It took me 94 kills of the disembodied protectors before this dropped -- not too bad overall compared to some of the other plans. Respawn rates are pretty good on these, but there's a little distance between them - a flying mount definitely helps for skipping between mobs.

Just to add a little parity, this dropped off the first Protector I killed. Didn't even know it was a drop. Just grinding outside Area 52. Don't hate. :)

i cant get these to drop i have almost all the bop plans except a few from instances and these are taking the longest. probably put forth 3+ hours of farming on seperate occasions. khartsfield i do have hate.

After lucking out and getting my on my 7th Bloodwarder, I thought I'd press my luck and try for this in the same night. 206 freaking Disembodied Protectors later, I finally get it. Horrid drop rate is right.

It took me 314 kills actually, which is horrible luck, but I imagine the drop rate averages about 0.5% overall. This particular BOP is so much more painful than the rest due to the fact that the mob's have almost no loot table at all. Absolute crap. Netherweave is all your going to get. If they had some greys or greens it would make it not so tedious. 7 hours, 314 kills, gg!

I have farmed these mobs for the past 4 days and collectively killed 455 of them. As of yet I have gotten no Khorium Boots plans. I even petitioned a GM to see if there was some kind of bug not letting it drop. He said I just had extremely bad luck and to keep trying. This is by far the worst drop rate, at least for me, out of the Khorium Ward set.

Took me about 80- 100 kills to get the drop. . . I also got about 8 or 10 greens that sold to a vendor quite well as well as an epic pattern : Unyielding Girdle. Farming it was well worth the time for me!

I farmed the belt pattern and got it on like 7 kill and fly over here and i think i got it in 30 min lost count at 21 or somehting

I spent about 3 hours killing protectors last night and didn't see this drop. It is a great location to farm netherweave though as I ended up with about 8 stacks by the time I was through. Hopefully it will drop tonight. There was an alliance warrior and an alliance pally farming as well for about an hour, so the plans may have dropped for them. Bad luck for me.

Ok this is starting to get sick.
I lvl from 69 - 70 by just killing those mobs, no drop.
Spend countless hours farming after lvl 70 with a flying mount to just kill the protectors, no drop.
Jeezzz its a blue plan not a epic.
If I say I killed 1000 Protectors its in the lower counts :(
Hope bitching here will help as I'm over the stage where you can blame bad luck.
No blue plan should be this hard to get.

Edit: After this post it dropped after 3 kills :) just prove that complaining works :)

I wouldn't be surprised if the disembodied protectors shared spawns with the disembodied vindicators - but it seems like the protectors patrol more on the outskirts of the ruins rather than stand around inside it.

As such, it might be more beneficial to just kill everything in/around the ruins to get more protectors to spawn - and thus get this pattern to drop - or not, as the case may be. Just a hunch.

Maybe I was really lucky on this drop, I got it on my 4th or 5th protector kill while doing the quests You're Hired! and Mark V is Alive! in that area. Found this much more easily than the belt pattern.

If you do The Archmage's Staff before you start grinding on these mobs, the followup quest Rebuilding the Staff also wants you to kill these ghosts.

it took me about 225 loots until these dropped. pretty good respawn rate for the protectors. i also made about 600 gold off of loot and money that dropped while there.

I farmed for the plans for the entire set: Khorium Belt, Khorium Boots and Khorium Pants.

I started farming Deathforge Guardians in Shadowmoon Valley first for the Khorium Pants. I died about 8 times that first night due to getting ambushed repeatedly by multiple mobs that caused lots of fire damage and mobs that disrupted my healing spells. That's okay. I learned some fighting lessons (lol). I farmed for about 4 hours killing a lot of Guardians and Summoners, but the plans didn't drop. I returned a second night and farmed for about another 4 hours, but the plans didn't drop. This time, however, instead of farming near the entrance to the cave, I farmed well away from there at the general grounds around the path leading down to the cave. The Guardians spawned pretty quickly, but the plans didn't drop.

I decided to try for the plans for the Khorium Belt at Sunspring in Nagrand by killing Murkblood Raiders. I farmed for 3 days killing the Raiders and just about everything in camp. I mined some Adamantite veins and earned lots of gold in mob silver and drops. The plans dropped on that 3rd day.

After spending 2 days helping a friend and farming for Motes of Water to make the armor for myself, I went to Netherstorm and farmed for the Khorium Boots by killing Disembodied Protectors. I also farmed for Motes of Mana off of the Mana Wraiths that are across the road from the Disembodied Protectors. It was a win-win area for me to farm. After 2 days of farming (4 hours total), the plans dropped.

An hour after the plans for the boots dropped in Netherstorm, I returned to Shadowmoon Valley to get the plans for the pants. After about 30 minutes there (8 guardians killed), the plans dropped.

So, from start to finish, it took me one week of farming 2 to 4 hours per night after work to get all 3 plans for the set.

I can now craft the entire set on Medivh. Contact Zaki, if you want any or all of the set.

Dropped for my paladin after 37 min, didnt count how many I killed. Pretty fast respawn if you just go around the temple in a circle killing the Protectors, dropped at 36.56

25 minutes of farming; 50-60 kills. Don't kill vindicators; its really the protectors that drop it :)

Just logged in yesterday morning to check my mail box, had some extra time so would try to find´mine some Adamantite in Netherstorm (was in area 52) killed one Disembodied Protector to get to a vein, and it dropped

Had Plans for Ragesteel chest drop the same day :D

I went into this fully prepared to farm for days. I guess I lucked out, and landed it on my third kill. I scored both legs and boots now in under 20 kills. Let's hope the luck holds out.

7 Protectors, one "Plans: Khorium Boots".

This isn't a "zomg, I'm so lucky post". I'm just trying to say, that the drop rate may in fact not be that bad at all. Perhaps there were other reasons for the time it took the above posters, such as lv (they are 67-68 mobs so unless you're 70 it's easy to aggro other ones) or the mobs they killed (there are three kinds of mobs here, and only about 40-45% are protectors). If you spend your time clearing every other kind of mob, it will take ages. After you kill a protector, if you can't see anymore, get on your flying mount (if you don't have one, get it before continuing to search for the plans) to avoid aggroing mobs, and then take a look around.

Getting to the point where I'm having irrationaly agressive feelings towards anyone I see killing a protector for the quests here....

Hoping that this post has some sort of Karmic effect and I get the plans tonight.

At level 70 I've been stuck at 360 blacksmithing for quite a while now. I have all 3 ragesteel patterns, a couple of the felsteel patterns and an epic Steelgrip Gauntlets patterns. All of them require 365+ and I couldn't see burning tons of Primal Fire/Primal Water to create the Flamebane recipes. This is when I decided to farm these patterns. At level 70 it took me about 2.5 hours to obtain all three. Here is where they drop:

Belt: Murkblood Raiders - Nagrand
Pants: Deathforge Guardian - Shadowmoon Valley
Boots: Disembodied Protector - Netherstorm

The longest pattern to farm was the boots. The Protectors are spread out over an area with dips and cracks in the ground. A flying mount lets you hop over the areas easier. If you have a Deathforge Key, take the cave all the way to the back end and farm a small area full of Guardians. They dropped a lot of Marks of Sargeras too. And Nagrand was pie at level 70. Just have to compete with people trying to do the quest there.

These three plans each drop only from one specific mob in outland. They only drop for blacksmiths and the plans are Bind on Pickup.

Plans: Khorium Boots
These drop from Disembodied Protectors (66-68) in Netherstorm, just North of Area 52. These mobs are easily soloable by any class and all can be pulled individually. The plans dropped after 130 kills for me.

Plans: Khorium Belt
These plans drop from Murkblood Raiders (65-67)in Nagrand, West of Halaa in the center of the map. The raiders come solo, in pairs of two or with three Scavengers. The scavengers have extremely low hp and die from a single paladin consecration. The plans dropped after 30 kills for me.

Plans: Khorium Pants
These plans drop of the Deathforge Guardians (67-69) in Shadowmoon Valley. Just west of the center of the map. Again, all mobs can be pulled individually and are easily soloable for any class. The plans dropped after just 8 kills for me.

I spend about 1,5 hours farming for all three plans together but I suppose I had some luck. I'd recommend farming these plans for any blacksmith anyhow. Just invite a friend and have some fun. The gold and decent Netherweave drops make farming worthwhile at any rate.

10 Days so far. 4 Gallons of Orange Drink. 2 Boxes of Pizza. 18 Packs of smokes. Still no drop. Though I get a kick out of ganking most ally questing here gives me great relief knowing that I killed them for attempting to kill a protector.

On off farming when in the area, then solid farming for 2 days over the weekend. Nothing.

A ton of greens and netherweave but no plans.

Then I started on Mana Wraiths for a bit of variety.
And a plan dropped!

For flipping Spellsurge.
Yippee freaking do dar!

I've killed somewhere around 600 of them by now, no drop. Was thinking that maybe I needed 365 skill before it would drop. Nope, gotten 200ish kills since I skilled up to that.

I wonder if there's a specific Protector that drops these bloody things. There's one I can Sense Undead just to the right of the main "entrance", but he's not actually there. Something tells me that bugged one on my server is the only one that will drop those plans....

Anyway, here's hoping that this luck post does the trick for me. :)

Well it is worth a shot. I have been farming the Ruins of Enkaat looking for these plans. I was able to get the "Plans: Khorium Pants" and "Plans: Khorium Belt" in less than an hour for each, average kills between 35 and 40. I have killed a total of 238 (128 Level 67 / 111 Level 68) Disembodied Protector''s. Reading the posts I figured why not give it a try.

UPDATE
After 310 kills, I got the drop from a level 67.

So do you need a blacksmith to even SEE the recipe to loot it? Like if you have a blacksmith on autofollow grinding with another character and you are looting with the non-blacksmith, will you not see the item and it may still drop?

i looked here b4 i started farming, and saw everyones post about how many kilsl it took. so since i started farming ive been keeping numbers too. im at 600 even right now, have made about 500g in boe blues, netherweave and vendoring greys. still not drop. so im taking that dudes advice and posting here hoping it will. this is rediculous. i recomend if u dont need these plans, dont waste ure time...

After 112 kills it finally dropped. I was pretty discouraged at first, but it paid off eventually. Made a ton of gold though, so it was worth it.

I just killed 193 Protectors....NOTHING...I got both of the others in a combined time of 2 hours...I farm the last one for 4 hours, and get nothing....I am so frustrated, I can hardly contain myself....I actually warned my guild not to go there looking for it cause I would hate them forever

The previous comments and complaints from 2008 are correct for TBC Classic 2022. Only the protectors drop them, but they share a spawn with the vindicators. This is an excruciating farm, even if you go through the place several times over killing ALL of them, since they do share spawns. The only thing that isn't so bad is that they respawn pretty quickly...as in once you have reached the end of the camp, they have respawned at the beginning again. I tried for 3 hours straight tonight (Friday, 04/01/2022) on a warrior blacksmith and no dice, no plans. I will keep trying because it fills the time I am not raiding, in battlegrounds, or busy with other alts, and they do drop a fair amount of netherweave for my tailor. Mainly I want the plans just to collect the recipe and have it, though I would craft them for my Pally. I checked the date of the post prior to mine in 2021, which happened to be on a Tuesday right after reset, and I've always had the belief that rare drops like these happen with higher probability then than on a weekend day. So if you are not much of a raider, or you raid later in the week than on reset day, you'll probably have higher chances of getting them to drop than on a weekend. Good luck to all my fellow blacksmithing plans collectors out there.
