what a lot a people forgot to mention was gold is a lot like silver very hard to come by, i found 2 in STV and have found none in desolace like wowhead said.

Each bas metal has a rare spawn to it (or at least most do)

Silver is a rare spawn of Tin
Gold is a rare spawn of Iron
Truesilver is a rare spawn of either mithril or thorium (can't remember which).

This basically means that they are going to be harder to come by than their normal counterparts.

I have the braady games strategy guide (i know im gullible and lame) and it doesnt say where gold is minable other than in thousand needles (however, it says it is extremely rare to find)

So, My question is : What areas can Gold Ore be found in?

Gold is to Iron what Silver is to Tin. It spawns in the same zones iron does, but randomly.

i've found gold veins in badlands and searing gorge ...

First of all I have seen most of these veins in Duskwood. Here is a reliable spawn.

Stalvans House. If you are standing in the door to his house looking outside, it will be at the top of that hill a little to the left of where you are looking.

Other than that I have seen a several in Searing Gorge. Can't comment on the Badlands since I have never gone there much.

I've been farming minerals in Badlands, while marking where specific mineral spawns are on the map. Today I found gold where both iron and mithril should be. Furthermore, i have mined silver tin Badlands, but I have never seen tin there, and at least once, it was exactly where an iron spawn was. Not sure what this means, but maybe somebody could post if they find the same thing.

i found gold ore in the yeti cave at coords 43,30 above southshore in the alteic mountains above southshore

I've seen gold at the Angerfang Camp Mountain area as well, just above the Excavation site.

I found several places in Duskwood where it spawns. It always spawns as gold, but, it takes FOREVER for it to spawn. Two that are in Brightwood took well over an hour to respawn, but it always came back as gold. I also noticed it appears in any other viens place as well, so, you can get it from slow respawns or randomly from other minerals places. And hey, it all depends on the server on how much it goes for, It's going for 5-10 gold each bar on my server =P.

When I grinded for Iron in Alterac every round around the mountains had 1-2 gold veins, so just go there and mine some gold.
it's really much there in comparison with other areas!

I found some in Arathi Highlands...a few in the ogre cave south of refuge point. So far, thats the place i found it the most

i have found one gold vein in durotar ,
at the "gates" to Valley Of Trials (!) , so if u are standing outside the gates the vein should be at the left , on a wall.

i found some in desolace by the kokar village not the mangram or geikes the other north of mangram. it is on a path left of the village

lolmy minin ia full im lvl 68 and gold vein is mostly found in azhera for horde and alliance In the burning Stepps there is alot and sometimes ther is mithril there

I just found 1 in Duskwood, I have been grinding there for about 4-5 hours to get up from 0 mining to 137 and i had a guildie helping me with a quest and we found it, Luckily he was over 155 to mine it for me.

go to western plaquelands i found some gold veins there and teh respawn is very qiuck.you will also find some truesilver and mithril.

Gold Veins can spawn instead of any Iron veins. This is like a rare spawn among the veins. Mithril also has a chance to spawn them, but has more chance to get a Truesilver than a Gold.

this stuff would be so valuable or useful in BC. I remember i used to have stacks that wouldn't sell for say 5G before....

Once you hit some iron veins and get to 155, you can train Smelt Gold and it is orange to 170, yellow to 177. Smelting 30 ores got me to 180 mining, and it is still green.

I Just don't understand why the ore has much higher price then the bar.
Right now on my server the ore 2-3g while the bar just 60s.

the reason ore is higher than bars is because at a vertain point, the ONLY way to skill up mining is to mine and smelt gold.

I have seen a lot more Gold Veins since BC came out. Last night I was making the circuit around the Alterac mountains and I found a total of 5 Gold Veins (two spawned in a row in the exact same place behind one of the synidcate camps north of Strahnbrad) and 4 Silver Veins (got the usual 2-4 ores per vein, no gems from the Gold but one of the Silvers yielded a gem). I even got a Gold Vein in one of the Ogre caves, which I have not encountered before (only mithril and iron previously seen in those caves).

Strange as it may seem, I think a lot of people must be ignoring the Gold Veins for there to be so many available in one evening.

A gold vein can pop up anywhere iron deposits pop up (just like Silver can pop up where Tin is found). So mine the iron consistently and a gold may pop up next time.

Mining Gold requires level 155 skill.
After level 205, nodes become Green and will rarely level you up.
After level 255 skill, nodes become Gray and you will no longer gain skill level.
