Picked this up yesterday during our first run of Hellfire Citadel, the Ramparts.

This item can be looted from a loot chest when you kill Vazruden and Nazan (the dragon rider and mount).

Dropped for me yesterday after 2 attempts at Ramparts - and a very nice upgrade for any feral...pretty easy to get to also.

It's nice to see Blizz actually itemising for Ferals properly now!

Indeed, I got this item on my first run of Ramparts, after successfully tanking the entire run as a feral druid. The last boss is fairly challenging when the dragon lands, but just keep him faced away from the party and keep dodging the pools of fire and he's easy. Downed him after one wipe.

The staff is awesome for all forms of feral, and I've even seen hunters running around with it. Excellent staff, common drop, from an easy instance. All ferals should be trying for this.

Not just for feral druids! I'm full resto ( i know, i know...but my guild is lacking in healers) and they were gonna DE this so I asked if I could have it. This along with the man other feral leather pieces from quests makes my cat/bear form adequate for soloing/questing.

Since Ramparts is such a fun and easy instance where I often get to excel as Bear Tank, I've done it around 12 times so far. It only dropped the last time, so I bet I was unlucky or something... you can actually get decent staves from the Auction House that are almost as good as this for a level 62 or so, but this is for sure a nice Staff. Awesome looks, nice stats!

Will keep it until 65 when I do the Ring of Blood events, hehe.

With the ease of running Ramparts from your first moments in Outlands, this item should almost be in each druids' inventory.

A nice bit of lore is also referenced in this item's name, same as in the following items:

Is this really better than Staff of the Wild? I just got the claws and I'm not so sure it's an upgrade. At level 64, the +20 to hit on the Staff of the Wild gives me 1.71% to hit, which is pretty big. Other than that, it's a very minor DPS upgrade and a small loss of HP.

How have other Druids decided between the two?

Ursol'lok is a rare-bear in Ashenvale, he must be a reference to the Ancient bear Ursol.

Note the increase in ap in cat, bear, and moonkin form. Frankly if i see a hunter with this im gonna lmao at him-i agree, it IS better to be DE'd then given to a hunter.

I'm a little confused by this "Heroic Mode" thing... I assume you get better drops in heroic mode, but how can you tell which drops come from which mode? If I want this staff, do I have to do heroic mode?

Hunters should not even dare roll on a druid staff, best reset the instance and do it again for Hellreaver or a decent weapon to drop. Like-wise this is worth the shard then a hunter having it.

I have a druid who wanted this at the time, but I was playing my warlock when it dropped. The druid in the group was understandably delighted, but I had to tease him a bit.

Me: Great-looking hunter staff! ;-)

Him: No - it's a druid staff!

Me: But it would be great for a hunter! ;-)

Him: But the equip bonus is for _bear_form_(getting angry, and obviously not noticing the "wink" smileys)

Me: Yeah, it would be great for the hunter's cat- and bear-form pets! Awesome hunter weapon!

He never did get it, even when I apologized for yanking his chain afterward...

Dropped last night in a 4-man Ramp run w/o a druid present. I was on w/ my mage at the time, and the group asked if they should d/e it. I said "Hey, could I at least TRY and bring my druid in here to pick it up?" They agreed and most left team.

My druid was logged in Honor Hold and I ran like the wind to the instance entrance. Cat form-sprint as fast as I could to get to the end. I didn't know if I could even target the chest since I was not present for the kill.

Sho-nuff, I get to the end, loot the staff and 2-gem slotted leather belt and /cheer with happiness. My mage got the Crystaline staff the kill b4 that, so it was a VERY benefitial run for me.

Opens a whole new can of worms for that end chest tho. All my alts are now parked at HH if I'm doing a ramp run.

I have such bad luck with this thing. Five runs, lost once to another druid and then wasn't dropped the other times! Bah!

Extremely easy to get. Fun, simple instance. Got it my very first run. If you don't have a feral-specific weapon yet, this'll be your first big upgrade.

Got this on my first run though the ramparts. Not extremely hard to get, my group was a mixture of Blue/MC epic geared characters.

Was in the chest with some plate boots.
All the dragon had on it was the head for the quest (and was skinnable)

But I think a lot of guilds will try Naxx just for fun when they're level 70's. To see what they 'missed'.

I totally agree with the guy talking about the majority of people being in 20-man raiding guilds.

Besides, if this "dungeon difficulty" change, who knows bliz won't put in a patch later on allowing us to change the difficulty of Naxx to a higher level, allowing for better loot drops?

I was pretty lucky, got it on my second run... there are also a few rings that are pretty good for druids(healing and tanking)

I posted a pic of it... pretty druidy looking... but identical design to some other staff like the Braxxi smthing staff

For you guys that got this on your second run, I hate you.

I have run this instance probably 30 times. I'm not sure how many , but enough to make 2 full levels. I have just about every piece of gear that I can use there, besides this, and that is a lot of gear considering I have 2 sets.

I have heard lots of other people saying that there is an item they want, and have not been able to get it. I am thinking maybe there are too many items that can drop off of each guy. I heard the drops are 1 in 6, so that being said you have a 5 in 6 chance to not get the item.

Dropped after 2nd run from dragonrider boss.
Just replaced my bonecrusher 2H mace from DM quest as my dps pvp weapon.

This is not going to replace my Warden Staff. I think I will miss the armor bonus to much.

Ursol's Claw absolutely rocks, but don't spend endless hours running Ramparts for it.

Staff of the Wild is very similar.

7 less Str, 7 less Agil, 13 less AP, and 3 more Stam.

Sure, that's ~37 less AP overall, but it's a quest reward. My suggestion? Run Ramparts a couple of times, then move on. Zangarmarsh awaits. You'll spend less time getting to Friendly with the Sporregar, getting the quest Now that We're Friends..., completing it, and turning it in than you would on two Ramparts runs. And it's all soloable.

Ursol's > Staff of the Wild. But is it worth countless hours if you can't get the damned thing to drop?

Got this great staff on my second run. For those who slightly turn this into a tactic thread - the secret on the last boss is simply to walk in the flame pits where the dragon spews. Just move around and DON'T move in the flame pits. Another good idea is to pull the bosses back on the "bridge" before the platform. That way you can give it a second try (if/when you wipe) without agroing the two guards before you enter the platform if you wipe.

The staff is great between 60-61 to 65 where you replace it with Staff of Beasts, which is easily obtained from a group quest in Zangarmarsh (easier than farming HFR for ages atleast)

Got this Awesome staff for my druid just a few hours ago after my Third run. Knocked up my dps by quite a bit i must say...not a bad looking staff either..160ap plus the 83 you get from the stats...cant complain with that :)

I've runned this instance 13 times.. STILL NO DROP!

I'm givin' up.. Made 1 lvl and 4 bars with trying to get this staff.. until it's like 1% drop rate. I dunno am I too unlucky.. everytime some other thing drops, but this would be gratest staff up for 66lvl :/ GL with getting this 1.

This staff doesnt just drop from the boss it also drops from a chest that can only be opened when u kill the last boss and it has a 17% of dropping

Got the staff after 4 runs in ramparts. It drops in the chest that appears in the middle of the circle after defeating the dragon and his rider in ramparts. There seem to be 2 blue drops every time from the dragon/rider. The dragon is no joke, our 63 holy paladin could barely keep me alive (7k health/10k armor) in between his firebreath attacks.

Sexiest looking staff out there for a 60 druid!

Got this staff for my druid on her 7 or 8:th run. Nice even though i got braxxis in bank. Im mainly running for the armor rings wich newer seems to drop for me. Boosted my dps up quite a bit. Nice overall staff. But if u´re 63 like me u might want to check AH for braxxis if luck isnt on ur side. Bought mine for 10g.

If you want a cool enchant for looks on this staff, give it savagry enchant, it is an extra 70 attack power but it gives it the look of dripping blood. That makes your weapon a bleeding paw on a stick!

me (feral druid) was in a group with another feral druid who was group leader. we down vaz and nazan and she sets herself to master looter! im like WTF i need to roll on this too. that was the first tiem she ran it and the 6th time for me :(

Very nice staff. It looks kind of dorky, but the stats are awesome. I highly recommend running Hellfire Ramps as many times as it takes to get this (which shouldn't be too often since it has a high drop rate). This will last you nicely until level 65, when you get the Staff of Beasts.

Just got in my first ever run. It was my first BC instance run too! Its pretty much the biggest upgrade I have ever got.

Had no luck getting the claw yet, all I got in two chests were BOTH caster rings (twice!). Cleared it about 4 times now damn that place... oh and the dragon is a challenging boss he rapes your health with fire attacks, the most ideal situation is for a pala to have fire resistance aura on and a shamy with fire resistance totem :P Oh and mages should keep their fire wards up as he randomly attacks people with a fireball every 10 or something seconds.

Rofl this and the sash dropped =] I got the staff as I was the only druid while 3 of us needed the belt.. I won that too !@#$ yeah >:3
P.S. should shamys roll on the belt? I understand greedy hunters as their personal tank bodyguard takes the beating for them but doesnt a enhance shamy benefit more from simply wearing full mail?
