This and the above mentioned Drakefist Hammer are going to be even more worth it after patch 2.0.7 as the haste effects get boosted by about +50%. This makes the truncheon possibly one of the best offhands available pre-raiding in TBC. Also I consider the haste effect so powerful for enhancement shaman that it could possibly be even better than any offhand weapon from Karazhan. The haste effect and already fast speed makes it brutal combo with slow, hard hitting main hand when using windfurys, especially when using Bloodlust also. More hits = more windfury = more win, the burst damage can some times be ungodly. Note that at the moment offhand hits CAN and WILL proc main hand windfury hits if you use different rank windfurys in main hand and offhand.

Combat ratings given by Eyonix on 20th of October 2006 says that 15.8 haste rating equals 1% making pre 2.0.7 of this to give 8.35% haste. After 2.0.7 considering the patch note's "increased by about 50%" I would say the rating is now 8 based on the fact that this weapon gives 132 and Drakefist Hammer gives 200 haste rating, making them into nice round numbers (16.5% and 25% more speed).

Always been fan of powerful procs and alternative effects provided by gear opposed to plain higher damage, better stats offhand options.

You are correct, shouldn't do thinking at early morning. That would mean the new haste rating would be ~10.5 and good drop from earlier 15.8, making this weapon maybe not as superb as I first said but still very very good.

With this and Slice and Dice up at the same time, it's a 1.01 speed weapon. Pretty good against Pallies and Shaman, they'll have a hard time healing

According to my calculations, if the mace changes to a 1.33 speed when it procs, it'd reach 0.88 in the hands of a Shaman every time it would proc while Flurry is active.
And if it all stacks, if a Shaman was to burn Bloodlust/Heroism as well, that would get to an insane 0.43 attack speed.

Add Grom'tor's Charge (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31071) in offhand, which would hit 0.459 (0.4586666666667).

I think that'd make any enhancement shaman happy in the pants.

I was under the impression that you cannot go below an actual 1.0 attack speed. I know the character sheet says so, but I heard it doesn't.

I could be wrong on this, but I thought there was a cap on it.

This is still a good off hand, don't see many maces like this one.

I'm dualwielding it atm with Drakefist in MH, and i discovered that when it proc 1st and just after that Drakefist haste will proc, you will get haste buff from witch proced 1st. It doesn't stack or even it's counting the better buff... It's just the 1st.

So... If I were you I would change it (as ench. shammy) to some 81.5 DPS dagger from Kara or if you like arena pvp - the arena axe/mace ;).

1.9 procs per minute after 52 minutes of non-stop fighting the invunerable mobs in blasted lands.

Nice fury warrior offhand... procs often and stacks with abacus of violent odds and most other haste effects.

i used it with slice and dice with the rogue assasination set and my attack speed for both main hand and off hand when both assasination set and the mace itself haste rating procced reached 0.86 .

While Ive seen some good numbers thrown around for stacking haste effects, one has to remember the soft cap that Blizz has on weapon speeds. You cannot drop below a 1.0 weapon speed for any weapon. So your tooltip may say that you are swinging at an 0.8 or 0.7 speed, but the fastest you can go is 1.0. Sucks I know, but Blizz is gay towards rogues like that.

Seems like it should be a nice weapon for us palys as well.
More hits mean more seal and judgement procs, and seal of crusader will drop it's speed to 1.1 or 1.11 (depending on how the game rounds) and probably around .96 with the proc, making this great for a paly who wants to spam judgement of light/wisdom procs and would probably make for a comically fast reckoning (much to other melee's envy) while the haste proc and seal of crusader are up

Not a bad tank weapon either. Throw in a couple of Solid Stars of Elune, toss on 20 Agility and you got a nice/comparable weapon to Gromtor's Charge. This is even better as a human. That extra +5 to weapon skill with maces and swords make a big difference in hitting.

This damn thing is the best item for my lvl 70 pally.considering i have the crystalforged blad..i occassionaly use it and i get proc 0.99 speed to this thing when lightning speed comes up while seal of crusader is up...does pretty decent damage for a mace :D

In my opinion it doesnt seems bad for tanking :) if you place 2
Solid Star of Elune on it you will have one hand mace with 24 stamina that is like 270 life for a protection warrior :)

Note that if a dps needs it better pass , sure there are better tanking one hand weapons but this can be good too.

Tested it out in Steamvaults shortly after getting it on my level 70 Enhancement spec shaman to see the proc rate. Though flurry and my other speed-increasing abilities (Bloodlust/Berserking/Abacus of Violent Odds) may increase the proc rate (not sure whether it is PPM or not), it seems to happen quite often. Tends to proc once or twice every other pull. Saw at least 1 proc, normally 2-3 on each boss fight, which lasted about 90 seconds a piece. The proc seems inconsistent, however. I've had it proc 3 times in all of two seconds a few times. Once or twice I had it proc more conveniently, where it would proc and then proc again about 8 seconds later than proc again about 6 seconds after the second proc, giving a solid 20+ seconds of 132 haste rating. All in all a very solid offhand/tanking weapon. The proc does 12.56% increased attack speed as of the latest patch, which buffed haste rating by 50%, for those too lazy to do the math. The sockets also make up for its statlessness. I got +8 strength (Don Rodrigo's Heart) and +3 strength/+3 critical strike rating (Inscribed Flame Spessarite) in mine. If this falls and you could use an offhand upgrade as a properly specced Warrior/Shaman/maybe even Rogue, I'd most definitely pick this bad boy up.

Amazing for a rogue, enhanc shammy, or fury warr in offhand. I got it with my rogue and it procs a ton. The best part is, it can proc off of shiv, which I've been abusing like a redheaded stepchild. I can't wait to take it into a raid, but just for fun I've had it proc on a mob, hit SnD and Blade Flurry. My attack speed increase is ridiculous and my rogue is moving so fast it looks like his arms are about to fly off. Good times ^_^

I can't wait to get 2 pieces of Assassination and combine this proc, BF, SnD, and the 2 piece set bonus.

Really good offhand, with a really nice speed. Great proc that affects the main hand and 2 sockets to deck out with some more stats.

Dropped last night. With Flurry up as well as this things "Blinding Speed" proc it swings at 1.07

Properly socketed this makes for a mean tank weapon as well. Could be the "New Quel". Hell of a tanking weapon that is easy for anyone to get thier hands on.

I am about to craft https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=54291 on my shaman, a MH mace with a similar proc, and I am looking to pick up the blackout mace to offhand, just in the hopes of occasionally getting a double proc. I know it's thoretically best to get 2 nealry 3.0 speed weps to dw for a shaman, but burning crusade seems to have a depressing lack of such items. Therefore for the time being the black out and the drakefist will do nicely I think, add in bloodlust and the trinket with the haste proc + flurry and I may be putting up some serious white damage.

With this in offhand and with at least two parts of the rogue level 70 dungeon set (Assassination set) you can add 8.5% haste at level 70. Add to that Slice and Dice and you're at 38.5% haste. My little gnome looks like a blender when all 3 haste effects are active :)

This mace is absolutely amazing. When it procs, and I throw on SnD, and blade flurry, my weap speed on the mace goes down to .85, my main hand, which is the demon blood eviserator goes down to about 1.13 (its normally 2.6) If you don't like the proc of this weapon you obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Got this on the first Shadow Lab run (This, the shield, and the Bold Shoulders all in a row O_O)

Very nice mace for any type of situation, whether it be DPS or Tanking. My Fireguard replaced this shortly after as my Main hand weapon but I still use this. The proc works on your overall Haste rating not just this weapon. Any Dual wielder will for 10 sec throw out an obscene number of swings.

Sadly, at this point in the game it gets quickly phased out by other weapon drops and stuff.

lol this mace's Blinding Speed proc + Slice and Dice + Blade Flurry, it swings at .85! I put a flashing living ruby in it for the parry rating, so i can use Riposte .25% more often.

Combat Mace Rogue here...Took a screenshot of my character info window open while SnD, BF, the haste proc from Drakefist Hammer, and the proc from this weapon were all up at the same time.

The 2.7 sec swing of Drakefist Hammer becomes 1.32. The 1.5 sec swing from Blackout Truncheon becomes 0.73. More than 2x swing speed FTW.

I got that mace + Drakefist hammer + Flurry and, And my trinket that also increases by 200, That meens, 160 from the mace, 200 from the hammer, 30% from Flurry and 200 more from the trinket, See thats quite fast

Wow.....I dont even know what to say..Get another wep with some odd haste proc on it like that. add a +10 haste on gloves my troll berserking slice and dice and these weapons are beasts! like someone said above, Get a socket for ^parry and riposte everything you can....wow...Just think of the possibilities...

I hate the proc on this! Lately I've been having tanks ask my rogue to remove it from my OH, since with all my haste, I'm keeping mobs perma-stunned, and they can't generate any rage bec the mob isn't hitting them! :)
J/K on the hating the proc tho, I totally looove it. I really have had them ask me to take off the mace, so I put on the feltooth eviscerator (epic dagger from H Shattered Halls) instead, but I'm convinced my dps is higher with the blackout truncheon.

I just got this tonite (one run - thank the stars) and I don't think I am gonna buy the s2 OH mace.

This proc+SS+Berzerking+Mongoose+BF turns my 2.6 MH into a .76 sec/swing

Would've crafted the Drakefist - but I don't run heroics enough have access to Primal Nethers (12) let alone the Primal Vortex (2) that it would take to equal the S2 arena Mace

Dropped yesterday evening in SL, together with my new Platinum Shield of the Valorous.

I think will be a good tanking wep for now, haste is good for tanking, 1.5 speed is so good for tanking, and dps is not bad.

I'm gonna put the two gems, and also skill up a bit mace... lol :-)

BTW Shadow lab is really easy, if u have a good tank, a good healer and a Mage for CC.
The only problem is the second boss that is really caotic due to the mind control.

I personally use the dragonmaw mace with this in the offhand. I have a 15 agil on the truncheon and mongoose on the dragonmaw. I use abacus of violent odds and dragonspine trophy as my trinkets. Its crazy to have duel proc =/bf/snd/abacus to go off. Attack speed drops to about .51 on the truncheon. And if dragonspine goes off its like like .41 o .31 with the +270 bonus haste rating. I am like a blender in arenas, the stuns go off so often, i can stunlock with no spells. Its insane. If ur questioning this mace, then dont, it procs quite a bit, and u can customize it with your gems, its awesome, its worth the slab runs 4 it.

I can't deny that this is probably one of the best offhands I've had(mace rogue), I also have the Fool's Bane in my Main hand so these two are outstanding for pvp. Although I have a 2 vs 2 started up I'm not sure if I can let this go, even for the Merciless Gladiator's Bonecracker

AND IT IS AMAZING! I didnt like the gem's so i socketed it with 2 +12 stamina's since +6 ap isnt anything big....

The proc rate is pretty good.

im just hit 70 on my rogue and have been wondering would they be good to duel wiedl. if not whats a good mainhand to get thats eay to get for a fresh 70.

I'd be interested to see what your attack speed would be if you proc'ed Mongoose on this, as a Paladin with the Seal of the Crusader up, and the weapon's natural haste rating proc went off.

Those would stack, right?

I still use it for Tanking. Until you get to the Sun Eater, Kings Defender, Honor's Call (which is obviously the lesser of the three), you can slap whatever gems suit your need and do very well.

I've tanked Kara and most heroics with this. The speed keeps you in the action and ensures you will get another hit in fast when you miss.

Slapping demonslayer on it is very handy when trouncing around the Outlands. A cheap enchant that will serve you well until you get your closer-to-endgame weapon.
