What about Mark of the Ravenguard? It might sound kinda too much skeptical, but the Mark has 1 more sta and 1 more def. But I believe the dodge is enough to put the Barbed Choker in the lead.

Still using the Saberclaw Talisman to tank (rather than this) as a feral druid. I really, really wish it would drop already. Geesh.

Since we are comparing, don't forget Necklace of the deep: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32508, extremely easy to get and very nice for avoidance, with 2x8 agi it's 37agi, which is ((37*1.03)/14.7) = 2.59% dodge

There's a blue item with 40 stamina and 17 defense rating. But the dodge on this one is nice once your defense is sorted. But overall not a very impressive item seeing as it's an epic from a raid instance.

The Barbed Choker of Discipline will have the following stats come patch:

+39 Stamina
Equip: Increase defense rating by 16
Equip: Increase dodge rating by 21

So, congratulations on those who sharded or passed on the item. It will be a step above the blue quest reward item you get in Blade's Edge Mountains as well as being a step or two above the other blue tanking neck pieces in the game.

Glad I didn't pass on it.

Compared to the Quest reward in Blades Edge Mountain, the gas mask quest line, this item is really not worth it. The gas mask questline can be done solo, though last kill is way more simple in a duo.

For that rather simple quest, simple at 70, you can get a neck with following stats:
Stamina 37
Defense 13
Block 15

- and now this drops at Maiden which imo is a lil more rough to get to than simple questing. Only diff. is block 15 changed with dodge 19 and minus 1 in Stamina. Why would a warrior ever consider this as an option?

Dropped yesterday, both tanks passed as we had the quest neck piece.

Excellent for druids (and priests in pvp) who get more benefit from dodge than from defense.
