24 stamina = 240 health... thats alot for a neckpiece, sure theres nice stuff from AQ 40 that has similiar stats but there arent any neckpieces with +block or shield value. Its a nice neckpiece and if i were a MT i would want this over a +defense neck. With most tanks already having plenty of defense from other gear it would be pointless to add even more when you could have shield block.

Yeah Gluth's Collar is one of the few with shield block% and like the only one with pure BV, but it's not like way better then any of the others, it just comes down to what stat you're lacking on deciding which neck you end up picking.

personally, i dont think you can compare this one to the Mark of C'thun or the dragonslayers neck. The thing with this one is that it has shield block, which seems to be the new thing. taking into account the rest of the gear dropped in naxx, 450+ defense is easy to get, so I would happily trade that 10 defense from the cthun neck for shield block. after all, once ur defense hits 425, any more is just icing on the cake

You would trade +1 hit +1 dodge +10 def from C'thun or even 14 agi 7 def from Nef's head neck for +3% block? +block is probably already your highest avoidance (assuming you have Styleen's, so adding more block is just going to hinder you if it puts you over the avoidance cap, let alone taking the dodge/parry/block away from the defense or the inherent skills.

Not sure about this neck item. Doubt I would spend dkp on it at this point. A lot more "better" upgrades to save for now.

Don't forget that the expansion will be pushing your defense cap to 70*5 = 350. And considering Naxx is doable with current-day defense levels in the 450's, you can sacrifice a few points for other desirable attributes.

Well with Dreadnaught and a few other Naxx items you're already going to have like 35% shield block, so might as well go for more dodge and the hit%, I like C'thuns better, but it comes to preference.

There's no avoidance cap. It's a myth.

I thought the avoidance cap is 60%, (dodge + parry + block + mob miss rate) = 60%

I don't know if shield block is all that useful for a neckpiece, given if warriors go for their set piece, you will have a solid 30% chance to block. I'll get Mark of CTun, cos dodge > block, and %hit is very uber awesome. not to mention +10 defense.

If there's any 31 point protection paladin who wants this for PvP, I say let him take it. Since the MT with full dreadnaught will have a mad ton of defense 32.72%block, 15.72% parry and 19.97%dodge like this baby

not good on Bosses, but i`ll use it on trash coz with full +block value equip it is possible to have about 350block value + 225from trinket so.. imp s.block, 30%+ block and let trash from aq lick us ;)

the shield block value is whats so valueble. cuz if u have 30% block 3% more issnt realy noticable u take less dammge. but if u block 30% of the incomming attack and u block now 15 hp more.

well in a fighgt where u block hundreds of time thats a kick ass ammount of dammge u dont take.

so the 3% block aint that important its the extra 15 dmmg u take less. and ofc the 24 stam wich is ALOT!

I actually think this is a pretty awesome neck IF your defece is more then 440 while wearing it. I know others have said master dragonslayers and c-thun's are much better but I currently use master dragonsalyer's with a def of 448 and am thinking of getting Gluth's. Discuss.

I really don't understand this neck.

On the surface, you would look at this and think "Oh cool, if I have near-max'd Defense, I could swap this in instead of Master Dragonslayer's." Not so.

With the tank point system at http://www.maxdps.com/warrior/tank.php?order=tankPoints, MDM is almost 50% more effective than GMC. But you can't always trust rating systems that other people come up with, so just look at the trade off:

To swap GMC in place of MDM, you lose 1% Dodge (14 Agility + 7 Defense = 1% Dodge), .28% Parry, .28% Block chance, plus the crit/crush reduction. And you lose 28 armor.

What you gain with GMC is 3% greater chance to block, and 15 more damage points mitigated with blocks.

Now I'm not going to do the complicated exact number crunching, but let's say that a tank wearing this will have roughly 15% of the bosses attacks land as Hits. This neck would basically turn 3% of that 15% into Blocks now, meaning 12% of attacks would land as hits. So essentially, out of 100 attacks, you will have mitigated an additional 45 damage with Gluth's Missing Collar (3 blocks x +15 block value = 45).

Now imagine you had MDM on instead. Let's say the Warrior has 9,000 armor and the boss attacks for 5,000 with melee attacks (before mitigation, etc). The 9,000 armor would reduce the 5,000 damage attacks to 1897. Now add MDM to the mix, and you gain 28 armor (14 agi x 2 = 28 armor) giving you a total of 9,028. Those 5,000 damage attacks are now reduced to 1893. Now that reduction also will work for any crits and crushings. Now if we factor in the 15% of attacks that land as Hits, you'll have mitigated 60 damage over 100 attacks. And that's not even factoring in Crits and Crushes...the 28 additional armor will mitigate those.

So really, there is no point in the game in which Gluth's Missing Collar will EVER be better than Master Dragonslayer's Medallion on bosses. And please note, my explanation was very rough simply for demonstration purposes. I'm not going to take the huge amount of time to do precise calculations just to prove the same point. So don't bother pointing out if some number was incorrect or some calculation wasn't precisely accurate - the overall point was accurate.

Suffice it to say, no matter what your Defense rating, Master Dragonslayer's Medallion will always be better. The 14 Agility alone beats the 3% Block and 15 Block Value. And then once you pile on the benefits from the 7 Defense, it just destroys Gluth's Missing Collar.

Of course, Mark of C'Thun destroys both of them. Get that. Either way, I hope they buff Gluth's Missing Collar. It's really dissappointing.

Kinda trashy for Naxx gear. Nice stam, but still not as much as Master Dragonslayer's neck from Nef. No +def, and +block% isn't nearly as interesting as +dodge% or +parry%. Nice to go through Naxx for non-upgrades to year-old content.

its not that bad. on encounters with a high chance of crushing, its very usefull. u cant shieldblock every attack and it also cost u threat when u spam it all the time.
