I'm a level 70 warrior and I used this until I made a Lunar Crescent. This polearm worked well enough for me, was getting MS crits in the ballpark of 2400, with decent blue quality gear. My friend, also a 70 warrior, used the CWA and said he was critting for around 2200-2300, so not a huge power reduction, but noticeable enough

Over CWA, You lose 5 stam for a decent amount of DPS.
And since Axe and Polearms share the same mastery now, there's no worry about having to change your talents.

Picked this up today as a prot warrior its overall a pretty nice PVP and PVE item

Pretty much the best blue weapon for Retribution paladins and Mortal Strike warriors, and drops in Mechanar, which is really short and you can do many runs quickly.

I upgraded from Crystalforged War Axe to this on my Retribution paladin, and I am liking it a lot. The much higher stamina, strength, and having a lot of crit make it a much better choice than an Oathkeeper. The only downside is the Intellect loss, which doens't matter much for ret paladins, and a lower top end, but it also has a higher low end damage to make up for it.

I'm debating whether to go for this, or to go for the GM Warblade, or even the Firemaul of destruction for PvP(all of which are different specs, meaning I'm torn between which spec to go), lets take a look at this weapon compared to the other two though.

This VS. the GM warblade

this has 5 less low end and 11 less high end damage
this is .1 second faster
this has 18 less hit
2 less crit (whoop-di-doo)
and 19 less resilience
BUT this has 14 more str (28 more AP in general)
3 more sta
and could be faster/easier to get
but this doesn't look as cool IMO

I just don't know if the 28 AP is worth the hits everywhere else

now this VS the Firemaul

this has 11 more low end damage but 26 less high end
this is faster by .2 seconds
this has 5 less sta
and 40 less resilience
but it makes up for it with 11 more str (22AP in general)
26 crit chance (something the firemaul lacks)
and, again, is easier to get

I just don't know if the crit chance and AP alone is worth the high drop in top end damage and the amazing lack of resilience, plus I've heard mace spec is much better in PvP in general (and I think the question on sword spec. VS pole-axe spec is still being decided in general, I tend toward sword myself because I like randomness)

So, which is the better PvP weapon? Each weapon is stronger then this in some things, but weaker then it in others (though, I'm thinking, in general, the PvP sword is the better choice of the three, with the happy mix of everything needed in PvP, especially that to hit chance stuff)

The warmaul of infused light is probably better for ret paladins. It has the same DPS but has some int and gem slots if you wanna add +spell damage or whatever.

I would just like to point out that this rather frequent drop has one other redeeming quality..... if you can't use polearms, or no one wants it... it sells for over 11G! Not too shabby at all!

Pretty awesome stats on it, nice top end too. A good weapon to use before getting your hands on a craftable 2h, I think.

Just got this from the boss in mech. Im a happy arms warrior, the hunter was pretty pissed so i directed him to terrok's quill ^^

any hunter with this should be skewered by a rusty harpoon, i myself laugh at them and say what a waste that coulda been two shard.

HUnters have no buisness with it theres much better the str goes to waste

Omg im gonna go crazy i ran this instance 52 times now for the polearm im not joking at tall. And it wont drop...plz someone tell me their having the same problem! i cant stand doing another mech run!

Yea, I have run mech about 10 times and no drops yet. Its a very nice 2h for an arms warrior with poleaxe spec. good luck to everyone on drop rate.

Got mine on 6th run.

Best Arms warrior toy till you get your hand on a Craftable/Heroic-Raid/PvP weapon.

Even better then a Crow wing reaper with soket imo, since this one is Slower.It drop also from first boss of Mechanar, making it easy to farm since he is cake =)
While the Crow wing reaper drop off last boss in sethek hall, it could be a pain to make it drop.

Get your hands on this one, and you are ready to try something bigger. GL =)

It realy makes me laugh. A @#$%^&* that roll for this one must be so utterly clueless.

Terokk's Quill pwns this one and its so easy to get. Even easier to get is Blackened Spear Why would you as a hunter even consider rolling on an item like Hyper-Scythe other than to be an complete !@#$%^&

It must be for the same reason a Warrior or a rogue would want a pulling weapon with RAP on it.
meaning they really have no clue about their class.

I myself have a Warrior, Druid and a hunter and tbh I wouldnt take this even if everyone else didn't want it on my hunter just because there are sooo many other much much better options easily obtained out there.
Really makes you wanna go /sigh -_-

lol. On behalf of all hunters, I apologize for any noob hunter that rolls on this if there's a pally or warrior in the party unless said plate-wearer already has the thing...and even then, it's pretty useless. I'd shard the thing instead.

Yeesh. Fellow hunters, for crying out loud, run Shadow Labs for the Sonic Spear or get revered with HH/Thrallmar for your Hellforged Halberd/Blackened Spear.

/sigh hmmmm no matter what weapon im looking at theres also some negative comment about a hunter. I saw this item drop but decided wtf its useless I rly dont give a &*!@ about stam ive traded my health for and extra 70 or so dps so im cool and str sucks. just get sonic spear. And there is no drop rate problem its about 12% and it dropped on first run for me.

you've got to be the biggest $%^&*! to think plasma rat's is good for any hunter spec. just go for sonic spear or some dual wield &*!@. by the by, i am a 70 arms warrior and i beg to differ that hunters pwn warriors. I came across a completely decked out BM hunter with full gladiator and pwned him. all you need is your Death Wish and Grunt/Corporal trinket.

Crow Wing Reaper or this? Crow wing reaper has 3 red sockets, which could be filled with very nice gems to make it better then this, no? Such as the +20 attack power gem. Comparison?

This crap drops soooooooo often its drop rate must be around 80% and iv done alot of mech as am allmost exalted now and still got no cape :/

It dropped on my 1st run, which was today, but I died fromt the bombs right after the boss died, and somebody looted while I was dead. AHHHH! I'm not expecting it to drop ever again.

OK apparently I can't get this because for the past 3-4 days nobody makes groups for Normal Mech. OH THE ANGUISH!

EDIT: Finally got it on my 9th run. This is suppose to be the first bosses highest drop rate my arse.

so i have crow wing reaper which drops from talon king ikiss (last boss off sethekk halls.)before this all started, and ran with this with my guild, eh they didn't need anything from there anways, so we only went to capitus. (Non heroic for 7 times, rest heroic.)and NEVER DROPPED. ret pally btw. Pugged it when guildies had to go, and a damn hunter rolls need on it.put 20 agi on it, now looks awesome i guess..but i won it so then put 20 str on it also (Enchant Weapon: Potency)
so we both got it...i also learned something from this.

always Compromise before taking this polearm.
