For anyone who is seeking to find these, a great spot is the bloodscales in zangarmarsh. I would suggest if you are going for those to also get the quest for Sporeggar exp as well. That area around the bloodscales can get you many pearls quick.

According to the brady book for WoW and being a JC'r I have yet to find a design for jewelcrafting that uses these.

Aw crap, I just bought a bunch of these in the AH, thinking they'd be useful for Jewelcrafting eventually.

Currently there is no use for these. They're vendor fodder.

The problem is, the droprate on these is extremely high, and from lowish-level mobs. Even if the best enchant in the game is released using these, I don't see them going for much more than a couple gold a piece. You can't compare these to the golden pearl, which was extremely rare. You needed one? You didn't go farm it, you hit the AH and bought it from someone who got lucky. And you paid well for it.

These things drop like candy. I mean it's possible they'll add a nice recipe and then nerf the droprate, I dunno. I suppose if you have the space, save them. Just don't expect to get 50g a piece off of them in the future.

Don't forget, other pearls, like the Golden Pearl, are used in tailoring and enchanting aswell. This just triples the chance that SOMETHING is going to use it. Holding on to all mine, even if I have to send them to a bank character.

They can curently be used for nothing at all.. they are just vendor trash...
I rly don't think there will be any use for them for anything worth making...

I opened at least 50 clams from quests and found 3 of these and 5 goldens. Dunno what they are for yet though.

There's no current known use for these, and the droprate isn't very low.

Plenty appear at the AH, and the ones priced high will never sell.

Vendor value is 10s per pearl.

It's debateable, but I'd say they're worth 15s a piece at auction purely for speculative investment, one day a pattern using them may be revealed, or perhaps even a turn in for a quest, and the investment will pay off as the value jumps a little.

Right now though, don't try and sell them for more than 15s (150% vendor value) because supply is medium to high, and demand is virtually zero...it's basic economics...

When WoW was first released, there was no use for Golden Pearls either, then came things like Spellpower enchant. So you never know if it'll be worth anything down the road.

My feeling is even if they are, there's far too many of them for them to be worth much though. Golden pearls were rare even back when they weren't used for anything.

The mention of Jaggal Pearls and Shadow Pearls is not in the latest 2.1 profession patch notes from 4/12/07, listed here. I don't know if that means Blizzard changed their minds, or simply removed the note so people wouldn't hoard them. My guess is the second reason. :)

And, the meat is used in the Clam Bar recipe.

One good place to farm them is in the cave at Funggor Cavern on the very southern tip of Umbrafen Lake in Zangarmarsh. (path up at 74,89 and cave at the top of the hill on the right at 74,91)

Also good for miners, herbalists, unidentified plant parts and 15 Sporeggar rep per kill. The mobs are lvl 61-63 Marsh Dredger or Lurker. Both paths from the entry eventually lead down to the boss. When doing the boss area, it helps to wait until the friendly sporelocks aggro Lord/boss and take out 1 or 2 of the mobs before you focus on him.

there is a JC recipe for a necklace that uses 10 jaggal pearls and it is a pretty good item.

Jaggal Pear is used in jewelcrafting to make "necklace of the deep", wich is a blue item = +21 agility +20 stamina and two red sockets and sell's for about 80g

These pearls are needed in Jewelcrafting at about the 325 level. Just got it in my JC log, and now either have to farm for them or buy them in AH.
