I spent 4 hours farming this and I got it after around ~150 kills, flying mount really help to dodge the NPCs and beasts patroling in the area.

I farmed a total of 131 level 68 and 147 level 69 archmages over 2 days (maybe 6 hours or so total). Looks like some people are just born lucky. Me? I earn my crust.

Expect to be here a while. I got lucky and got mine relatively fast. However the drop rate on the scryer faction stuff makes a long camp still be profitable. You may also consider bringing an alchemy friend with you since the mobs also drop the rare Fel Mana Potion recipie.

Prepared to farm for an hour or so for the pattern - got it after 6 kills. Also got an Arcane Tome... Had my good luck charm with me :)

91 kills till this dropped. I think it took me about an hour and a half to kill that many. I'm a healing priest so this was just as annoying as farming.. well just about anything else. WTB shadow spec

Avoid the centurions, they are a pain in the bum. At around 10-12%, if you don't kill them fast enough, they will heal themselves to full health.

However I managed to get 50 sunfury signets and 2 arcane tomes, which I guess sort of made up for it. So this works really well if you need scryers rep, two birds with one stone.

Easy to get, you just have to be patient. I downed 121 Archmages, but if you get the area for yourself (as I did) respawns are fast.

Archmages are easy, centurions too....those riders are annoying...as a combat rogue, I found this one fairly easy.

Got 76 Sunfury Signets and 4 arcance tomes during the farming.

I usually have to grind for a while to get something to drop but this one I got from my 20th kill...also from an even numbered mob...It goes w/ my theory of even numbered adds.

Dropped on my 3rd kill, lol. All in all not too bad of a farm ... just be careful where you fight since mobs are generally pretty close together.

Don't be discouraged by the blue-quality label on the enchant: judging by anecdotal evidence it's not any lower droprate than the other various BoP enchant patterns out in the world. The resulting enchant, however, is worthy of blue-quality (though there really isn't any such thing with enchants).

The archmages are static and don't share spawnpoints with the nearby Centurions, so feel free to pick them off without worrying about trash saturation (a la Bloodmaul Geomancers).

I've killed probably 300 of these so far, no enchant.

When I was after fel mana recipe, it took me 10 kills.

Took exactly 35 Eclipsion Archmage kills and 40 min. My strat was to just pick out the mages, kite them to where you wont aggro more, then destroy them :P.

Also killed everything else that got in my way, and made off with ten greens and a blue, about 50 Sunfury Signets, three Arcane Tomes, and more shadoweave cloth than I could carry. Definitely worth the grind.

Hello this scroll i start think do not exist more then 450 kills of those mages and not yet dropped .

This finally dropped for me after god-knows-how-many kills, not long after the spellsurge on melee weapon formula dropped, and right before a massive lag spike that killed me and caused a server shutdown minutes later.

Still I got a load of cash, a ton of cloth, a bunch of sunfury rings, a few arcane tomes (all of which I needed to farm anyway), plenty of greens and a blue staff that sold for 130g. So not bad really.

Wow. So I got this due to dumb luck. I was doing the Cipher of Damnation series and had my blood elf disguise, when I decided to mount up and fly off. Well, apparently the disguise wears off if you try and mount, so I was immediately attacked by a nearby Archmage. I easily beat him down and this dropped.

Point of the story is:
If you need this enchant; Sharla, Alliance side, on Whisperwind can do it.

Droped during questing in the area... 5th, maybe 10th kill and I got it. I didn't even knew that it can drop there (lol).
Unfortunately I didn't have so much luck with +30int or +40sdmg enchants :(

I spent a while farming this and it finally dropped off the Eclipsion Archmage after about 6 dozen kills, definatly easier than some other patterns. So i'm doing this enchant on Malfurion (Horde) just pst Duumma

I'm posting this in the hopes that complaining will make my luck turn around. It always seems to work that way.

Been at it 8 hours. About 500 kills ... 9 arcane tomes, 127 sunfury signets, a handful of greens, a blue, a ton of grays, ... but no enchant.

Update: Got it! Finally! About 10-11 hours. Final count 16 arcane tomes, 194 sunfury signets, about 15 greens, 2 blues, and lots of grays.

I found a really great place to farm them is up top by the three demons. There's at least six archmages on the plateu, and you can run down the stairs and find another six. By the time you've killed all twelve and a few guys around them, they will start respawning.

Found this while farming Sunfury Signets for Rep.

From what I understand certain formulas like this *ONLY* drop if you do that profession.

(Please correct me if I am wrong about that).

If this is the case though, I welcome it. It makes it feel like an accomplishment earning something that you can do solo, without having to outroll your raid for, and to not just be the one who buys gold and has every BoE in the game.

If you are on Llane Alliance, look up Josileen for the chant (and many others).

Avg. number to kill for the Enchant is 362.3
Nobody should care that you got it after two or that you've been farming it for weeks with no drop.
People who report aren't the average people.. get it from 200-500 kills.
Kill 200.. chance to drop ~ 50% chance .. no drop.... the next two hundred you kill ~ 50% drop chance..not 100%

Do you have to have the enchanting level to use this in order for it to drop? That is to say, if the recepie requires 350 enchant to use, then you will not be able to get it if you are bellow that? just wondering .

Just having the enchant skill is enough at this point. It was not so in previous patches. You can now pick them up as long as you have the prof, and bank it until you can learn it.

I've farmed nearly all the soloable BOE enchanting drops (with Logros). My best advice - don't do this until you're done with the solo quests in the Outlands. At that point, you'll really be looking for something to do, and this is a great way to pass the time.

And by /that/ point, your gear should be halfway decent, and grinding goes much, much faster. As a well-geared enhance shaman, I can kill very, very quickly with little downtime, so grinding isn't nearly the chore for me as it would have been when I was barely 70.

I'd recommend esp pulling out the flying mount on this one, you can figure the best places to land to pick the archmages off so you don't have to bother with getting mobbed and/or killed by the other stuff

141 Archmage kills for me

I did it double boxing a shadow priest and holy paladin. Group loot worked out ok. The corpse went to the priest but the paladin was the enchanter and it showed for him and didnt for the priest. I was a little concerned when going into the grind but it worked out ok.

Great drops, turned about 400g from the grind in about 4-5 hours.

Dropped for me after about 150 kills. Didn't take too long as I was the only person there. It is not bad gold and rep (for Scryers at least) and I would definitely recommend taking a friend or two along since adds can pile up quickly if you aren't careful.

If you're a caster (which I think the majority of enchanters are), it may seem like a natural course of action to try and pick out the archmages and avoid the centurions cause of their spellbreak.

In the end though, it's easiest and probably most efficient to just clear everything as you see it. You're going to get obnoxious adds no matter what, and it's a lot easier to deal with centurions when they start at ~30 yards than it is when they run right up to you while you're fighting something else. Nothing except the elites orcs and the infrequent patrolling bloodwarders are more than trifling to kill if you don't get swarmed, so just mow them all down.

Some people will be really lucky and get this on their second kill. But for most, we're going to be here for a few hours. And it's a lot easier to just kill everything indiscriminately than it is to try and surgically pick at the archmages.

started farming it last nite to add to my collection of enchants. i ran the circle at EP and theres give or take 10 archmages around that circle. i farmed for about an hour or so and went to bed didnt expect to get it. then this morning decided it was time to try again, ran the circle once and there was a troll shammy (get this he actualy was helping!) but he was also killing the mages so i said id run one more time and be done with it. i killed a mage, and before i could loot i got attacked by a birdrider, and a dragonhawk. needless to say i died. i ran back to my corpse and looted the mage body and boom, there it was. anyone farming for thsi, got to the ruins at EP (west of wildhammer..i think?) and jsut run the circle and kill everything u see, u get a ton of netherweave, signets, and arcane tombs, how ever i only got 1 green and a lockbox in the 2 days i farmed. but youll get it at soem point. hope this helps

4hrs and 403 kills and still going. This drop rate is just bad. Did get a consolation prize thought. On 194 kill I got this. Beggers can't be chooser's but it still isn't what i was trying to get from the work.

Dropped in less than two hours of farming Eclipsion Archmages, don't have the kill count but I believe it's in the range of ~100. Also got loads of Sunfury Signets, multiple stacks of Netherweave Cloth, some Arcane Tomes, so the grind is not too bad.
