The single stat gems seem paticularily weak. Take for example, a typical priest slotted item, it has a red slot and a blue slot. If you were to put this gem in the red slot for +18 healing, and then a Lustrous Star of Elune in the blue slot for +3mp5.. you would have poorer stats than simple using two Royal Nightseye gems. These would match the same slots, providing you the socket bonus, as well as combined still provide +18 heaing, and 4mp5 rather than 3. Probably easier to get as well, since you wouldn't need to find a crafter with both blue recipies, only one.

IMO the single stat gems arn't worth it, and should be buffed. If this one was +24 healing, and Star of Elune was perhaps 5mp5, they would be much more compelling choices.

I agree. Was considering using Teardrop Living Rubys for the red slots in the moonglade set, however I believe Royal Nightseye is much more useful because healers get plenty of +healing and not so much +mana per 5. The fact that Royal Nightseye fits both blue and red slots really seals the deal.

This same arguement applies to Dazzling Talasite. Has half the intellect of a +8 int gem, and 1 less mana per 5 than a Lustrous Eye of Elune, yet I feel it is better than both because it covers more stats. It also fits into two slot types, making it easier to put into most sockets.

In short, hybrid gems FTW. (atleast for healers imo)

However, take into consideration that single stat gems are usualy most usefull to certain classes, take a feral druid for example, they would benefit a lot more from a single stat strength gem since they recive 2.6 ap in catform, whilst a paladin would benefit a lot more from intellect since he/she gains 35% of it in bonus damage & healing.

I do however agree with oracledragon that some gems should be buffed, i mean, 9 healing + 2mp5 or 3mp5? pretty given choice :)

I think the consideration for the single stat gems is that they are for those who wish to max out a single stat. 2 +18s is more healing than 2 +9/2mp5 of course. Same with the +3mp5 gems, if you in dire need of a stat, using the single stat gems is the way to go

Do people buy this a lot if u buy a Living Ruby and cut it into a Teardrop Living Ruby? Idk how to make money with this design...I bought it for 300g though :D.

Yes, +healing rare gems are all relatively popular, especially this one having the most healing out of all of them. I think only more popular non-meta gem is solid star of elune.
