These are a rep turn-in for Kurenai(Alliance), Mag'har(Horde), and the Consortium(Neutral).

You need ten of each for each turn-in. It would be best (IMO) to do both of the starter quests your faction and the Consortium as those award XP and rep. Then, save them for whichever you think will be more useful to grind rep.

In my case (as a warrior who likes stamina and a dwarf hunter who likes guns), this is the Consortium. I'm not worried about getting rep for the Kurenai as neither of my toon's professions or is greatly aided by the Kurenai rewards.

Dropping at a roughly 1/3 (33%) drop rate, these obsidian beads are used to turn in for reputation. They give 500 per 10.

Kurenai reputation is primarily used to obtain the special epic mount - a "Talbuk"

Assuming you start at 0/12000 honored, to grind ogres to exalted would take roughly 1238 kills.

MATH:
Honored rep (12k) + Revered rep (21k) = 33k Rep Points
Drop Rate on Ogres (33%), 10 rep per ogre, 500 rep per Turn-in.
So, about 30 kills per turn-in, that's 300 rep (kills) + 500 rep (turn-in) = 800 rep for 30 kills, so...

33,000 divided by 800 rep = 41.25
41.25 x 30 kills = 1237.5 or 1238 Ogre Kills.

You get quite a bit of rep from quests too. I think getting rep with the Kurenai (for Alliance anywas) is a peice of cake (or pie) compared to any other rep grind in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to stealth nerf it, it's that easy. Would be really nice if some of the other rep grinds were this easy...or at least more fun.

Complete all the quests for the Kurinai in Zangarmarsh and then in Nagrand itself, completed all the chains, and after that had to start grinding the ogres for the beads, and for the 10 beads in a stack to turn in multiple sets.. remember that it will be 10 rep for kill as stated above, in a party of 2 or more people you kill more ogres, and faster bead acquisition.. if you are a druid, id recommend you are feral :) makes things go faster....

Each of the warbeards x10 give 500 Reputation for Kurenai.
This is atleast like that for my Night Elf hunter and been so ever since Friendly and all the way to Revered (still works while revered)

An important note that has been so far totally ignored in these comments is that Zaxxis Insignias in Netherstorm are an easier way to rep up with Consortium than the warbeads are, because they drop more frequently (Insignias drop around 50% of the time, while warbeads drop roughly 33% of the time).

So no, it's not a total waste to use the warbeads for Kurenai or Mag'har, especially if you're like me and think talbuks are more or less the best thing since sliced bread (and are on a server where Halaa is contested maybe once a month).

Everyone here seems to completely ignore the talbuk aspect of the Kurenai/Mag'har factions. Remember, this is a game and if you want a talbuk and you want to get it fast by turning these in instead of stiffly maximizing your reputation gain you ARE allowed to so.
Its about fun, not efficiency, remember?

Also whats great about grinding on the ogres is that you get oshu'gun powder which you can turn into Halaa for research tokens (when your faction has control). that gives you some great rewards

The best grinding spot for affliction warlocks is the cave at (40,32). No self-healing mobs and interruptable frost mages (instead of shamans which use totems or Earth shock). Also, mobs are little bit more near from each other, which allows you to "Tab & DoT" in a more efficient way, especially if you're using Darkmoon Card: Crusade

The drop rate is about 33%. Thast one drop per three kills. One kill awards ~1000 exp and ~10 Kurenai/Mag'Har honor.

For ten of these that would mean 30 kills. That is ~30k exp and ~300 honor.
And when you turn them in an extra 500 honor.

These are defintly worth grinding. Especially good if you combine it with those quest involving the Warmaul tribe

Up to 10,000 rep for a 200 stack turn in.

200 Divided by 10 = 20
20x500= 10,000

33 % chance to drop off ogres.

200x3 = 600 ogres to get 200 Beads and + the 10 rep bonus from 600 kills(10x600) = 6,000 + 10,000 = 16,000.

I did the calculation for me since I wanted to get to Revered With Consortium and Exalted with Kurenai so see how many Ogres I would need to kill.

So assuming starting at 0/12000 Honored with both you would need
12000 Consortium divided by 250 a turn in = 48 Turn ins * 10 Warbeads/Turn in= 480 Warbeads
480 Warbeads * 3 Orges/Warbead = 1440 Orges

Now you will have gained 14400 Kurenai rep by grinding Consortium so you will only need 18600 to reach exalted.

Figuring 800 Rep a turn in from an above post you would need 18600 rep divided by 800 rep/turn in = 23.25 turn ins.

23.25 turn ins * 30 Ogres/Turn In = 697.5 ~ 698 Ogres.

Adding those together you will need 2138 Ogres to get Exalted with Kurenai and Revered with Consortium.

I'm 810/12000 for Consortium and 918/21000 for Kurensi so I have 1594 Orges left to kill.....*sigh*

Personally, I found the best drops are from the Warmaul Ogres at The Laughing Skull Ruins (45, 20) to have the best drops. Seems almost 50% of the time I get the beads.

You can get rep for killing humanoids in Nagrand all the way up to exalted; the same is true for the Obsidian Warbeads quest turnin, and it continues to give full rep per. Confirmed. Best of luck :)

Does anyone know what rep you can NO LONGER turn these in at? I was planning to grind all the way to honored just from kills, but don't want the beads to go to waste if i can't turn these beads in when I'm honored. (Mag'har rep btw)

I farmed these around 2 hours 45 mins and got 3 superior healing pots, 1 superior mana pot, 8 greens, and 83 beads. I got enough netherweave to make our guild tailor say "I don't want any more."

When does killing the Ogres STOP giving rep?

I'm getting 10 per kill at Friendly and don't want to start doing quests and turn-in's until the killing stops giving rep.

It was disappointing that you can't get much farther than the start of Honored with Thrallmar, and then again with Cenarion Exp. I even saved the CE quests until the kill rep stopped and they only got me to about 3000ish of honored...

I'm hoping Mag'Har, Scryers, Lower City and Sha'Tar are a bit more forgiving...

For those of u farming this to get rep with The Consortium, turn at 31.57. U must be Friendly with them and every 10 stack gives 250 rep ;D

takes about 4700 ogre slayings to get exalted with consortium from honoured.
although its highly worth it (as a rogue for me anyway), its very time consuming. just a heads up

Your best bet is actually to use these for Consortium rep. You can turn them in for 250 rep for 10 at the Consortium camp in western Nagrand. Every month the consortium sends you gems, the higher your rep the better the gems, so get grinding. And yes you do get Kuranei rep from Ogres all the way to exulted.

As mentioned above, you can bring any further stacks of 10 warbeads to Telaar... they go to Warden Lolol. I picked up 500 rep points with the Kurenai each turn-in.

If you plan to grind to exalted with Consortium, don't bother turning them in for rep with Kurenai.
You receive 10 rep per ogre kill for Kurenai, so you will hit exalted on quite the same time on both fractions (33% drop chance = 25 rep per 3 mobs for Consortium and 30 rep for Kurenai).

The warbeads are easiest found where the boulderfist ogres are, its about a 20% rate that it will drop.

Doesn't seem to have been mentioned, but you need to be level 65 to hand these in. You get the first hand-in quest at 65 as well, fo' sho'. Keep it real.

the ogre hunters that hang out east of Telaar in Nagrand have a pretty decent drop rate of Obsidian warbeads, for some reason, they aren't listed here, maybe because there aren't a lot of them, but there are enough to farm, just a suggestion.

Just finished a full run of the blouderfist ogres in Nagrand, got 4 warbeads. Ive been farming these for awhile, and was wondering if anyone else noticed a reduced drop rate. I am talking about the level 64-65 ones. I cleared the full cave, all by the quest giver, and the whole area leading to Corki, and the full bottom area including the buildings....

I thought it may have been a change because they had the same drop rate as the level 67-68 ones....

Oh well, I'll see if my luck changes.

Ok i've been nearly everywhere where the beads drop, and i've found that the Laughing Skull Ruins seem to drop the best, ands its taken me (at laughing skull ruins) about a hour to grind 1/4 with a rogue in revered. Seems to be the quickest way.

idk if someone already posted this, but for alliance, u have to complete both of the "Wanted:" quests for Warden Iolol, and then u can turn them in.

I started grinding the boulderfist ogres (Northwind cleft cave 40/29) at 4:54 ended at 5:33 (around 40 mins) and killed: 50 ogres and got....

20 warbeads
9 oshu'gan powders
2 green items
and over 40 netherweave cloth

plus 10 rep every ogre kill for Kurenai which = 500 total rep gained.

It is a long process but if your patient and do a little everyday you will eventually get there. Hope this helps.

You can also grind at The Heap in Netherstorm for Zaxxis Insignias. Those are used for Consortium reps as well but you dont get the Kurenei rep for the kills. IMO the grind for Obsidian Warbeads is easier and more rewarding.

I've been killing the Warrior and Mage ogres to get these beads.

Normally, the drop rate for me is about 1 kill in 4 ... but last night, at about 11:45 PM server time, nearly EVERY OGRE I KILLED dropped one of these.

And this wasn't just a statistical fluke. The drop rate was CONSISTENTLY high until midnight.

I'm wondering ... does the drop rate vary by time of day, like it does for some kinds of fishing?

I don't think I'd call 15 minutes of behavior "consistent". With the present drop rates, and the amount of people farming the beads, there's a considerable chance that every day there will be someone who gets a bead drop on every kill for 40 kills in a row.

just thought i'd post saying how awesome it is farming these at the laughing skull ruins early in the morning, especially as a 70 combat rogue.

in addition to the fast respawns, the
mag'har rep
beads
netherweave cloth
super healing potions
crystal powder
scrolls
food
water
vendor trash
up to 20s
that the ogres drop per kill, i also got lots of greens and a blue.

pickpocketing resulted in further silver and junkboxes containing pots, potion ingredients and flash/blinding powder.

a double money pockpicket trick was also pretty cool here, since i was doing it so much: stealth closely past a mob you have targeted and spam pickpocket really fast. if the mob only has silver to give you, you get the same silver twice instead of once. example:

may not seem like bothering over since it's just 5-10 pickpocketed silver, but when you're killing 35356464 mobs it mounts up.

i also came across a few boxes containing ore.

blade flurry for the pairs around the fires, cloak of shadows for the totems and frost shock, mana tap from the shamans and garadar is a short fly away for when you need to clear your bags.

all in all, it's a walk in the park and very profitable. stick on your favourite music and grind away!

2 hunters roving from one cave to the other in Warmaul Hill and we made 9000 rep each, including war beads.

Much faster than solo.

Farmed these for Kurenai and Consortium, figured I'd add my experience.

Exactly 33% drop rate. I used the southwind cleft, just because it was near Telaar for emptying out bags.

233 beads from 716 Boulderfist Warriors.
219 beads from 673 Boulderfist Mages.

Went up to Laughing Skull briefly one day that my camp got overfull. Same drop rate, mobs were a little bit harder for me though (70 combat rogue), I found the mobs at the North / South cleft's to be quicker kills.

27 beads from 75 Warmaul Shamans.
19 beads from 64 Warmaul Reavers.

About 200 Netherweave per 100 beads. If you make these into Heavy bandages, you get 6g / stack from a vendor, which is the same as 3g / stack of netherweave. AH prices on my server are around 3g10s, so it's very worthwhile to just vendor the bandages. I made a good 30g+ per 100 beads on just netherweave.

Pretty decent money otherwise, I got three blues - Two of Lunacy, a JC design that sold for 300g instantly, and a druid staff (Staff of Braxx-something) that won't sell.

34 green drops in 1528 mobs.

I got about 40 beads in an hour from Warmaul Warlocks and Brutes at Warmaul Hill.

In approximately 2 hours of grinding ogres in the laughing skulls ruins I got the following:

108 netherweave cloths
50 warbeads
1 green vendor fodder
1 Shroud of Spiritual Purity

not including all the gray drops and silver each mob drops

killing the ogres in nagrand are a great way to get war beads and are easy to kill. I farmed these to get up rep from consitoruim (give you a BAG of beads, atleast 1 blue, and about 6 othher greens a month), for xp, and for cloth that i make into bandages and sell to vender (more profit than paying to put them on the AH, atleast in my server, gurubashi)

In about a half hour of grinding these in laughing skull ruins I got 21 warbeads, and 20 netherweave cloth. I found that the shamans are very easy and quick to kill and the drop rate isn't too bad. I'll be grinding these to get exalted.
