This is one of few remaining weapons this slow. With the high Stamina and Resilience it would be a good starter weapon for PVPing, although axes and swords are arguably the more popular choices for Warriors.

Actually, this weapon is pretty good for a feral druid tank. It's true that defense provides more in terms of overall damage mitigation than resilience, but it is difficult to obtain enough defense to become "uncrittable" against high level mobs. 40 resilience provides the same crit negation as 60 defense. Thus, this item is a good weapon to hold onto until you are uncrittable by other means (I believe this requires about 475 defense as of Patch 2.0.10).

On the other hand, you lose some threat by not equipping a weapon with high attack power.

For a couple reasons, I have to disagree with you on this.

Yes, I'm fully aware that tanking weapons in this game are generally specced toward warriors because they have defense, hit rating, and are usually axes and swords. For druids, since you are often stuck with two handers for tanking, would probably want to roll more toward the Exalted rep with Cenarion Circle and grab that mace.

Why? Well, the main reason is that warriors (and paladins, shamans, let's not forget) get our biggest hits off extremely slow weapons. Something with stats like this, in my opinion, belong in the hands of a class whose damage is moreso determined by speed and not solely on stats.

Yes, druids can use it. But with 418 top end damage, I would hate to see this go to one.

My warrior got this today, as I was the only one that could use it. Resilience means it's primarily a PvP weapon for me, I'll be sticking to my Crow Wing Reaper for PvE and soloing.

As for the druid/warrior tank thing; I think this would be a great Druid tanking weapon. Yes there are better to be had, but as I see it, warrior tanks live on + Defence and Bear tanks on + Resilience. There are fewer opportunities for druids to up their Defence than there are for them to up their Resilience, whereas for warriors its relatively easy to build up 500 Defence (uncrittable at 490 I believe) if you know where to look (there are some lovely quest rewards out there, never mind instance drops).

Defence is about EVASION - avoiding being hit at all. Resilience is about MITIGATION - limiting the damage you will take. That's why Bear tanks have ungodly armour compared to warriors; they lack a warrior's Defence to evade blows, so rely on high armour and Resilience to mitigate the damage that they *will* take.

It always makes me smile when Bear tanks boast about their armour rating compared to mine. They're missing the point - my Defence means I'm going to be hit a whole lot less than them. And when I ask them what their Defence is, they tend to shut up ^^

So, bear tanks, if you see this drop and have nothing better, need on it. The stats are fantastic and the Resilience is your bread and butter.

Little story about this weapon. i was in Stormwind on my feral druid and was clearly bored out of my wits and was inspecting every level 70 there. I came across a moonkin druid in moon form. I inspectd him and was shocked to see all feral gear with strenght and agility on it and this mace in his hands. I asked him what for? He smiled and said im a meele moonkin. he clams hes goten off 1k white crits with this. I couldnt beleive this. About two days later i was running shatterd halls and this dropped. no one needed so we just rolled for it not having a enchanter. i won. i rember the meele moonkin druid after getting this and couldnt resist going to stormwind and spending 50g to respec (i respec alot ya.) moonkin. I went out side Stormwind and with all my feral gear with mostly strength and agility and wacked a few level 5. i was hitting for 1k + white crits on them.
Thought id share just cause its so out of this world to think of a moonkin meeling and actauly doing ok damage.

This item also has a slight glow, which makes the ground near you lighten up and the character's portrait being lightened up too.

As a Warrior I've had this mace for a few weeks but just recently started using it over terrok's quill for PVP. Mace spec works well and those stuns really help against casters. Although its 3 dps less than other equal iLvl 2hders, its speed makes it ideal for mortal strike burst as well as slams.

As of patch 2.1 the mace's handle has been greatly extended, making it look more appropriately like a 2hd weapon. It glows yellow and lights up an aura around the wielder, as well as drops yellow flaks as you walk. Pretty cool.

There isn't a blue weapon better for PVP for warriors IMO. Resilience is critical in PVP for every class and to have 40 on one item is huge. Even the season 2 arena weapons only have around 31 or so. This is practically a must until you get an epic with significantly more DPS.

Great mace for a enhancement specced shaman. At least for starting to PvP at level 70, and maybe in Arena (lower rating matches 1500-1600).

Although people might not want to admit it, this is a great weapon for hunters to have. Hunters are screwed in that if they would like to arena at a high level, they have to buy the x-bow AND a melee weapon (for much points). This is a great weapon to have if you are like me and too cheap to buy a glad 2h.

I've been playing Wow for just about 2 years now and i currently have a 70 hunter along with a warrior. I don't know about you, but when have hunters ever been able to use maces? Or is that just me?

I'm suprised nobody mentioned Retribution paladins in this weapon's thread yet - it's excellent for them! Seal of Command needs a slow weapon to be effective and this is the slowest 2-handed blue weapon of this level range. The only thing lacking on this weapon in crit rating, but 40 res and 50 stam are extremely good for any starter weapon for a pvper, and that defintely includes a Retribution paladin!

I'm a bit late and the thread has kind of drifted from druids but i've decided to comment anyway.

I don't much like this weapon, although the resiliance bonus is quite extreme, in PVE resiliance does become useless once you are allready "uncrittable" (as stated previously by Earthhoof) overall ide just like to address Defence for druids, Defense increases your chance to dodge, parry and block druids can neither parry nor block, rendering 2 3rds of the defence skill useless, just thaught ide let you know so we dont go reading Earthhoofs muchly up-rated comment and then maxing out on defense because you found more def gear than resil. (no offense Earthshock I uprated ur comment ^^) that would be the reason (shada) that druids usually have significantly less defense than your warrior, as druids tend to stack HP and armour to protect against things such as crushing blows and to make up for the fact we don't have a natural affinity for resisting magic, instead of resisting more.. we can take more/harder blows. (not meant to sound that dodgy -.-)

dont get me wrong, the str, stam and resil on this weapon is extreme, but there are feral AP weapons that outdo the AP of this weapon (such as Wildcaller https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31009 available at 69 or Greatstaff Of The Leviathan https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=27757 if you dant want to sacrifice as much stam for AP) and theres plenty of resil gear out there (maybe not 40 on one (otherwise reasonable) item though :( ) . But of course, i dont like to go around and tell others how to play the game (I dont really like people like that) im just helping general knowledge and giving suggestions, so of course you all have my permission to go and do anything you please ;P

this is not a pally weapon. being a ret pally myself i passed on this weapon cuz i have the oathkeeper which is better to me. i dunno who this weapon is 4. a war can get cow wing reaper.

Im big into how things look, and if it looks like crap Ill do my best to replace it. I still have my Quell'Serrar just cuz its got such a unique look. But this thing.....Coolest looking Weapon. Period.
What you cant see is the ambient lighting effects that Blizz implemented with it, as well as the particals coming off of it. Great job from an artistic standpoint!

Other than that a plus to this thing is the nice top end. White crits at 1100. Proper mace spec build warriors are gunna hurt you with this bad boy. I only wish it didnt have resilience seeing as how Blizz has yet to "do" anything with it. Tho maybe when it gets un-nerfed it might be worth having.....

It was awsome when this thing dropped mortal strike with this thing=DEADLY! Of course the 50 stamina is also hella awsome and the rellistance or however the hell you spell it is awsome too. WARRIOR WEPON WARRIOR WEPON WARRIOR WEPON!

im not really so sure about which one is better for pvp...this or the crow wing reaper

i geuss i could get both but that would take a while what is your reccomendation? i think the mace spec is pretty good but should i take that over dps?

Loving this mace atm. Getting 1.5-1.7k white crits on rogues and about 1.5k on mail. 1.2-1.3 on plate. 2k on clothies.

Specced Fury/Prot so enrage/deathwish sends this thing over the edge.

the resiliance is just frosting on the cake

WF gets around 1700 crits on NPCs, mace skill isnt high enough to try PvP yet :P

The highest WF crit i got with this is 2.9K dmg .It's realy awesome for burst dmg,although it can be unrelyable sometimes,but if you're lucky enough to get 3 WF crits you can 1-shot most classes and get warriors/pallies to about 15%.The only problem is i need unleashed rage,str totem and the extra AP from trinkets to get such dmg and till i activate it all a well geared warrior can finish me off....

This is not a druid weapon. And to the person above saying the stuff about druids needing resilience in pve is wrong. Half of resilience is wasted once you have 415 defence (specced correctly) and therefore becomes inefficient. Braxxis' Staff of Slumber is a MUCH better tanking weapon and is useable at level 64 (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31186/braxxis-staff-of-slumber). Yeah it's BoE suck it up, only one class needs it, it usually isn't that expensive. Druids have a higher armor count because we cannot parry or block, not because you have more defense than us. Resilience does not reduce damage we take from hits, only from crit hits, and once we have 415 defence we do not get critted anyways.

Druids really should not be rolling on this unless they have utter crap currently equipped but then I doubt you could have made it this far into SH with anything that crappy. This should go to warriors, pallies, or shammies but CAN be used by desperate druids.

Also, quit suggesting crow wing reaper is better. Crow wing reaper is an axe, therefore requires a completly different playstyle, so its not compareable as it would be used in a different situation. firemaul is a PvP 2hander. and its a mace which is best for pvp currently. Crow wing reaper wud be better if ur arms pve (very rare) but its mainly a hunter weapon. trust me, if ur ms warrior, get the firemaul because its easy to get, and dont bother upgrading until u get the merc glad bonegrinder.

one other thing, Mongoose FTL! dont use mongoose, use savagery if ur a pvp warrior, trust me.

18% drop chance and nearly farmed to exalted for this. I thought maybe I could have leveled up my Blacksmithing for Deep Thunder but there is no stopping now.
