300 armor provides an additional 2.76% physical damage reduction (at level 70). Since this scroll stacks with elixirs, buffs, et cetera, it couldn't hurt to save these for your main tank. Every little bit helps during a raid.

Damage reduction from armor is subject to diminishing returns, yes. Despite this, the benefit in terms of expected lifespan without heals scales linearly as armor increases (up to the cap)

In practical terms, while going from 0-300 armor gives more mitigation than going from 8000-8300, the increase in lifespan is the same in both cases. If going from 0-300 armor lets your tank live one second longer without heals, going from 8000-8300 armor will also let your tank live one second longer without heals.

The effect doesn't stack with the exalted tank ring from MH. So when the ring proccs, the scroll-buff is completely removed.
