This weapon is excellent. The Master Swordsmith Lionheart Executioner has a similar proc:

LE: Chance on Hit - 100 Strength for 10 seconds.
KC: Chance on Hit - 120 Strength for 30 seconds and heal self for 270 to 450.

The KC proc is far better than the LE proc because it gives more Str, has a heal bonus, and lasts THREE times as long. Even if the chance on hit for the KC proc was 1/3 the chance of the LE proc it would still be better. Apart from the DPS difference this weapon is superior to the Lionheart weapons from Master Swordsmithing.

Had this weapon crafted about a week ago and it has since seen much combat in the Arena, soloing/ grinding, and in conventional Battlegrounds. So here is a small review;

The weapon DPS is quite nice. 108.5 is respectable. You certainly won't be replacing it for DPS until Kara or maybe a Gladitaor's weapon. That said, it's a smidgeon too fast for mosts taste. Personally, 3.3 is fine for me as the only damage you lose on hits is in the damage range. Still, a little slower would suit more people better.

+50 strength for melee classes is +100 attack power. Quite considerable. 100 attack power added on top of this makes for about 7 more DPS, so thats about 115.5 DPS with the strength included.

+37 hit rating is equal to 2.34% chance to hit at level 70. It's quite considerable, as this is roughly a third the amount you will need to never miss while raiding. Level 73 bosses take about +7% chance to hit, I believe, in order to have a 100% hit chance. After this, about 60 more hit rating and you'd be golden =)

Finally, the proc. What can I say? It is *excellent*! The rate is about 1 proc per minute, as I said before, and is extraordinarily powerful! Heals for about 350 on average and it *can critically heal*! max I have gotten is about 550 healing, which is awesome! The length of the buff is also very nice. 30 seconds means you will generally have finished the job when the buff runs out. 1 ppm with a 30 second duration means that the proc is equivilant to roughly 60 passive strength. Lookin at it in the long run, 110 strength is quite considerable =) One more thing to be wary about; the proc is a "magic" effect, meaning it can be Purged by Shaman and Priests, as well as stolen by a Mage (had that happen before =P) Be wary of such casting classes, even though they will not likely notice the buff.

A few enchantment suggestions; personally, I am going for a Savagery which yeilds +70 attack power. Other choices could be +40 spell damage for paladins or +35 agility. While the proc seems like a Crusader would be nice on this, I would highly advise against it. Crusader is an "old-world" enchantment, meaning that it degrades in power as you near 70. At level 70, it has ~40% degredation on it, both on the heal AND the strength bonus.

On crafting; I personally paid 75g per Primal Nether and an additional 20g crafting fee. This is what I expected, so I wasn't put out. It's always good to be polite and especially to offer to tip more than asked to keep on the crafters good side. After all, you are handing him nearly 1000g worth of mats and a week of grinding!

A final note; while this weapons DPS seems a little low, I would urge you to consider the fact that white DPS is not everything. Sure, you could get more stats and a little better white DPS with a Gladiator's, however in my most humle opinion, the proc is invaluable. Having this proc on you near constantly in battlegrounds makes it an awesome weapon, not to mention the fact that the heal yields great returns in the Arena where such a heal could very well save your game. I would not abandon this weapon unless I had a tier 3 blacksmithing weapon lined up =)

Got this 1 week ago, on my paladin, and Im pleased with it.
With SoCommand it eats through mobs like a hot knife through butter.

Bought mine for 2500g, and Imo, well worth it.

Like prev poster, I also switched from BS to Engi, but think Ill keep engi so I can make the new engi-goggles, some of em are real nice.

The proc itself is real nice, but havent enchanted it yet. Was thinking about Crusader, even though its only 60 Str at lvl 70.

Btw, is the proc-rate of Crusader nerfed @70?

This is an amazing weapon, It procs like crazy, personaly I would rather have that proc then 40 stam (400hp). Simply because it procs alot, ad the proc normaly heals me for more then 400. In arena's / bg's with a savagry enchant I can do insane Damage, And I take down healers fast (Paladin, Shamen, Druid, Priest whatever it is!) I would really prefer it if blizzard would take some of the Hit and add some crit, also it needs a new graphic :P.

Just to clarify an earlier post: the base version of the Lionheart Blade does not have a strength proc like this does. It does however have:
-3 str
+42 agil
+5% resistance to fear

I would love to have this as a warrior. If you have mining/alchemy you can start collecting the mats yourself and just pay someone the 300-500 for the 2 nethers and have them make one for you.

to my opinion as a MS warr Lionheart sucks yes it had 5% resist but as Deathwish/Mortal strike it isnt needed i like the 250-450 chance on hit heal it works out VERRRY well for pvp yes

Good for 2H fury. It has all the stats you need. 37 hit rating, a long lasting proc that gives you a monstrous 240 attack power (for a total of 340 before savagery), and a 3.3 speed that goes down to 2.65 or so when flurry is up.

Definitely consider this if you are fury and don't have the hit gear to support dual wielding yet.

A wonderful sword but just too damn fast, seen from perspective of a retribution paladin. Taking into account that both Crusader strike and Seal of Command, the 2 basic damage dealers in retridin's arsenal, rely on weapon's max damage, the poor damage range with this particular weapon make it a less appealing choice. This is, of course, partially addressed by higher strength stat and an excellent proc. Also, the weapon completely lacks any +crit chance/agility stat, which is so important for a retridin due to triggering vengeance stacks.
Consequently, i would always go with either Thunder or Lionheart series if being a blacksmith or alternatively https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31322 .The significantly higher max damage in the latter, combined with much more balanced stats and a very useful proc for mana users make it a superior choice in my personal opinion, especially for healing capable dps builds.
That being sad this still remains an excellent weapon and a viable option...

No, damage range still affects your instant damage. A 2h-weapon with a slower speed will *always* hit harder than 2h-weapon thats faster, assuming they have the same DPS.

Weapon normalization was put in because people would choose to use slow weapons that were *substantially* sub-par, just because of the slower weapon speed. This was a problem. Basically what they did was make your white damage using this basic equation: (DPS * weapon speed) + (AP * constant)

Before normalization, the constant in the equation was based off of the weapon speed. Now, the constant is normalized to 3.3 for 2 handers, meaning that the ONLY difference you will see in a 3.0 speed weapon and a 4.0 speed weapon, assuming the same DPS, will be the difference in damage range.

Sorry, this is wrong. The equation for instant attacks WAS:
damage = base_weapon_damage + (weapon_speed * Attack Power / 14)

it was changed to:
normalized_damage = base_weapon_damage + (X * Attack Power / 14)

Where X = 1.7 for daggers
2.4 for other one-handed weapons
3.3 for two-handed weapons
2.8 for ranged weapons

Basicly, what this means is that a 2.0 speed weapon will hit JUST as hard as a 4.0 speed weapon on normalized instant attacks. White damage will be bigger on the 4.0, but that's not what we're talking about.

In my opinion Lionheart is MUCH better than Khorium Champion!

It's too fast for a warrior, and a ret paladin too.. And gives only strength, Lionheart gives agility too. If I was you, I would'nt spend much gold to buy this!
Rather get mats for a Lionheart... Or arena points for a gladiator weapon

Probably the best Ret Pally weapon in the game until SSC. Not shabby for warriors in terms of soloing given the high proc rate of the healing. All in all a good weapon, especially considering the mats won't cost you more than 600g or a few days of farming.

This weapon is excellent; as an arms warrior i would say that this is a good alternative to one of the PvP two handers if you like to grind gold--not honor. Lots of strength and self heals are an excellent stat. Shame the dps is only 108.5, but it's made up for by the high speed (for a two hander). The proc is good but as it only heals for 450 at the max don't rely on it to save you from larger mobs as it doesn't prot quite THAT often. For the rest it's excellent; it doesn't look too exciting but stats are what matter. Just keep in mind that the mats are expensive (especially the primal might). All-in-all this weapon serves very well :)

Im Currently leveling a 70 paladin and I plan on making him a master swordsmith for wrath of the lich king. I may be talking to myself here but... how phenomenal would this weapon be with a crusader enchant. Just a thought :P Could anyone tell me if the procs stack? If they do that would be next to Amazing. Although 90% chance it will be nerfed :P

This is a terrible weapon for everyone who can equip it and should not be used. For Warriors and Paladins both, Season 1 Mace is by far a better choice, as is Stormherald. Also worthy of note, is that it's a sword, which is inferior to a mace for a warrior in any PVP situation. For PVE, you should be Dual Wielding or using a shield.

I know none of the information is official or finalised yet, but based on how it currently seems they will work, this seems like it would be an excellent weapon for tanking Death Knights. Relatively quick for a 2h, it has a built-in Crusader-like effect, and hit rating is usually immensely hard to stack for tanks in general.

It's almost a shame the level cap is being raised beyond 70, meaning that it will probably never see much use in this kind of role :)

After about a week of farming I got the mats together and had a friend craft it for me. Im an MS warrior and though it is slightly faster than what I prefer, it really does fit my build well. The proc is basically a beefed up crusader so a +15 strength enchant works really well. I recommend it to any warrior looking for a REALLY good 2h. Only drawback on this sword is the model...I think blizz couldve done a better job on that.

Nice sword if you aren't a BS and just hit 70 and want a some what competitive weapon for pvp. It's pretty similar to the felsteel reaper, so you just got choose between sword and poleaxe spec.

This sword is a great choice for any warrior that wants to PvE dps with a 2-hander instead of dual-wield, great because of all of the attack power, tons of hit rating (which is choice for dps), and the nice proc which will not only give you even more AP, but also make up a bit for life lost to bloodrage. Great weapon to head into Kara/Gruul's with. Personally I plan to make one for my warrior to try out MS/flurry spec. He's a mace specialization blacksmith so I can have Deep Thunder for pvp, so this makes a great second choice for a PvE weapon.

Slap mongoose on this and you'll be putting out some serious DPS.

This would also be an excellent choice for any pally that's lucky enough to get a raid spot as Ret.

Ok... Orc Warrior here...

I've spent a ton of gold in this experiment.

I pit a Crit Strike warrior build vs. a Attack Power warrior build.

Here are my results.

Because I'm an Orc (Axe bonus), I tried going for a Crit Strike build using Singing.

Singing was actually WORSE than the Crystal Forge Axe. The problem is, Singing has like no stats. The much cheaper Crystal Forge has 50 stam (which is good when you have a weak agility build) and it has a about a 2 percent crit strike advantage (about).

But I compared both those Crit Strike Builds. (Singing I got to 28% crit strike in Battle Stance. Crystal Forge to a strong 30% in Battle Stance.

I compared both builds in a non scientific trial in killing felboars. Vs. a Attack Power type build using sword spec and a Khorium Champion.

NO COMPETITON.

Khorium Champion is way better. I could kill fell boars on an average of 5 or 6 seconds faster consistantly.

Khorium Champ just has way to many stats and proc effects.

Had to try this one out, had somone make me one, and I do far superior dmg over my Lunar Crescent, even with about 7% less crit in swordspec.

I am now going to pick up armorsmithing and roll with this for a long time.

Would make lionheart, but part of me loves aethetics, and lionheart looks stupid, flat out stupid, 3.3 is a nice all around speed too. My crits are rougly the same as my Lunar, and the proc goes off about every battle, and read carefully, it lasts 30 seconds woot!

Also, the hit on this, means trading in a bunch of hit gear for more crit gear :]

I have used Khorium Champion for some time now...
and Strength of the Champion are much better when Crusader because its 30sec long and the chance on hit are offen...

Some time its ever 5-7 hit and some time its ever 10-25 hit..

Once i had Strength of the Champion going on for over 6 mins in a Battleground..

I love this sword, instead of going master weapon smith and crafting a lionheart blade i'll go master armoursmith and craft myself an epic chest.
To make up for the loss of the lionheart blade ive had one of these crafted.
It has good top end damage, 3.3 is a nice speed imo, 37 hit rating is awesome and i really love the vamped crusader effect.
This sword was made for dps wars and paladins ;).
Some people say this sword doesnt look cool, maybe its the lack of tentacles, moving parts or flashy lights that disappoint them but i like it. When i slap mongoose on itll look pretty impressive :).
I would really recommend any dps/pvp wars/paladins consider not going for the obvious lionheart blade (or axe, mace alternatives) and instead go for the master armoursmiths Breastplate of Kings, the khorium champion is almost as good as the lionheart and if you plan on going to karazhan you'll find a few even better 2 handed weapons there ;).

just got this today, n i gotta say. i LOVE it. huge upgrade from crystalforged waraxe. respecced weapon mastery from polarms (+5crit with polearms n axes) to sword mastery (5% chance to recive a second attack on one swing) actually, the second swing is better then +5crit!

materials<--- pain in the ass to farm though -_- but i managed to farm 70% of them in 1 say. yeah my ass was infront of the computer almost the whole day lol ^^

I have had the Khorium Champion for a couple of days, it is by far the best weapon I have had to date.
Some comments say the strength won't kick in too often, well! it comes on for me very often, and you know the differance in killing, just slices through everything.
Money well spent and I'm happy, beats the 2H EPIC MACE, plus they won't make fun of a warrior carring a Mace over his shoulder, the mace for power was a good weapon, the Khorium is far superior.
PLUS got the Mongoose, unbeliveble.........

Realy don't get it why people bash on the swords look all the time, I actually love the classic look, atleast it looks like a REAL sword and some oversized vibrator....

anyway my Retri Paladin is level 67 atm and ever since I saw this sword I wanted to have it, so now I've farmed some of the mats and bought the rest of it cheap.

Bought and farmed the primals then had some friends transmute them for free (which saves you a lot of money in the long run believe me.)

Bought like all the khorium for a total of 60g which is a super good deal if you know that people ask 5g+ for one bar on Auction house.

All the mats cost me like 350-400g in total I think, I do have a crafter atm but he charges 125g for a nether, which is a bit much to my liking, knowing most crafters charge about 80-90g for a nether. But it's hard to find crafters of this sword so I think I'll just take the deal, went through enough troubles for the mats now and 250g won't kill me I hope.

Can't wait to go farm honor on AV with this baby.
