Wow, from the icon for this weapon, I would be very interested to see the model. Nice stats too, but don't you think a sniper rifle should include +hit, as it is designed for accuracy?

I have to disagree on that Xbow, its in terms better... but when your a dwarf +5 to guns helps a little bit, that and guns are way cooler usually! accept that Xbow from before expansion.

Actually to tell u guys the truth, the Gladiator's Heavy Crossbow (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28294) is the best for "damage" wise but this gun is the 2nd best gun for damage. The highest damage dealing gun is the Ornate Khorium Rifle (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=23748)

What I think is thats its just too bad that theres no such thing as enchanting ranged weapons then pretty much all of the ranged weapons would be at its greatest but, at least we got scopes.

yeah the ornate rifle might have a slightly higher top end and be slower but overall it's still 6-7 dps lower then the sniper rifle. Put on the +28 crit scope (which is hawt) and this gun is just flat out awesome.

Picked up this gun last night, but until Adamantite Shells become drastically less expensive to make, bows will still win out in the endgame. Nobody wants to spend 4g a stack for 37 DPS bullets when you can buy equivalent arrows for 50s a stack from Cenarion Expedition.

Did get the gun tonight. Its rly great! I Have a lot of higher top end dmg. But as it said above" it sucks that the bullets in the game Blizz have made is so darn expensive=/

In 2.1, not only are there going to be easily attainable 37 dps bullets but this is getting a damage and stat buff. This is already reflected in the item above. The previous stats were:

139-259, 2.7 Speed
73.7 dps
+14 AGI, +30 AP

So the speed is unchanged but the damage is increased 10 on the low, 19 on the high, +1 AGI, +2 AP. This brings it in line with the Gladiator's Heavy Crossbow for DPS. Sunfury got a buff so arguably it becomes the best ranged in the game.

Actually I would say that this could possibly be the better ranged weapon over the x-bow and sunfury...simply because of the ammunition...aside from epic arrows, Adamantite shells are easily crafted and give 43 extra dps compared to the 37 bullet/arrow that are sold from vendors...

All I know is that I won't be replacing this with another ranged weapon any time soon...aside from that the bow you get to fight kael'thas with ^_^...Unless it should break during battle where i would use the veteran musket...once i attain exhalted that is...but i havent had gear break during instances for a long time now...

This gun is a reference to the original fairy tale of the Big Bad Wolf. At the end of the tale, the wolf is killed via BOOM! HEASHOT! by the hunter/ranger.

Gotta love how peaceful and family friendly childrens stories were back when we were less civilized. ;)

Anyone else out there seeing this as a better weapon (dps wise) than Sunfury and Arena X bow? Using the engineering bullets I have clearly superior paper doll dps. I even compared it to Serpentspine and Arcanite Steam pistol. I couldn't find any ranged, untill honored with the Scale of the Sands, that would give me better dps. Fully raid buffed, I am doing around 1200 dps. I dont want to roll on anything from SSC or TK if it doesnt up my dps and because another hunter may be able to get better use of it. Any engineers out there that have any of these weapons? Have you seen an increase or decrease in dps? Oh yeah...BM 41/20/0.

It's extremely dissatisfying that this is the best-looking gun in the history of forever. Once I get this baby, I don't think I'll ever be able to replace it purely because of how awesome it is, even if I do happen to find a better gun. That doesn't exactly put light on me as a great hunter, but damn, this thing is simply amazing in its aesthetics. Makes my hunter truly feel like a god.

I just got this gun sunday, (AWSOME GUN) but i did notice one annoying thing, it doesnt have smoke when you shoot it and the bullet doesnt really look like it comes from the barrel, it looks like your shooting it from your hand(on a closer look). However besides for the lack of smoke when shot, the graphical errors are really unnoticable.

For a BM specced hunter, this gun actually equates to more DPS over Sunfury due to the speed. With 15% quiver and 5/5 serpent's swiftness this ends up being ~1.7 speed which is perfect for a BM hunter just using the auto/steady rotation.

Sunfury on the other hand ends up being ~1.9 speed which is another .2 seconds between your auto and steady, this may not be noticeable, but ends up being quite a large chunk of DPS in the long run. However with a bad latency Sunfury is better.

This rifle is the highest DPS weapon for a BM hunter up until Serpent Spine Longbow off of Vashj.

The "best" weapon is also based on spec. For hunters, while many want the damage range for the high end hits, survival spec'd hunters benefit a good bit more from this faster weapon. The faster speed, while doing less damage per hit, would generate more critical strikes over the duration of most boss fights.

Maintaining the expose weakness buff on the target is a priority for the survival hunter. The more shots put down range in the 7s that the EW is up, the greater the likely hood of critting and keeping the EW active.

How does this gun stack up to the Ancient Amani Bow? I know the Ancient Amani is a very slow bow but you can use a steady/auto/arcane with it and dish some nice dps.

On my first run through kara this gun dropped for us. There was only 2 hunters and the other hunter had an epic gun already so he let me get it. This gun is insane. Hands done the best looking weapon I have seen so far. Also got the saberclaw talisman drop off the shade of aran. Needless to say I was a very happy man that day. :D

As a rogue myself i will tell everyone that the stats are rogue BUT they are hunter as well and this is a hunter weapon not a rogue weapon-it would be rogues next if no hunter in group-other than that this shoudl never be rolled by a rogue if tehre is a hunter in a gruop. this is the best gun atm- only hunters deserve it. As for rogues-go for throwing weapons-hence y you have the skill called "deadly throw" :P nubs-im lvl 67 and ive crit with it having 5 combo points for 1400. try that with this gun even on a lvl 1 clothy-if your a rogue-its not happening. Nubzzzzz

Ok Rogues, for all you who think you deserve this over a hunter, don't come crying on this site or anywhere else when those same hunters you rolled against win the best throwing weapon & dagger in the game over you.

And hunters who think they work melee better than ranged because they crit on a mob 5+ lvl's below them... That happens to ALL of us if we are fighting lower lvl mobs. Please don't use that type of example. Only go by mobs your lvl or higher when it comes to comparing crits and dmg plz.

A hunters main skill is meant to be Ranged, a Rogues is meant to be melee. A rogue is wasted by standing back and using a ranged weapon on a fight unless it is a ranged only fight. Hunters are best utilized when using a ranged, hence the "ranged weapons should go to hunters first" comments.

My perspective; give the rogues their daggers. swords & throwing weapons, let the hunters have their Guns, Bows and Axes, and always make sure that your tanking Warriors are geared and your DPS Warriors have good DPS weapons. By doing this your group/raid will down mobs faster, run thru instances cleanly and give you more chances to get loot for ALL in the end. Let's face it, you can't have a great run without your healers getting gear as well! =)

you didnt mention healers? they dont need good gear? or casters? i have seen hunters with epic staves that i dont know how they got..i am a hunter btw. i dont need melee weapons off melee classes, i need range weapons(gun bow xbow) that are better that mine, this doesnt always mean more dps but higher damage range... rogues should only have thrown weapons due to deadly throw, warriors can have whatever the hunters leave AND HUNTERS DONT F*CKING NEED EPIC AXES/SWORD WITH A CHANCE ON HIT! IT WONT PROC OF RANGE

This dropped last night, fine replacement for valanos. It takes a bit to learn how to kite him around, but once you do it enough i'm sure this would be cake. Other hunter brought his priest instead, boy was he upset hah.

i'm a hunter btw and i'v never had problems with rogues ninja'ing my ranged. Its generally assumed, so no need to flame the one retard.

One of the funniest fights I've been in, there was so much laughing on vent when people started to get turned into little red riding hood and the wolf started chasing them.

Hello all... Got the fantastic Wolfsniper thingy some time ago, but i really think the weapon is bugged, i just wanna have this confirmed / defirmed, if any1 is having the same problem or something.
with aspect of the hawk and Wolfslayer sniper rifle i get a max damage of 703, but the funny thing is with Telescopic sharprifle i get a max damage of 750...

Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle: 139-259 (73,7 dps) speed: 2.70 14 agilily 30 AP

Telescopic sharprifle: 139-259 (66,3 dps) speed: 3.00 13 agility 28 AP

Can any1 see this or am I just a !@#$%^ ? ;P

had a great time with this instance (was the first time our guild encountered it).

we only had 1 hunter and 1 rogue in the group (i was the rogue), and this gun dropped. i totally wanted it, but basically forced the hunter to take it instead. it'll drop again, i'm sure and i'll take it then.

After three weeks in a row of Wizard of Oz, I got goosebumps when we found out it was BBW (that conversation alone was hilarious!).

When we finished giggling and killed the sucker and this gun dropped, I screamed and (pretty much creamed) in RL - and spent two minutes in raid and guild chat rapidly typing MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Yeah, I was excited. After getting the weapon, I made my first Khorium Scope for myself, and whipped up some Adamantite Shells. At that point, I realized that this gun comes with a hefty pricetag. Either a ton of time farming adamantite - or 60g or so a pop to fill my ammo pouch with Adamantite Shells. The Cenarion Expedition arrows are also 37 DPS, but only cost 40s or so a stack, so in terms of price per shot -be prepared to spend some cash if taking this bad boy out on a raid to max out your DPS.

As a dwarf hunter, this gun absolutely rox.

I feel sorry for the squirrel that was my first kill - my first aimed shot crit with nothing but self buffs and hunters mark blasted him for 5140 damage! The guild was lol-ing and saying we are having BBQ squirrel - all that time and effort to get the gun and I go around killing level 1 critters - lol.

I think I am actually going to spend the money on an elixir, and start blasting away in PVP for awhile.

I believe the sight of my stumpy hairy ass on top of a hill looking down the barrel of this gun will have a clothie thinking in the back of their mind "uh-oh, I think he has +5 skill with that cannon"......you know, that perfect moment of clarity before their digital heads get splatterd to the graveyard.

Although i agree that a rogue could potentially want this, if one were to get it and not the hunters in karazan, i would kick him from our guild. Rogues take alot of stuff from hunters, and the one thing hunters NEEd to get priority over all the rest is whatever gun or bow they desire. Any rgoue who needed this when a hunter was with them I would call a ninja unless the hunter had a better gun. Shammies steal alot of their dps armor, rogues steal alot of their 1h axes/swords ect, dont think that rogues have priority over hunters on dps ranged O-o

just joined a small raiding guild a few days ago. the next day i went kara with them. we pwned attune, moroes and maiden np and we thought we'd give the opera a go.

id watched a video of the bbw event and so i knew it was coming when the anouncer started speaking his $%^&. as a 70 hunter i was praying for this to drop.

it dropped. and i got it, no rolls, master looter dropped it into my inv. can i just say i love my guildies and first time kara ftw.

This has got to be by far the BADEST ASS lookin gun in the game.But Don Santos Famous Hunting Rifle loox so damn cool when it shoots.

I made a lvl 70 with it in Org,go shoot a lvl 8 piggy outside,jus to see it.

what kind o hunters are you hangin out with matey... we pick the big guns, I'll give ye that, but then we can do tricks with a gun rogues can only dream of, and vice versa for melee...

I honestly wouldn't roll on the blue (or preferably epic) blades, axes etc until I'm sure none of the melee lads want em... so I think you're stuck with a batch o bad hunters :P

hunters... stick to ranged pain, and let warriors and rogues have the shiny swords... you will be rewarded with being the only class rollin for the epic cannons :D

Dude this thing actually dropped for me but I was outrolled 43 to 74... I was so depressed. Learned my lesson of running stuff with another hunter hehe :) But really it sucked so bad, I wanted to come to the other hunter's house and murder him, it just topped the cake that he asked me where to train guns afterwords :*(

I love the way this gun looks. It has decent stats, too. As a rogue, I would pass this on to any hunter that uses guns. I got lucky, however, and the two hunters in my run were dedicated to bows and let me have it for the stats. I like the intimidation factor. :)

If this gun had 3 dps and a speed so slow it only fired every 2 days, i would STILL use it (it looks like 2 tank guns with a sword on the bottom :D )

Been waiting for this one forever. Took engineering to make headpiece and khorium destroyer just so I'd be able to get into Kara and hopefully get this and Legacy. After about 3 months running it we get the BBW event and it finally drops. I was saying beforehand that I was hoping for the gun and a rogue said he was rolling if it did. He was really there for Malchazeen but could use my primary weapon as well. I whispered the guild master about if he'd want a rogue rolling a hunter on a ranged upgrade and he said Prince's bow was better (which is true) and let it go if it happened.

So, as fate would have it... Gun drops, we roll, he wins. No one in the raid was paying attention that a rogue rolled until later. Then people got pissed. By that time I was just hoping for the bow.

So we down Prince and no bow, but Malchazeen does drop. So (and my apologies to all other rogues who never screwed a hunter on a ranged upgrade) I rolled and won. I felt like a tool taking it, but people cheered, so I was ok with it. I sometimes run around with it out in Shatt as a warning to bastards everywhere.

The very next week we are back in and BBW again. Gun drops again. I am the only hunter for whom it is an upgrade and our raid leader (a rogue) is one of the ones who cheered me last time, so I get the gun with no rolls. None in 3 months then 2 back to back. Crazy.

Anyways, moral of the story; Don't get too greedy or someone will do the same to you (maybe sooner than you think). And the second moral; Don't ever down Prince at 4am when you are almost unconscious because you might hate-roll on Malchazeen, which I would NEVER have done were I thinking clearly, even if the rogue really deserved it.

Best obtainable weapon for a BM hunter. Barrel-Blade Longrifle is better, but not everyone get's to do Doomwalker. Expect the price of the Longrifle to be high when the loot starts to drop not soulbound in 2.4.

3rd best by the way is Don Santos, so even if Wolfslayer has a low dropchance, it's still the easiest to get for a not so rich BM.

Just to clairify just WHY this gun is tops for BM

two words... SHOT SPEED
which in turn effects another two words... SHOT ROTATION

essientially, 2.7 speed (or 2.6 if you're lucky enough to land the doomwalker drop) is the *perfect* speed for a 1:1 shot rotation (assuming haste proc from IAotH).

Marks / surv shot speed with quiver (no other haste)
2.35

BM shot speed (w/o IAotH proc)
1.95

BM shot speed w/ IAotH proc
~1.7

Now most people with less latency would be able to haste safely down to ~1.6 but i have bad lat, so 1.7 is about as fast as I can safely haste to for a 1:1 shot rotation without clipping autoshots.

As you can see, with the faster shot time, you will have *a lot* less deadtime in your shot rotation (1.5 sec GCD is really what limits us, as Steady shot is hasted to the same % as autoshot, therefore haste will NOT clip autoshots, but haste will clip Steadys due to the GCD). Less deadtime = More DPS, which is what this is really all about right?

Also this gun is a bit quick for a proper 1:1.5 (also known as the 2:3) shot rotation with arcane weaving. It's possible but with bad lat you might want to stick to steelhawk or sunfury bow (or any bow, xbow or gun with 2.8 or greater shot speed).

Incidentally, the agi is pure gravy on this gun as it could have no stats at all and *still* be the top pre-BT ranged weapon for BM

So basically for BM, this gun is tops, and for everyone else with good lat, highly recomended but easily replaced with other bows/guns

Also added note, while Surv hunters would be able to use this gun effectively, the other rifle mentioned above (barrel bladed rifle) is TOO fast for effective 1:1.5 rotation and despite it's excellent agi (tons of agi and 2 red sockets) the drop in dps going to a 1:1 rotation would probably end getting your guildies mad at you (fewer shots going off means less expose weakness)
