31.5 Parry Rating = 1% parry
roughly 33 Agility = 1% dodge + 1% crit

I did some math myself on a 70 night elf warrior prot tank stripped naked and then adding gear and using a calculator as of 01/28/08 patch 2.3.3 (7799). Heres what I found:

Exactly 30 agility = 1% dodge.
Appx 18.9 dodge = 1% dodge.
Appx 23.6 parry = 1% parry.

Then I went and did a little extra and looked into defense.

Exactly 2.375 defense rating = 1 defense. (just handy to know I guess)
And lastly, avoidance percentages from defense diminish. At 490 (really the minimum for tanking) additional defense adds avoidance at about this rate (diminishing of course):
52 Defense rating (equal to +22 defense) is increasing dodge/block/parry by 1% and reducing chace to be hit and crit by 1%. If you're like me and only really consider the dodge/parry after 490 then you might want to think of it as 26 defense rating as increasing general avoidance by 1%. Hope that helps update a bit.

hunters can use mongoose bite after they dodge, so high dodge would be good.

You could turn the same stone into +8 AGI.
8 dodge rating/18.9 rating per % = +.42% to dodge with this gem

8 AGI for feral druids/11.93 = +.67% to dodge
8 AGI for warriors/25.93 = .31% to dodge and roughly a .25% extra chance to crit (and thereby generate more threat)
8 AGI for paladins/23.84 = .34% to dodge and .33% extra to crit (+threat)

So, useless for feral druids, gives .08% more than the AGI gem for paladins to dodge and .11% more for warriors at the cost of 3x the crit (and a negligable amount of armor). It seems difficult to justify the expense.

I agree. I thought I was able to pick up the recipe for a bargain price, but little did I know that it's mostly useless. You guys can skip this one, it's not worth it

paladins dont need melee crit dude, i tank with a 41dps weapon and crit or no crit doesnt matter, and besides we need all avoidence we can get since no shield block

Somebody told me a tankadin would be better off with Delicate Living Ruby using Kings when tanking b/c tankadins would gain more dodge and such with +10% stats. Does that make sense or should I just use the Subtle Living Ruby? This person also told me not to use blessing of sanctuary. I've been holy since the day i hit level 70 and have recently spec protection so i know very little about tanking.
