For those that dont know, this pet is only obtainable from having a high fishing skill and a lucky pole. =) You get a Mr. Pinchy who has 3 "wishes" on a 2 day cooldown. This is one of the possible wishes.

This is one of 5 possible effects gotten from using one of the 3 charges (or wishes) on Mr. Pinchy. Look up Mr. Pinchy for more info on the other effects.

Mr. Pinchy is only fished out of Highland Mixed Schools. There are a total of 17 Highland mixed schools in the three Fly-to only lakes in Terrokar Forest. 3 in Lake Jorune above Stonebreaker point, 4 that spawn in lake Ere'Noru, just above and behind Allerian Stronghold, and 10 in Blackwind Lake/Skettis area. Mr. Pinchy's drop rate appears to be about a 0.2% drop rate on successful casts (about 2 out of 1000 or 1 in 500 casts) so be prepared to spend alot of time on this.

Had 527 Fishing when i caught him each of the 5 times, counting my lure...The game maximum:
375 Base Fishing, +35 Fishing Arcanite Fishing Pole, +5 Fishing High Test Eternium Fishing Line, +5 Fishing Lucky Fishing Hat, +5 Fishing Nat Pagle's Extreme Angling Boots, and +2 Fishing skill to glove enchant. and +100 Fishing Aquadynamic Fish Attractor.
You will no longer receive "your fish got away" messages at 525 fishing or higher (only attainable with all fishing tournament rare fish rewards and the Arcanite Fishing Pole won from the sunday Fishing Tournament.)

Got the Magical Crawdad Box off of the first wish on the 5th Mr. Pinchy that I caught.

This guy has got to be hands down, the hardest small pet to obtain. First you have to level up fishing to 375, (a chore in it's self) then you need to win the fishing tournament and get the 3 rares from it as well. Then you will have the skill to attempt to catch Mr. Pinchy. As if the 2% "drop rate" wasn't bad enough, when/if you finally get Mr. Pinchy you have 3 tries to get the Magical Crawdad Box, and you get to wait up to almost a week to find out if any of those 3 charges have him. Good thing Mr. Pinchy isn't unique, but even still.

I am not sure if I am willing to test my sanity on this guy

I didn't have 375 Fishing when I caught him, I had about 364.
The actual required skill to catch him is 450 and up, so a fishing skill of 350 and the +100 lure would suffice, only difference with a higher skill is u get less "fish got away" messages.

But now with the upcoming patch and the nerf/buff to fishing it will be even easier to skill to 375 and to catch him. :)

And for those that didn't know;
Engineers can make the +100 Lure (Aquadynamic Fish Attractor) so you don't have to go around buying up all the limited ones from vendors. :)

My wife got Mr.Pinchy on about her third day of fishing in Terokkar, with a total of about three to four hours of fishing. In either a stroke of extremely good luck, or bad luck depending on how you look at it, she got Magical Crawdad Box twice in a row on her first and second wishes.

Her fishing was at 375, a +25 fishing pole, and +100 lure.

You don't have to have any of the fishing rares (hat, boots, line) or the fishing pole reward from the fishing competition to get this pet. They are only neccesary if you want to avoid the "Your fish got away" message. They don't improve your odds of getting the Pet.

Also, the drop rate for Mr. Pinchy is 0.2% or 1 in 500, not 2%.

Mathematical probability (using the Law of Large Numbers):

Since there are 5 possible outcomes, the probability of getting the Magical Crawdad Pet is most likely 1 in 5, or 20%.

With three "charges" per Mr. Pinchy, the probability of getting the Magical Crawdad Pet with each individual Mr. Pinchy is 48.8%.

Getting 2 Mr. Pinchys gives you a 73.8% chance to get the Crawdad Pet.
Getting 3 Mr. Pinchys gives you a 86.6% chance to get the Crawdad Pet.
Getting 4 Mr. Pinchys gives you a 93.1% chance to get the Crawdad Pet.
Getting 5 Mr. Pinchys gives you a 96.5% chance to get the Crawdad Pet.

Keep in mind that this is just statistical analysis of the probability of the event occuring before you start trying to get him. The Gambler's Fallacy says that no matter how many charges you've used unsuccesfully, each charge still hold exactly a 20% chance of yielding the pet. If you haven't gotten the Magical Crawdad Pet by your 5th Mr. Pinchy, then you'd best stop trying or you just might go crazy.

Like most loot its random, I have 375 Fishing, the +20 skill quest pole from outland and a +100 lure and ive fished this up three times now, on the first charge of the third one ive looted ive finally got my crawdad pet.

It's a matter of sheer luck, i fished for 20 minutes, caught him on the 7th catch and gave me the non combat pet on the first wish, best of luck to all you pet collectors.

I was extremely lucky getting this. I got my first ever Mr. Pinchy and on my last wish it yielded my magical crawdad. :D I'm a happy priest now. Just wish he would pinch all my gankers to death :(

Just got him off Mr. Pinchey. I only have 351 fishing ATM and used a Strong Fishing Pole (+5) and +100 lure. I fished nearly exclusevily off the mixed highland school from 335-551, it was slow but I had nothing better to do.

This whole time I thought Mr. Pinchey was found in a box you get off them and he was looted from the box, but he was cought just like a fish, with the "binds when you loot" warning. I made my first wish and "Poof" there was the Crawdad!!! WoooT

Few fun info: No sound effect if you spam click it, you can hear the leg tapping while walking by you side (try on wooden floor e.g on boat), swims like a fish in water and taps weird sounds on water banks :P

I finally snagged one! So i fished out a Mr. Pinchy on my 1st cast, then after I was done with that Highland Mix, I moved over like 3 ft and fished my other Mr. Pinchy out after the 3rd cast. Had to wait 8 days with all the combined cool-downs but i got him on my 4th wish. 1st Mr. Pinchy gave me Furious Mr. Pinchy, Blessing, and Gift with heal/mana pots in it. After My pet dropped I got another Blessing, and lastly Furious Mr.Pinchy. I read somewhere that the drop rate for the actual pet is 1 in 5 wishes, so all you fishers/collectors out there, remember it might not be in the 1st set of wishes. Happy hunting!

I'm thinking either they've changed the drop rate, or I had a poorly spent bit of insane luck. Caught my first Mr. Pinchy, got the 5x mana/healing potions on the first wish, and a Mechanical Crawdad on my second AND my third wish! Shame you can only have one pet out at a time.

I fished up Mr Pinchy last week from a Highland Mixed School in the Skettis Lake.

First wish was a +500 health buff.
Second wish was 5 x Mana & Heal Pots
Third wish was a Magical Crawdad Box! Yay!

My one toon has been 375 fishing for several months and has fished well over 1000 crawdads out of the pools.. Never Saw Mr. Pinchy...

An Alt I have just hit 315 fishing and with the sharpened fish hooks and Seth Pole, I can catch fish in the highland mix pools about 50% of the time, the rest I lose them.. Being a warrior though he loves the crawdads.. But usually just use my main to supply him..

I had some time to kill waiting on the spirit towers and started to fish and after just a few , nabbed a Mr. Pinchy.. Went ahead and used the First Charge and *bang* Got the Magical Crawdad Box... I couldnt beleive it..Still on Cool Down for the next 2 charges..wondering if I should even bother :) ...

My Main was so pissed.... =P

Mr. Pinchy is an exceptionally rare catch from Highland Mixed Schools, first found by Roopert and confirmed by El. Mr. Pinchy is classified as rare and is bound to you on pickup, so be very careful when using automatic loot/re-cast.

I caught one after 375 pool catches, and then nothing more from a total of over a thousand catches. Your mileage may vary. And someone will always manage to cast a line and pull Mr. Pinchy straight out. But the "catch rate" seems to be in the order of 0.1%. Since you'll struggle to get more than 50 catches an hour, expect to invest most of a day to catch this.

((Mr. Pinchy is assumed to be a reference to Homer Simpson's pet lobster of the same name in The Simpsons.))

Mr. Pinchy will grant three wishes, with a two day "cooldown" between wishes. The description reads:

"Use: Speak with Mr. Pinchy and be granted a Wish! Maybe something good...maybe something bad...Mr. Pinchy does not know!"
Using Mr. Pinchy triggers the spell cast "Make a Wish". The confirmed results of this cast are randomly one of:

Benevolent Mr. Pinchy: Summons a level 70 non-elite guardian which assists you in battle. 10 minute duration.
Gift box with 5 Super Healing Potions and 5 Super Mana Potions.
Magical Crawdad Box containing a Magical Crawdad non-combat pet.
Mr. Pinchy's Blessing: Health increased by 1200. This effect persists through death and is considered a flask. 2 hour duration.
Furious Mr. Pinchy: Level 70 non-elite attacks you and your party. Furious Mr. Pinchy has 5560 HP and is killed quite easily. Corpse cannot be looted.
The Magical Crawdad Box is Soulbound, like Mr. Pinchy. So only the original angler can have a Magical Crawdad pet. In theory someone who was in the angler's group when Mr. Pinchy was caught can group-loot Mr. Pinchy, and so gain the pet without being able to fish - but that is untested.

((Mr. Pinchy is not unique, so you can have more than one in your inventory at once. However there were several bugs caused by having more than one Mr. Pinchy, that may not be fixed in retail versions: All Mr. Pinchys share the same cooldown, so only one can be used every two days. If the first charge on a new Pinchy is used while the other Pinchy only has one charge remaining, both Pinchys will have just one charge remaining when you next log on - one use will be lost completely.))

Can't be group looted. Possibly master looted I was showing someone where the pools were and tossed a line in and snagged one. I laughed. I cried. I got attacked by a giant lobster. Funny thing is after being 375 fishing since march I'd never caught one and I caught another less than 24 hours later. Fun times.

I started leveling up Fishing just so I could try to catch Mr. Pinchy and get the Magical Crawdad pet. I was 336 Fishing with +100 lure and +20 pole (so 456 Fishing) when I cast in my line and caught him. It was only my second day at fishing in the Highland Mixed Pools and I wasn't putting a lot of effort into it yet. When I caught Mr. Pinchy, I got excited and my husband wound up coming over to see what I was squealing about. Haha!

Unfortunately, the first charge was the Furious Mr. Pinchy, so I hope one of the next two charges yields the pet.

I've caught 3 Mr. Pinchys in the last two weeks or so. The last two came with two days of each other. So maybe the drop rate has been increased or I'm just lucky. I'm running with 520 skill. In any case, on my first Mr. Pinchy, I got the mob the first two wishes, and then today I got the pet on the third wish. It rocks. Still have two full Mr. Pinchys to burn through.

Started farming this pet a little while ago, not really putting too much effort into it. I spent about an hour on two different days trying to get it with no luck, not that I was really expecting it anyway. Tonight I went up to Skettis and found 3 different people farming the schools, so I left. On my way back, I saw a lone node so I decided...hey, why not? Wonder of wonders, on my second cast I pulled up a Mr. Pinchy! I was extremely excited, but decided to go to Org before trying out my first charge. I vendored the crap I had in my bags, repaired, and finally used my Mr. Pinchy.

First wish, I got my Crawdad Box. Today was a good day. =)
