Nope. Warhelm of the Bold is part of the Tier 3.5 tanking set. I wouldn't recommend choosing the Wrath look alike helm over Bold, but it's all up to you in the end.

I consider this to be an "early" endgame tanking helm...Early because it drops from non-heroic, and you are likely to see it before you would get:

Now that being said, for early tanking, the Felsteel Helm loaded with 3 +9 Stam gems (+9 Stam gems are pretty cheap)
Gives the Felsteel 285 more armor, 6 more stam, 3 more def

For early tanking I would rather have 285 armor, 6 stam and 3 def than 36 str and good looks.

I actually purchased the Felsteel AFTER I got this to drop, and even though I love the way this looks, I still prefer the stats on the felsteel.

If you wanted to spend the cash, you could go with 3 +12 stam gems for a total of 63 stam in the felsteel

If you don't have the gold to spend on felsteel (you should be able to find it for 50G or less) and it happens to drop for you....great. Otherwise, just get felsteel

easy instance, easier loot. not worth getting.

While this may not be as superior in comparison to a few other helmets such as Bold helm and Felsteel, it shouldnt be underestimated. It is MUCH easier to get, and has some very good stats for how easy it is to get. Your other option if you want to be lazy is to get Myrmidon's Headdress, which is, ultimately, not worth socketing unless you don't plan on getting Felsteel or Bold helm, as the price would get high for something thats so easily replacable.

I, like other tanks, am torn between this helm and the FelSteel Helm. Both look cool, but I believe the Unbreakable looks way better. In the end, it really depends on what a tank needs. I like the 36 str. on this helm because you can't get that much str. by gemming. Also, slap a +16 def. rating and +17 dodge rating (Glyph of the Defender) from Keepers of Time rep. on this bad boy and you'll be in some serious tanking business. I would say go with the Unbreakable if you're a tank.

Yeah but hat if:

1. You are a Paladin Tank and you don't want to get the Bold Set.

2. You don't have 350 in Blacksmithing

my Paladin is a level 68 protection Paladin. I am running Shattered Halls to get this helm. If i were 4/5 Righteous with This helm i still get the 4/5 dungeon tier 3 bonus and this would serve useful till i obtained the righteous helmet. This is an excellent Tanking Helmet for a warrior, but a Paladin would benefit more from this, IF you could get the Holy Spellpower from other means.

i agree that felsteel and myrmidon are better helms than this, and even better are yet to come through heroics and raids, but i will keep it, so that i can wear it when i'm running around SW or IF or Shattrath vendoring and trading because it looks so effing cool.

Myrmidon's Headdress is better because it has sockets and for the +33 def. rating,think that every point in defense matters and don't pick this one only because it looks like helm of wrath,the myrmidon's headdress is better :D

Drops off the first boss in Hellfire Citadel, Shattered Halls.. Looks just like the Wrath Helm, except it is re-skinned.. Pretty wicked : )

This item is part of a set which uses the Wrath item models, except with different colours and similar statistics. It has no set bonuses, however.

As I near closer to 70 and my guild prepares for Karazhan, I'm trying to figure out which helm is better for tanking? This helm or the Myrmidon's Helm(+def and +stam sockets on it)

i dumped my helm of wrath @ 66 for clefthoof helm...vendor'd that pig. On another note, if a pally rolled on this vs. a MT prot warrior i'd boot his ass from guild/group unless warrior had something better already. YES you can tank well in an instance....but on a boss fight compared to a prot spec ur a peon. Without sunder and demo-shout you are only benefitting yourself in a fight rather than your group and lets face it, if you are tanking even with all your +dmg buffs and talents you suck compared to the dps classes (as does a prot warrior) in your group. If you couldn't bubble/heal you'd be gank food.

The difference is:

with sunder x5 your dps is downing the boss that much faster.
Taunt and challenge shout can save the whole group quickly.
Battle shout gives your rouge a serious boost to down that boss faster.
Challenge shout can save that rouges ass if he happens to get hit and healer is watching you.
With Demo shout if the boss has AOE attacks they are that much weaker.
Last stand can finish the fight sometimes
Shield Wall can save the team.
with MS a healing boss does so that much slower (from a hybrid tank)
spell reflect, thunderclap...blah blah.

Your build is for Grinding/OT. Your more desireable in a raid as a healer. Feral druids OT or Tank WAY better. Don't screw the Prot warrior that saved your wannabe ass if he doesn't have something as good or better. Fury/Arms warrior well fine...equal roll.

Paladins can do a very good job of tanking if they are specced correctly. Their threat can continue to build very high. But warriors are still much better at getting aggro back with sunders, taunts, challenging shout and last post is correct about last stand can save the day as it's like a healthstone in itself. Not forgetting commanding shout can be switched to from battle shout for an extra 1k life to all party members.

Was running this with a warrior friend (Im a Pally. Since he was full fury I was tanking. This helm dropped, so I said I'd like but the warrior gets dibs if he wanted (we're the only plate wearers). He says lets roll since I'm tanking. We roll, he wins. Then the mage rolls and adds a lol. Then the rogue and priest roll. The Priest gets high number and immediately loots. Amazing. Guess its the price the warrior pays for being a gentleman. At a 13% drop rate only 5 runs to get a 50% chance at it again.

if you think even for a second that a good geared pally can outtank a prot warrior u are $%^&in insane. SW and LS plus CS owns anything a pally can do to saty alive but bubble...did i forget to mention that we have taunt and Challenging shout which pulls aggro for 6 sec guranteed? Plus , if you're smart then u put a point in devestate which for u noobs who dont know: GENERATES AGGRO PER SUNDER... x5 sunders then devestate = lots of !@#$in aggro

I'm the MT of my guild, and they wanted me to get this helm. So they just kept on running me to the first bos over and over again untill it dropped on 4th run. Then we decided to finish the instance, and i also got the leggings that match this helm. So i have the the helm, leggings, gloves, chest, im trying to get the whole lvl 70 version of wrath

I do not understand why someone wouldn't just pick up a Felsteel Helm instead. People craft them to level, so they're cheap.

This is a pain to get, it took me exactly 22runs to get. Dont waste your time on getting it, get a Felsteel Helm instead.

dropped my first run :D no pallys in group, then the bad ass main hand Fist weapon dropped from Kargath. I was only one who wanted it again . Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't, I've ran Shadow Labs scores of times and havent gotten the shoulders of the bold or the damn blue shield.

GL tanks, ferals, and tankadins.

I got both Felsteel helmet and this one but I'm using Felsteel helmet because I got 9x stamina sockets on it. Should I use Greathelm instead ?

WTF? Why does every piece of tanking gear turn in to an argument about pallies vs. warriors?

Pallies are the best five man tanks, heroic and non heroic, hands down. Frontloaded threat and high sustained threat are both FTW when mobs are dying very fast. Alliance paladins are especially lucky with their sustained threat, seal of vengeance is the $%^&. Don't diss a class you don't understand. I know tanks don't usually run with other tanks in the group so it's normal for tanking warriors to not understand tanking pallies, but having a 70 prot warrior and 70 prot pally myself I can say from experience that tanking instances as a pally is a million times easier and more fun for the whole group.

BTW to the idiot above, pallies have taunt too and challenging shout is a moot point since the aggro of off-mobs is never an issue for anyone in a pally's group unless someone is dpsing the wrong target. Also, LoH > last stand or shield wall. Instantly refilling your health to full and getting a bit of mana back is FTW.

the only use for this helm is if you can get it at lvl 68 use it till lvl 70 when you will get felsteel helm. my brothers tankadin just got this, but with stam gems (who the hell would put a stam agility gem in this helm for the 3 hit rating bonus...) its more stamina and more defense, altogether better, so use this from 68-70 if you happen to get it. (yes a 68 tankadin can tank shattered halls)

this helmet is good until lvl 70 at lvl 70 go buy Felsteel Helm for about 30+ gold in auction house its not the much and its good until u get t4...as for the pally vs warrior tanking thing they can both tank im a prot warrior but i had a pally tank 4 me and he ws good AOE helps out alot and 4 warriors taunt helps 2...so there both good! lvl 69 prot warrior Bloodyorc check me out on the armory not bad at my lvl in gear :)
