Personally, I'd choose this over Greatsword of Horrid Dreams for the +spell crit. The only thing you're losing is 9 spell damage.

This sword is nearly identical to Greatsword of Horrid Dreams, except that it has some crit rating, no hit rating, and 9 less +damage.

I got this a few days ago in a heroic run, shortly before I got my Stormcaller. (which is a straight upgrade of this sword) However, I have yet to disenchant it for the reason that it is the best looking caster sword in the game:

- its perfectly sized. not too big as to look awkward, not too small as to be unnoticed

- it has an orange glow that perfectly matches the fire mage wardrobe; additionally, no other caster sword I've ever seen has had an orange glow, making it unique

- the base graphic itself is very cool-looking

If you get it and then replace it, I suggest keep it for those moonlit walks in Shattrath. Good looking items are always worth the bagslot.

I would take this for my tanking paladin over Horrid Dreams. I don't have trouble with a lot of resists, but a critical on a big holy dmg judgement is a nice fat burst of threat. Plus I think this sword looks way better than the eyesore of horrid dreams.

I have through 2 years of WoW yet to see a BoP world drop, so I would say nope.

Uther's Strength was before it was changed.

Nice sword, though only very slightly better than Runesong dagger which drops in the shattered halls (in normal mode)

This sword is just about neck-and-neck with Greatsword of Horrid Dreams; Greatsword has 9 more +dmg but the main difference is that it has +14 HIT, not CRIT =P and this one has +17 CRIT. Too me dropping the Greatsword for this would be worth it seeing as I have plenty of hit already.

To hit or crit... hmm...

While it is a great sword, and looks wicked awesome, it's no where near as good as the sword Horde and Alliance can get for being Exalted with Thrallmar (Horde) or Honor Hold (Alliance).

true it doesnt have as much +SP as greatsword, BUT it has +CRIT. i guess it depends what you are going for, but id rather have this. AND farming heroic Blood Furnace for this will help you gain rep for the Stormcaller. so really, going for this sword is a win-win.

I got this sword first attempt and i love it.

always have people asking me where i got it, havnt seen anyone else on my realm with it.

heroic bf can be abit tricky with that 2nd boss event.

Why? Because it takes less hit rating to get one percent hit than it does crit rating to get one percent crit.

Thus, until you reach the hit cap (Which does happen very easily in pvp, keep in mind), hit is better point for point than crit.

people who argue about such little stats percentage are morons.

I got this sword on my first attempt of heroic Blood Furnace. It's appearance seems to draw a great deal of attention. The greatsword is however a slightly superior weapon in terms of damage output. But every inbred mouthbreather has a greatsword of horrid dreams while only a scarce few have this badboy. If you want to be vain wear this around orgrimmar and wear the greatsword when in a raid.

How hard is heroic bf neway? i heard casters get 1 shotted but i find that hard to belive maybe a mage. They get 1 shotted by ambushes. Im a lock with 8500 health how can that happen + contineum blade is mutch better.

i can think of three swords that are easier as good or better than this (in everything except arguably looks): the SL greatsword, the caverns of time revered sword, and the SH dagger. So, I can see why if this drops it's something of a disappointment, as it's rare a mage or warlock won't already have this thing beat by the time they see it.
