Although Bloodfire Greatstaff and The Bringer of Death have more spelldamage, the spell hit and and spirit make this the better dps staff for starting raiding Kara. The spell hit by itself just about compensates for the damage difference (17 spell hit = 2 gem slots = 18 spelldamage), and the extra regen from the spirit shines in long fights.

For PvP you'd probably want to take Bloodfire, for the extra stamina.

Its perfect for balance druid. I personally think that anything fancy, glowing staff doesnt fit them. They arent mages after all :D

What a bore! At least give me a damn glow! I think the best quested staff out there for a mage remains the ring of blood reward in Nagrand.

There are a few 1-handers that I know of that beats this one, badly. Just get a good offhand with the stats you want and you're good to go.

Mana wrath, very good for casters.
Runesong dagger, also very good.
Greatsword of horrid dreams SICK looking, damn good stats and spell dmg-
Continuum blade very good, crapload of spelldmg, loads of stamina/int and spell hit. This require a bit of farming in the caverns of time instances though.

All these are from 5-man instances, and you can easily get other stuff from AH, like The bringer of death and other goodies.

And thinking that this quest requires a 5-man group, just get a group going to shadow lab, shattered halls, mechanar, black morass and so on, there are other juicy drops that are great aswell.

Yeah, there are better items you can get from a 5 man, but the thing is you can pull together 5 folks out in these zones pretty simply, and 5 minutes later have met up, buffed up, beat the boss, grats'd everyone and be on your separate ways. Without having to deal with a party or afks, bad pulls, wipes etc etc. Do the chain, get the group, kill the boss, done.

Items and quests like these are not to replace 5-Man run gear, its just a build up to those peices.

I agree with Wynsdae above,

It's such a hastle going to these places with randoms for whatever reason, usually kids having to go and have there tea or getting their asses kicked by their parents for playing too much WOW i'm not sure but the importance of having good solid friends and guildies at this lvl is paramount. Even if you have 3 friends in a grp it helps immensley

Indeed this is why these quests are great. Usually i'd have a stab at this quest while being in the LFG for slave pens etc... this means whether I get grp or not i'm keeping busy, it's so easy to get bogged down by inexperienced players trying to get you to do all the work while they carry on their Q's then leave when you don't.

As a guild the G Master has decided to have a breeding ground for newbies within our existing guild and when they hit 70 they join our high end raid guild this ensures that all the chat you are subjected to is relevent to dungeons you have some interest in going to. Good idea I thought..especially as we have over 188 guildies :p
