Compare this cloak, a level 62 blue cloak, to the best spell damage cloak currently in the game, Cloak of the Necropolise (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=23050) which drops off Sapphiron.

The difference between the two is essentially 3 more stamina, 4 more intellect, 3 less spell crit, 7 less spell damage, and 8 less spell hit. The Cloak of the Necropolis, while an upgrade, is very, very small. Wonderful item that doesn't require much levelling.

Essentially the best DPS cloak a balance specced druid can get until well into level 70.

(I say this because most cloaks are either inferior, or have +hit instead of +crit- +hit is fairly useless to a druid with balance of power until raiding.)

better than the nef cloak? it has -7 spell dmge but +1.4% crit and nice stats

This one has crit and more stats than hakkar's cloak drop...but i think hakkar's is 23 spell damage, 8 to hit, and only 10 int(in stats). Cloak of Consumption

If you want a cloak with good +dmg and +crit with decent int and stam, this fits the bill nicely. The only blue cloak that has higher +dmg and +crit is this one Baba's Cloak of Arcanistry and that requires lvl 70, has the same int and stam, and only +3 more dmg and 3 more +crit rating.

Only other cloak that is close is the Spell-slinger's Protector, but that's 3 less +dmg, and 2 +crit rating, with a -1 stam and some extra spirit... kind of a side grade and only attainable at 64-65-ish whereas this cloak, I got at 62.

This item works just as well for a mage as it would for a lock. A lock shouldnt get priority over a mage for this item.

If you think just being a mage gives you the right to spelldmg and crit gear your a moron, or a lock too, the fact that you got outrolled by a druid and you complaining is stupid, balance druids need + spelldmg just as much as you, i play a balance druid and i'm always 1 or 2 on dps charts, most of the team beating the mage of the group or very close to him, so stop being a stingy bastard kthnxbai

Never EVER seen this drop from Quagmirran after 30+ SP runs just to get it. Gave up in the end and just got Spell-Slinger's Protector quest reward from Nagrand, Which is arguably better (for me as a fire mage).

Me, being a dicipline priest, sub holy (meaning i spam smite) rolled on this cloak, due to it being better than a crappy green. a prot paly rolled on this as well. Pally won (of course) and said that he needed it as well. I doubt that he gets priority over any pure caster. I know that prot palis need spell damage to hold aggro. So who gets priority?
