I was able to fish these commonly right out of the Allerian Stronghold in Terokkar, near the Flight Master.

The water came up as too high of a skill with 300+25, so I used a bauble for another +75. At 400, I was barely able to catch anything, but with an Aqua. Fish Attractor, I managed good bites at 425 total fishing.

This is the trash fish of Outlands. Unless you are fishing in named pools, you will get stacks and stacks of this with about a 20% drop of 1 of 2 other buff food fish.

Feltail + Sporefish in Zangar

Darter + Feltail in Terrok(normal areas)

Mudfish + Bluefin in Nagrand

Basically useless fishing in Shadowmoon or Hellfire unless you are going for skillups.

Barbed Gill Trout can be used to cook these https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=33048 the recipe is trainable from Kylene in Worlds End Tavern within Shattrath city. You find alot of these fishing in outland so with this recipe you can make good use of them :)

I've got about 80 of these smelling up my bank, not sure about their use, I've asked in general chat but no one seems to know. I'm not sure if this means they're useless like some of the fish you got pre-bc primarily in AV but if anyone could help me out by giving an explanation it would be much appreciated.

You can fish these in Pools of Agonnar as well. I believe it'd have lower fishing requirements, but I'm not sure.

If you cook these (Blackened Trout), the resulting food sells for 30s per stack. The uncooked fish, only sells for 1s 60c'ish per stack. Since it takes no other mats to make, it's a nice way to turn around cash if you have a ton of these and would otherwise destroy or vendor them.

Makes great food for an alt hunter Pet if you are leveling fishing between 275 and 375. My alts pet is at 28 and will eat this. With the amount of fishing you do you will never have to buy food for your pet again.

Apparently as of 2.4 these fish can't be caught in Shadowmoon Valley. I guess the lava is too hot for them lol.

Recipe: Blackened Trout Trout is what you can make with these.

Also, this item is great pet food while raw. At level 60, it's a full 35 per tick of happiness. Dunno about higher, since I just got my pet to 59 when someone sent me a care package of a stack of this raw fish and the message: "FREE KITTEH FOOD!"

I can't find any mention of a recipe using this fish. Does one exsist and it's just not listing in Al's web site here?

The recipe can be found in Zangarmarsh. Doba (cords 42, 27) at the Orebor Harborage has the Recipe: Blackened Trout for alliance. All you have to do first is to become friendly with Kurenai as you start off as unfriendly with them.

Yeah but the recipe is not very good and would not sell in AH. So unless you eat a lot of plain non stat food dont bother! :P

I fish these in Terrokar Forest (Req Fishing 355) in Allerian Stronghold (bottom SE corner of map)

The advantages of fishing in that town are two-fold.

One: You can fish from inside the town so no being disturbed by mobs.

Two: While this recipe sucks, you will also be catching Golden Darters. These can be made into Golden Fish Sticks that sell for around 23g a stack on my server.

The recipe for Golden Fish Sticks is found at the inn in Allerian Stronghold.

Hordies can still fish there but from outside the walls, heh.
