I think all feral druids would agree, this is almost the perfect tanking ring.

AC, STA, Res is a fantastic combination. The resilience works well with the SotF talent to further reduce our chance to be crit in PvE.

I think the only way a ring could be made better for tanking would be to add dodge rather than resilience.

I'd say this is more geared toward Feral Druids, but this is a great item for protection warriors and people who dig PVP.

+Defense gives you dodge/parry in addition to crit avoidance, but resilience shouldn't be ignored for tanking since it provides more crit protection per point, and also lessens the damage dealt by critical hits. Really important.

I have tanked Rampage three times now and twice this ring dropped. Since I was the only tank I got it both times :) Nice combo with Mark of Tyranny and Smoking Heart of the Mountain, that's a lot of armor in bear (yes, feral druid ^^)

Guess I am unlucky, but I have druid-soloed him about 10 times now in the past week and have had everthing drop except the damn tanking ring! Ironsole Clompers seem the most common. Not sure if the ring has become a rarer drop recently? <sigh>

This dropped last night for me, and I was really out dated on rings (till was wearings Seal of Wyrnn) So I asked for it and got it. I am a Warlock and though the armor is unnecessary the Stam and resi(or PvP) is nice.

My 66 Druid recived this ring on the 5th run.

990 added armor - total armor 15870 with 29% to crit.

Feral Druids are tanks - gimped Warrior class )

Easily a druid tanking ring, get something like 1000 armor from wearing it.

Resillience is the anti-crit stat...meaning it lowers the chance mobs/players will crit you, and when they do, it lessens the dmg a little

Tbh this ownes most of the lvl 60 epic rings for a tanker druid. 180 armor is alot with the 450% :D

180 armor * 5.5 = 990 armor, which brings my armor to 13k, which is 69% melee damage reduction.

Getting to the point where the resilience becomes more important.

It's not unique, so two is better then one :)

Actually, the correct formula is 180 x 5.5 = 990.

This is because dire bear form increases the armor value of your items by an additional 450%.

Think of it this way: if you increase something by 100%, do you multiply by one? No, you multiply by 2. Similarly, if you increase something by 10%, you multiply by 1.1, not 0.1. If the tooltip said something like "changes your armor value to 450% of normal," then it would be 180 x 4.5, but that isn't the case here.

Additionally, if you have the thick hide talent, this formula becomes 180 x 1.1 x 5.5 = 1089.

This is because thick hide increases your armor value from items by 10%, so the 180 from the ring becomes 198, which is further increased by the bear form multiplier of 5.5.

Hope that clears this up.

New math with the recent patch:

Druid gets 400% AC bonus from Dire Bear form, making 100% + 400% bonus = 5x ring armor class

180 * 5 = 900 armor w/o talents

900 * 1.1 = 990 armor with Thick Hide

Got this ring last night on a stealth run with another druid (66 and 70 - watch out for the dogs!). I should have let him take it, even though I won the roll, because he tanks more than I do (*sorry*!)

3 more runs, it didn't drop again.

Hints on the stealth run:
- clear the mobs at the start, including the first dog patrol. They die quickly, and it simplifies the most risky part of your run.

- follow the second dog patrol past the beast master, and then camp on the right-hand wall near the brazier to let them get back behind you (but not too close to the brazier in case the wanderer comes by).

- You may want to kill the wanderer that comes to that brazier, or just wait until he leaves to stealth on by, but be aware of the patrol behind you.

- Be very careful of the second wanderer. He comes very close to a group of mages you'll want to sneak by.

- in the circular room, it's safest to start going across right when the dog patrol passes to the left side, but you can dash across when the dog patrol passes to the right side.

- You'll want to clear the 2-orc patrol on the bridge.

- When fighting the rider, remember the dragon enters the fight when he's about 20%, so heal before that to avoid excess aggro after the dragon lands. When fighting the dragon, heal early, heal often, innervate, and move out of the fire!

After we killed boss i was dead so i couldnt loot it and nobody could ress:( when i went into the instance again it was respawns...unlucky me:'(

Excuse me, but the droprate of this ring sucks.

I went that instance from 62 to mid 64, in total over 40 runs. I only saw this drop once.

stealthed in twice yesterday. Killed the two last boses solo. Kinda easy, had over 50% hp left, but no ring drop. Have one of the ring, want two. Still good for tanking at lvl 70 (dont have the epic "armor rings" from kara.

Got it on first run, tanking at lvl 62. Thank you to group (including a hunter) who passed or didn't need. This is the ultimate bear tank ring at this level.
