This trinket will last you until 70 and for a while after.

You'll never know how much it adds up over time, but a little trickle of mana here and there can never hurt.

Keep this on at all time for the mana proc and the damage. Keep your 2 minute +spell damage trinket in the other slot.

The proc on this item is 15%. It truly shines for direct damage casters (i.e. everything but shadowpriests or affliction locks) because it only procs off direct damage spells. However the +32 damage might make it worth the effort for those specs/classes as well.

A 15% proc on a trinket that restores an average of 150 mana returns approximately 150 * 0.15 = 22.5 mana per cast. The nature of this proc causes it to be more effective on low mana low cast-time spells like Scorch (mages), Improved Smite and Mindblast (Priests) and Immolate/Incinerate/Conflagarate (Warlocks).

If you have this item, use it in conjunction with short cast-time spells in long boss fights to get the most out of it. e.g. for a mage spamming scorch in a 3 minute fight, this would be the equivalent of 2700 mana, but if you spam improved fireball, it would only be the equivalent of 1350 mana.

As a destruction lock this is by far one of the best trinkets for fights where aggro isn't an issue (such as Shade of Aran). Just spam searing pain and you'll never run out of mana.

Following the buff/fix in patch 2.2, this is an awesome Shadow Priest trinket. I frequently use it in place of my Darkmoon Card: Crusade, particularly in high-mobility or long, mana intensive fights.

Some hard numbers taken from my guild WWS of Gruul last night:

High King Maulgar - 14 procs for 2189 mana returned over 358 seconds = 30.57 mp/5 (2.35 ppm)

Gruul the Dragonkiller - 12 procs for 1821 mana returned over 398 seconds = 22.88 mp/5 (1.81 ppm)

The variation is likely due to a combination of the small sample sizes, and the amount of movement and number of DPS breaks required in the Gruul fight to avoid Ground Slam/Shatter.

Overall you should expect to see around 2ppm and 25+ mp/5 from this trinket. Even if you have a pair of epix, this trinket should have a place in your gear bag.

I'm a mage spamming frostbolts and I found the proc rate to be pretty good, it doesn't proc loads but certainly a noticeable amount. Enough to warrant wearing it.

Since I made my earlier post I went and got this on my mage. On my mage, it procs alot, much much much more than on my priest.

This leads me to conclude that it only procs off nukes, and doesn't proc off casting dots (which I'd still think were spell hit when applied).

Thats why I thought it was such a low proc rate.

I've had it for a while, it's really easy to get, just requires 30 marks of thrallmar.

I've never seen it proc off a heal, seeing as it says on spell hit I rather doubt it does unfortunately, but if I ever catch it proccing off a heal I'll let you know.

The proc rate is abysmally low, it honestly won't make any difference to your shadow priest mana wise, as I am one. Maximum proc rate for this must be 1%, it procs way fewer times than my darkmoon card blue dragon did.

However, the +damage is amazing in its own right =) And yes, it's laughably easy to get, way easier than the reed.

I'm actually going back to farming marks for this trinket. It is really nice even for a 70, and being an affliction lock it might not proc much, but anything that save a GCD for mana is a huge DPS lift over its lifetime. This and trinket from Quaggy is my trinket goal ATM, or to get the BWL trinket :/

not great for mages; locks and shadow priests get a lot of use due to the fact that it procs of DoT TICKS, and not when the DoT itself is cast.

Don't know if it is true or not, but if you follow the link, it says 15% proc. Which makes it the equivilent of a 22 mana savings on each spell cast. Not shabby

I'm a shadowpriest and the 32+ spell dmg ALONE is imbalanced so I've been using this for the last 4 levels. I'm 67 currently and I won't replace this anytime soon. Get this baby, people! It took me a few hours

The 32 +dmg alone makes it very nice. I would agree with the ~15% procrate as it seems to go off pretty often.

Also, if you're having trouble "seeing when it procs", just go to interface options, advanced, and enable all of the floating combat text options. Now you'll see "+150 mana" (or however much it restores) in blue every time it goes off.

My mage is only 65, so I'm not sure how much better trinkets are at 70, but this one has been VERY nice from 62-65.

Of course you can't get 2, that's why it says "unique" on the item description. Almost all rings and trinkets will say that so you can never double up on them and equip 2 of them.

ALL offensive spells have a chance to miss, including DoTs and channeled. Theres no reason that this shouldn't proc just as often for shadowpriest or affliction lock. If it ISN'T working on those types of spells, then the item is broken or the tool tip needs to be changed.

In reference to this not proccing on DoT's, caster procs such as mana back and +spell damage proc only on the initial cast, never off the proceeding damage. Meaning if you SW:Pain the initial cast has a chance to give the mana, not the proceeding DoT's though.

Demo warlock and I farmed the tokens for this at 70 just to get a truly pwnage trinket. Proc-rate using shadow bolt spam seems to be fairly high. It's just anoter one of those every little bit counts trinkets, this is just a larger than normal 'little bit' ^^ and well worth the effort to get.

This thing is a must for mages from 62-70. Great piece for very, very little work. Procs all the time, 15% has to be low end and the +damage is nice and high. I wouldn't replace this until you get the Icon of the Silver Cresent or Quagmirran's Eye.

Picked this up yesterday. I watched it proc about 5 or 6 times off of Arcane Missles waves. So yes, this will proc off of channeled spells. Arcane Missles at least.

I'm an undead priest, and I've had the opportunity to test this trinket out for about 2 levels. Here are the results:

I've seen it proc on the following casts:
Smite
Holy Fire
SW:Death
Mind Blast
Holy Nova
Touch of Weakness

I have never seen it proc off of the following spells:
SW:Pain (neither on cast nor ticks)
Mind Flay (neither on cast nor ticks)
Any buffs (Fort, Shadow Protection, Shield, etc.)
Any heals
Plague (neither on cast nor ticks)

When I first got the trinket I was shadow. It didn't really help all that much because MB and death are the only spells that can proc it. I can't recommend it if you want to stay shadow.

About 2 days after I got it, I respecd to a combo holy damage/healing build and this trinket absolutely rocks when soloing! There are times when it procs for every spellcast in a fight. I haven't noticed if holy nova causes it to proc more than once, but it can proc from the Surge of Light talent. It is a fantastic way to increase your efficiency while soloing as a holy damage priest without resorting to your wand all the time.

This trinket is a great reason to respec to holy/disc and do great healing while giving you some degree of soloing capacity and not having to drink all the time. Just remember that it won't proc off of a heal!

I love this trinket and I know the proc rate is 15%, but I've been really unlucky with it and barely saw it proc. OH well, it's still the best trinket for long fights for me (Before T5 raids at least)

I'm a aff/demo lock... and this seems to proc very often.

I was kinda afraid of getting this... but now I'm relieved it really works.

For those who say this don't proc on DoTs (only on spell HIT i say)... watch your screens for that blue +mana... =p

This trinket gets better and better every day I use it, especially in PVP. It procs off of everything that does damage now -- the only way it can't be overpowered for priests is if it has some hidden cooldown.

It'll even proc off of REFLECTIVE SHIELD! I kid you not! If you have the trinket and a priest has reflective shield, it counts as your own.

As an experiment, I tried spamming rank 1 Smites (80mana) on a mob to see if I could abuse the trinket and fill my mana. No procs, even after dozens of smites. I started increasing ranks... only started to see procs at rank 7 (230mana) and up (i tried at least a dozen time with each rank).

Well, it was worth a try, wasn't it? :)

A word of warning with this trinket when casting a spell very early in a pull.

Consider the situation, tank pulls, mage sheeps, mobs run over and gib mage, tank laughs, mage wonders what happened, checks combat log, sees

"you sheep sharpshooter"
"you gain 160 mana from mark of defiance"

So, it can end up giving you a little agro on everything without being obvious to either you or the tank - so I'd advise you stear clear of this trinket in any 5-man with multi mob tanking.

Edit: found out you can't see it at all unless you're one of the listed classes. I feel left out by not being able to have this on my boomkin.

Is there any other trinket out there that is an upgrade for this that has the same random mana regen because i have a 70 mage that i use this for i am fully epiced besides this. Also it is handy for soloing because it prot on molten armor. If you are under level 70 and you can get this trinket it is advised because this trinket is very op for its level.

In my experience this trinket is horrible. I use it for soloing on my disc priest, and for me it procs literally once every 20 minutes or so when I do my dailies or grind for motes (although I prefer to do this last on my mage). And I'm not one of those patient priests that casts a mob down to 50% and wands the rest. I burn it till it's dead and drink a lot, so I'm casting quite a few spells, mostly smite.

I'm not sure if it's been changed as of a more recent patch (it would have been 2.2 or 2.3 when I first got it), if it has a diminished effect on higher-level players (although from the Gruul's comment above I doubt it), or if mine is somehow bugged (incredibly unlikely). The reason I picked it up was because of my success with its melee counterpart, the Mark of Conquest, which I use on my rogue. The health regen with that trinket is incredible. Unfortunately, I have not seen the same sorts of gains with the caster version.

Has anyone else had issues with this item? All I've seen above is nothing but unbridled praise.
