdeady full epic gear, 310% speed mount and many lvl 70 alts) i recommend not to farm it.
Farming this is just called "Pure Pain"

man, I did that banish demons quest every single day from the first day i got it to ogrila exalted and i still haven't seen a drop. I've killed a minimum of 10 Abyssals every day for the 15 demons I need. Whew, what a crappy drop rate.

Indeed, drops from Abyssal Flamebringers, got mine at first kill though, pretty lucky i guess.

Was doing the daily Cooking quest (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=11379 ), which requires to be near a Abyssal Flamebringer's corpse to cook up the Demon Broiled Surprise.

Got this recipe after bloody 307 kills. I was starting to loose faith in that !@#$, and it's not like the optimal place to grind, considerably far from each mob to the next, they're immune to fire (doesnt make it easier to mages, and not fire mages at all), ~9200 hp each, and a bunch of elites including a boss walking around the area.. /sigh

Can make major shadow, arcane and holy protection potion tho. The rest recipes are pretty damn hard to get, unless maybe nature

Took about 4 hours of farming but it finally dropped when i was there. I got company and wanted to cry cause I knew i would go insane after all those kills. Its hard for me cause I could only use shadow spells. I needed plenty of food and water. but when we were about to give up, it dropped. LoL i almost wept with joy. I did scream, lol... good luck. Wait till u see the mats. Should sell for more than 2.5 g since u need a primal water/life. This is the F Uber recipe for Maiden of Virtue in Karazhan. Sellin this one for 12g a pop.

this is truly the worst recipe i have ever farmed for...im a fire mage and they r ofc immune to fire ;)
took me 300+ kill and i got ganked my the elite pats/boss around 15 times...got it now..thank god!
so be patient..not everyone gets it from their first kill..grr

note: it only drops of the lvl71, but since they share same spawn place as the lvl 70 it might take several kills wich make it feel like you are grinding forever. It took me like 20 lvl 70 kills but only 3-4 lvl71 before i got it.

Got it after 81 kills. The 70 elite walks counter clockwise around the area so just walk clockwise as you grind and you will see him coming. He still got me 5 times grinding this recipe though :(

131 kills (74 lv.70s & 57 lv.71s) & finally dropped on a 70. Was not fun either, glad to get this done. As a rogue it was hard, they can't be poisoned & can't be easily stunned, only kidney shot stuns them (if they don't resist).

Take heal pots & plenty of food. I used some greater fire prot. pots a few times but found it worthless. it'll wear off fighting just 1 & I still have yet to find the major fire prot. recipe.

Fire protection armor prob. would help here alot too

I had a similar experience where a priest and I farmed this for about 3 hours and killed about 200 of the mobs. Since I'm a warlock, I enslaved the elites and used them to kill the fire-immune mobs. Went out for a break to check out the other forge camp, came back and it dropped on the first kill. Strange indeed.

There does not seem to be a corresponding Cauldron for the Holy Protection potion ... (?)

After picking this up, I made a few thinking the cauldron would become available, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.

I am told that this doesn't exist, and I am told that it does exist. I tried to farm it for several hours on a couple different days and it has not dropped ever. I would like definite confirmation as to if I am farming for nothing.

Oh yeah, it does exist.

I farmed for about an hour yesterday and didn't drop, mainly because the looting on the Abyssals was bugged. Fortunately, the patch came out today and it fixed that error. I farmed for about 30 minutes today with a buddy and it dropped. I've made 15 so far and no cauldron. It took about 25 for the Arcane potions. I don't know if the cauldron is even possible for this potion.

Just killed my 308th flamebringer and still no friggin' drop for me. Was grouped with someone for farming and right after I left, it dropped for them. Jerk kept linking it to me too. Before you ask, yes, I have the required alchemy, etc. Pain in the ass to farm as a holy priest too.

I already killed about 300 now (6hrs farming) of these abyssal thingies, and still no drop. Tough i have to say, i killed 120 arcanists to drop the major arcane, and only 1 shadow council or w/e to drop the shadow potion recipe, so i still think it's pretty balanced.

Drop rate imo: 1%-3% (according to my & other players' posts/experience)

So, is there any use for holy protection pots outside of Maiden or PvP against a Pally? After 2 weeks of farming for this I'm getting pretty sure that it's not worth it.

30G to make this? .... mats are maybe ten on Turalyon server...Primal Lifes are only like 5-7G, 1G 80S for the Vials,3 Mana Thistle for 3G...

Go farm your primal lifes in Skettis if ya are a herbie...youll have one every three kills off the Talonsworn forest ragers, plus the mana thistle drops offa 33% of them. Easy Potion... Great on Maiden.... :D or that annoying pally that just won't die and keeps consecrating my undead ass.... lol

As a resto shaman, I soloed the abyssal for my cooking daily. 1 kill, 1 recipe. I wasnt even looking for it. Good thing im a pot spec alchemist. :D

The easiest way to get this is to make sure you do your daily banishing quest given in Ogri'la on only Abyssal Flamebringers. On my 2nd day, it dropped, after a total of about 23 kills.

Blood elf holy priest, I got this after an hour of farming it, only went through 21 drinks too, go get em guys, all this really takes is patience and maybe a good talkative guild to keep ya entertained.

Holy hell, could there be any more worthless of a pot? Made 60 of these pieces of crap before I realized there wasn't a cauldron for it. So... maiden? HA! If you need pots for that, you shouldn't be in kara, and need to go farming some pvp welfares. Hey... I got some holy protection pots for those priest/paly arena matches... oh damn... they don't work in arena... anyone want a paperweight?

This took me and a friend I drug along about 20 min and about 30 kills to get. If you pick herbs, this is pretty cheap to make, you get a ton of primal life.

I'll admit it's not the best in the world, BUT for those people who run Kara and arent as geared out as they wish to be, its a pretty good thing to have.

I have done my dailies here for 2 months strait and i have not had it drop yet. I am thinking this does mot exist. I know it is about useless but I would like to get every potion just in case.
