This is a very nice axe, and you will probably see a lot of people running around with this one, similar to blackhand doomsaw was back in the day. Also worth mentioning, the sphere in the tip of the axe starts small, and grows bigger until it reaches full glow/size, a very cool effect.

A great looking weapon in my opinion. But pretty hard to get. Second last boss hits very hard, hit me for like 1.5k. And I'm a Tier2+ geared warrior... but well worth it :>

The axe is really nice if you're getting it at level 65. If you don't run instances much, it can last you all the way until level 70 (although there are some better pre-70 2 handers in instances). The only downside to it is that it is 3.4 speed instead of 3.6 (or slower), which means a little bit less dps than a weapon of the same caliber with a slower speed. But for a quick round of arena quests (where you get about 100k xp and 75g) it is an awesome weapon.

Don't get me wrong, it was fun running around with 31% crit chance! In fact, I 2-shotted a horde rogue and then his hunter buddy that jumped me in Nagrand with this thing, but as a human warrior with +5 innate sword skill, I've always enjoyed sword specialization. Plus there tends to be much better 1H swords for tanking than any other weapon type, so the sword spec also lends itself to more dps when I have to tank..

Definately a unique looking axe.. too bad I saw about 15 other people using it yesterday.

I am an enhancement shaman and i can not wait to get this. this looks to be a great shaman or even hunter weapon, since it is a Quest reward we don't have to fight anyone for it.

It's a very nice looking axe, but it's disappointing that it's not any better than a vendor weapon less than half the zone away. The Halaani Claymore https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30597 is every bit as good as it for an MS warrior, a little better even thanks to the Claymore's crit rating and slower speed and it's a pitiful 9G from the Halaa weapon's vendor.

The Ring of Blood, if done with just a five man group and no active spectators, is a tough questline, the reward should outlass a vendor weapon. Regardless I expect that many shammies and ret paladins will probably love it.

So basically if you get the Claymore you will be giving up 3 stamina, 6 AP, 30 Agi and 1.2 DPS for:

11 more base dmg, 27 crit rating, .2 slower weapon speed and you'd be going from axe spec to sword spec. The agi vs crit pretty much evens itself out, 6 AP isn't very much when you're sporting 1500+ with battleshout and enchants. 3 stamina isn't much when you're sporting over 7k HP.

11 more base dmg accompanied with .2 slower weapon and sword spec pretty much means this is an awesome weapon for PvP/MS builds.

Sword spec is superior to axe spec or anything else if you think about the math, the reason being is that sword specs can crit. Think about it which would you rather have 5% more crit, or a 5% chance to get in another swing that has a chance to also crit?

say one guy has a base 30% chance to crit, and specs axe, he'll now have a total of 35% chance to crit. Now take the same geared guy and give him sword spec, so a 30% chance to crit and a 5% chance to proc an extra hit. So in 100 swings, guy #1 will do the following (let's assume each hit does exacly 10 dmg and both characters have impale so that each crit does 170% dmg).

65 normal swings for 650 dmg (60 x 10 dmg)
35 crits swings for 595 dmg (35 X 10 dmg X 170%)

Total dmg is 1245 dmg

Now take the sword spec guy, he'll do the following

70 normal swings for 700 dmg (70 X 10 dmg)
30 crit swings for 510 dmg (30 x 10 dmg X 170%)
3.5 normal sword procs for 35 dmg (3.5 x 10 dmg)
1.5 crit sword procs for 25.5 (1.5 X 10 X 160%)

So a grand total of 1270.5 dmg

Now this doesn't even take into account special abilities which would widen this gap even more.

I like this weapon as a hunter. (i can hear the argument on a hunter having this right now). I like having the extra stamina. Thru this questline I pulled agro like crazy because I was critting like crazy and our tank couldn't hit as fast as I could shoot.

this was an easy quest for us-

66 hunter, 67 hunter

66 druid tanking

67 rogue

67 preist. he was goood

we never wiped, but people died and we had to redo some parts. we took like 20 mins, and made 60+g

overall, its fun, quik, and easy

I just got this axe yesterday on my hunter at lvl 66. I alternate between it and the Adamantite Cleaver (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=23503). The cleaver gives a bit more to AP, while the voidaxe adds a bit more to crit. As a survival hunter, I really like the little bit of extra crit. Not to mention, this axe looks awesome.

Incrdible ret pally/MS warr weapon. Just got on my freshly dinged 65 pally. u get this along w/ about 70000 XP and 70 gold and a great weapon at the end. I would suggest putting a 7+ dmg on it but thats just me

i have this with my warrior and the Claymore isnt really better because that crit rateing is easly topped by specing Pole axes. i have a 23% crit chance in battle stance if i had the claymore id have about 19% because of the claymores rateing. and it is also a very good hunter weapon

Well, I agree that it isn't designed as a hunter weapon. However, if you have the ability to, you can slap a savagery enchant on there and it is much better than any "of the Bandit" of the same level.

I'm currently skilling for my dagger, cuz I find it way better for tanking than Shadowrend Longblade, and I am curious about range. my guess it's not supose to matter since mellee range is mellee range, right?
anyways until the scimitar https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25952 from mana tombs drops for me, this dagger will have to do it!

Damage range still matters. Normalization only applies to AP.

Damage range does indeed matter! A weapon with a higher damage range will ALWAYS hit harder than a weapon with a smaller one, assuming you're using a normalized ability.

Normalization only caps the AP bonus on abilities based on speed. Whenever a skill is used, it will take a number form the damage range, then add and multiply the appropriate bonuses such as AP. So, while it may not be much, damage range does still play a factor.

i got this on my hunter after the chain even with the 70 warrior tank we wiped ~~twice~~.....but who gives a doody this thing PWNS! i love pwning PvP epic pallys with obsidian edged blade LOL!

Looks really weird but kicks ass. Did the quests in the morning with a random group, 2 Palas, 1 Shadow Priest, 1 Tank Druid, 1 Mage. Hardest boss was the one with the 6K MS (No 5?). Final boss was surprisingly easy, but the fight itself was a big surprise :)

Anyway, friggin nice rewards for a 20 min quest chain.

Got this weapon on my shaman immediately after hitting 65. I have white crits for about 1000, and with windfury, I get somthing like 1000 white+like 1800 windfury crits so its about 2800 damage, extremely easy to kill mobs my level or a level or 2 above.

This axe is nice. Was not that hard a fight, did it 5 man (while to allies where fistfighting with us - very funny). The sec I got it, a guildy enchanted it with + 70 ap. It's insane - having a weapon with a total of 100 ap.

and so:- 31 Strength = 62AP + 70 =132..not 100 ;-)

this weapon is a direct upgrade from a r14 2 hander in most cases; more stam, AP, and crit. You lose 0.4 top end at the gain of dps, and since most specials are normalized this change is not that significant.

Boy did I get lucky. A group of 68-70's were doing this quest while I was watching the mayhem and one had to drop so I got invited. Having this Axe at 65 will definetly help me complete the rest of the quests in the region.

I will say this, on Icecrown the Alliance are like cockroaches. They broke the goblin questgiver many times...some times were funny, like when Brokentoe and the Champion somehow got summoned together and WTFPWNd the whole area...including the peeps just trying to do quests...lol. Other times not so funny, like when trying to complete/start quests and getting my reward. Over all the quest chain is really fun and challanging...this weapon owns face.

i got this on my hunter and i am currently using it as my main weapon. but i was debating...should i use Adamantite Cleaver or this? this thing does look badass and i crit a 64mage{NON-raptor strike} for 1008 and i got a 731 Kill Command! hahahaha so give me sum suggestions

I find this to be a very nice weapon, and since more people seem willing to participate in the Ring of Blood quests than go to the Setthek Halls, it's much easier to obtain than Terrok's Quill. Worth the effort.

Just got this weapon on Khaz'goroth.It's from a quest chain in nagrand at 65(5 man elite quest chain). It's a pretty straightforward chain, just kill about 5 bosses in arena,each boss gets harder.The quest chain all together nets about 60-70k xp and 70 gold.

This axe also has an awesome graphic btw...

**You MUST be 65 to start this chain!** The quest chain starts AT the arena (43, 20) and when you select "Accept" the quests starts. There are in total 6 quests, each of which gives about an 11.5g and 14500xp reward and some health pots and bandages. At the end you get a choice of 5 very awesome blue weaps for every class.

You can do this chain in a well-balanced 5-man group but what is recommended (and easy since many people want to do this quest) is to have two groups go at the same time. Each group switch off to do each boss until both groups are done. The group on the quest simply tags and the other group tears them down. Did it tonight and went very smoothly. A single horde was there and we helped him through the first three of the chain and then killed him so we could finish LOL.

Anyways.. this chain is definitely worth doing because of the XP, money, AND the reward you get :D

You MUST be level 65 to complete this quest chain. You get the quests in the LAUGHING SKULL RUINS in northern Nagrand. You grab the quest from the goblin standing there next to this large pit(the arena). There are a total of 6 quests to do, all of which can be done easily with a good 66+ 5 man group. Usually when you do this quest there are several other groups there and they will usually aid you in your fights. The final quest is a fight against Mogor(I think thats his name), which is the Ogre-Mage standing next to the quest giver. After killing Mogor twice(he resurrects after you kill him the first time), turn in the quest to the goblin for your Honed Voidaxe.

The easiest way to finish this questline is to have 2 groups of 5 work together. Recruit 10 ppl to do it either from your guild or in general chat in the zone. Then just take turns starting the quest and have both groups fight the mob. You don't have to worry about tagging the mob, whichever group starts the quest will get credit for the kill. Then that group turns in the quest, everyone heals up, and the next group starts it. Repeat until all the bosses are dead. Also, remember, if you die and release you don't get credit and it counts the quest as failed. You have to wait for a rez to get credit for the kill. Of course if the whole group wipes, you just run back and try it again.

Seriously though, the communication between the groups (assuming it is PUG) is by far the hardest part. Just take control, communicate with /s, and try your best to keep everyone patient. Don't forget to remind ppl not to release if they die, b/c if they do then they don't get credit and you have to do it again. For quite some time I felt like king of the freaking noobs out there today, but getting that axe is well worth the headache. With 10 ppl it was easy to kill the mobs even at 65.

Oh, and I put Savagery on it. Mats were about 60g on the AH.

OK - First off the Ring Of Blood quest chain is HARD! Here is what we did on Dethecus (it was quite inspiring

5man team x2

One team would start the first boss with both team healers on heal duty. after a few seconds to build aggro the second team jumps in and helps finish it off. then switch and help 2nd team out. Went very smoothly tank died a few times but no wipes! BTW our tank was a 67 warrior and the other teams tank was a VERY feral druid with an UNSTOPPABLE dire bear - Impressive to say the least

I recommend doing it that way so you can get it done and get your axe or the staff (Which is equally SICK!) I am a 69 Awesome spec Pally - scored the axe & threw +22 INT on it and called it good - now my white dmg non crit is at least 350 - 400 per swing! Crits have toppled 4 digits (not great for some classes but freaking amazing for a pally! not to mention the three instant cast spells that do mad dmg as well + new DoT + AoE = Insane DPS - oh yeah, I can heal too ;-)

For your first time to the ring of blod - This area should be marked as CAREBEAR ARENA - to start a war with an oposing factions team = everyone dies due to the boss going nuts and killing everyone as well as the Ogres all near by.

Just be nice - my first time there some idiot attacked the patiently waiting horde priest which caused all ten of them to go freaking crazy and am all out PVP war broke out! Not a good thing

What people shall remember when doing that quest :

You CANNOT interact with the NPC once an event is started.

Therefore MAKE SURE everybody in the group had enought time to talk to the npc and collect their prices !

Whatch out for those like me who always have bag full : some steps are quite rewarding like 3-4 stacks of potions... make sure you have room to secure all that stuff !

And of course : everybody shall report to the pnj once a boss is down ! Each time the whole group is fine with the previous quest, start the next one !

All boss are pretty much easy so any good group shall take them down without much trouble. Just make sure everybody does what he is supposed to do... warrior tanking, priest healing, and so on.

Outsiders can help you, make sure you help them in return !

careful on last guy, after you kill him the first time, he rezzes and you have to kill him again warriors, MAKE SURE YOU USE UR SPELL REFLECTION when he casts chain lightning, AWESOME ABILITY

ummm yeah, i'm getting this on my warrior should i ever continue leveling him. sure i won't have awesome stuns from my TUP/mace spec anymore, but i think it's time for a change. also, when my rogue is getting hit with white crits over 1000 with this, yeah. it's pretty cool.

I dont think its possible to crit for 6k-7k on a lvl 68 pally. I have a lvl 68 pally myself and i dont see any way you could crit that much

Hmmm, with a two-hand reckoning and a SoC (really specific build, I love it)... MAYBE... you really need to have insane gear and you need to be verry lucky.

Both whites have to crit, I can get them up to 1200 on lvl 67 and my gear ain't that good, so I guess that a well geared lvl 68 - 70 maybe even could hit for about 2000 dmg. Then the SoC has to proc, those I get up to 1500, again, a well geared lvl 68 - 70 should be able to get that up to 2200 easy.

So... 2000 + 2000 + 2200 = 6200

But that happens once in a blue moon, for me it's more like 600 + 600 + 800 = 2000

What enchantment would you suggest for this voidaxe when wielded by a 65+ paladin?

I am looking at Potency or Mighty Intellect, but not sure.

I am also tempted to do a Fiery or some other damage enchant, but they are low level ones (if that matters) and they tend to have less effect once you are above lvl60.

Any suggestions please?

got this one the other day, will get me to 70.. with a group of 5 70's this quest is piss, for all who want to know where it is. it is north-west of garadar.. a very good reward for a very good quest, also make about 70 gold as it is a chain with 11 gold per quest, each take about 2 mins :D, cheers!

It glows on its own, enchants add another glow to it! The glow ball in the center grows brighter and brighter, unholy weapon would look OP on it just for aesthetic uses.

Ehh I chose this over the healing mace for my Paladin for 2 reasons. It has much better stats than that of the Hellreaver, and I'm not going full Holy spec until 70. On top of that, the +30 agility gives me about 2%+ chance to crit. Good luck getting this. It took:
Lv66 Paladin (me), healing.
Lv65 Warrior "tanking"
Lv70 Lock
Lv 65-67 Rogues.
We wiped a good 7 times throughout all the bosses.

mmk ill i want to say is that when you see the oppisite faction doing this quest do not attack them

in fact i would recommend helping them out becuase i tried this chain 3 times with 5 man 66+ and we couldnt down him, on the fourth try we helped these 5 horde down the last three guys then they retuerned the favor by helping us finish the entire chain

after your done of course you need to not be a &*!@# and wage war on them and waste time *!@#ing around

Tried doing Ring of blood with my pala..
10 allys was watching us, helping us through the chain. BUT
then a hunter ninja pulled the last boss, and after boss was down, they pwned us so we got quest failed... and we got corpsecamped

Should be a general rule: Do NOT gank @ Ring of Blood.
It's not "world pvp" to gank a group trying to down a boss, that s just pure lameness. Help them kill the boss, rest, and THEN you can have a war if you like. But stop making it impossible to complete this quest, please.

killing the final guy is an enormous pain, but it is SOOOOOOO worth it, just keep trying and youll get it eventually, got the axe today and it is Awsome!

Just got this today, awesome fights, wiped once on Mogor round 2 though XD Made about 60g by doing the qs in quest gold rewards so very cool, will keep me to 70 :D I dinged 66 as well by doing the quests.

um .... ur appratnley not level 70, this is NOT the best weapon in the game .... Best weapons depend alot on classes and weapon specs ( for rogues paladin and warriors ) For example a warrior with a staff with something like +20 int. and +200 spell damage is pointless. And enchants dont make a weapon amazing btw just gives em a nice boost. Have a nice day. And level 70 epic weapons, arena, raiding or heroic dungeons are WAY better than this, dont get me wrong its a nice level 65 wep. I used it 65-68 (until I got terokkars quill) This is nice for ret paladins ( holy may want to aim towards the 1h mace because u need to work on +healing gear if u want to raid ) Hunters (also dagger and fist wep ... if they can use fist wep not sure ) and nice for warriors. =)

I did these quests at 65 with a 65 rogue, 66 pally (healer) 70 feral druid and 70 hunter. BTW i was hunter too.
All of them arre easy cept for final boss who resses to full health, Took us three tries to get final guy dead. GREAT AXE! good luk

we did this wtih one group and a lv 70 healer with a lv 65 shaman back up healer and a lv 70 paladin a 65 shaman elemental and two lv 67 warlock and it took us like 40 mins but the last boss rezes 2 so dont think you have it after the last one and he heals himself towards the end he is defintaley the hardest one but we had a little help from a couple alli so all together there were about 7 alli and horde and we helped eachother through the end we ended up finishing it all up with the help of a little friends :)

Terokk's Quill is better than the axe and is obtainable at the same level. The quest is rather easy, as the only thing you have to do is to finish Sethekk Halls. As a tank, level 65, in Sethekk Halls I found it hard to tank, so be warned that you might need a good group.

I think for a Ret pally (which i am),i had terroks quill before this,and i think this axe is much better,(stat wise).I crit about 1.3k-1.35k,and with crusader strike i hit for about 1.5k so its awesome =),also took m group 2 hours to fifnish the chain,with a 70 lock,70 rogue,70 paladin,Me (lvl 67 paladin),and lvl 70 warrior. also killed a bunch of allis doing the quest =P

Ok, got this a while ago as a 65 Warrior, took a little wile but worth is for sure. Had to get a lvl 70 plus four of us 65's. It was pretty easy till we got to the champion (The guy right before the last guy) And we all died, so we re-did it, but this time with another lvl 70, plus 4 lvl 70 allies and 3 lvl 65-67 allies, it was simple =).

If you die while fighting any of the mobs, u will fail and have to re-do it (just that one part, do the whole thing). So unless you get a lot of lvl 70's, bring heal pots and a good healer.

Some people think that it's not worth it to do at 65 (about), and think that they should do it at 70 for the gold. Yes, it's good gold, but if you get a weapon like this at 65, you pwn the mobs. It was a hard decision at first because of how good i could tell the gold would be, but it's defiantly worth it to do at 65.

Great weapon, great xp, and good gold. Do the quest, you wont be sorry.

there is a 1Hander u can get at Area 52 that looks just like this, stats suck though. If you're higher than 66 don't bother just for the voidaxe, if u want the xp go ahead, but at 68 you can use the Oathkeeper. I got mine for 25g on AH. Blows this guy out of the water.
