These gloves are one of the best gloves obtainable for semi-hardcore raiders. They're almost as good as T5 gloves https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30217 and I'd take them even if I had the T4-gloves https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=29090 .
They are obtainable even for guilds that can't down bosses in TK/SSC+, even guilds that haven't got down Gruul or Maghteridon since they are trash-mob loot, and can drop from the first mob in TK.
Our first two runs, we had only to learn the mobs and give a few tries on Voidie. We even went on clearing trash after respawns and we couldn't try any boss before raid-time was over just because of the trash-mob loot, and that is insanely good.

Well, even if you are a Tree of Life (spirit based) druid, the maiden gloves (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28521) are still better. You have to realize that your spirit ToL aura applies only for your party and the little difference won't help that much.

Here's a comparsion that I made.

Name: Bark-Gloves of Ancient Wisdom (BGoAW)
Int: 25
Spirit: 33
Stamina: 28
+Healing: 73

Name: Mitts of the Treemender (MotT)
Int: 22
Spirit: 14
Stamina: 25
+Healing: 64
MAJOR PLUS: 2 sockets (blue/yellow) with socket bonus +3 spirit.

Now, let's focus on the difference.

MotT have -3 intellect, -19spirit, -3 stamina and -9 healing compared to BGoAW., but we have two sockets to fix that!

There are basically two options -

1) If you want more +healing then you can socket both sockets with +18 healing (Teardrop living ruby) and gain +27 healing over the BGoAW, but that's the emergency solution, if you lack +healing.

Result: Compared to BGoAW: -3int, -19spi, -3stam and +27healing

2) Socket the yellow slot with Luminous Noble Topaz (+9healing and +4intellect) and the blue slot with Purified Shadow Pearl (+9 healing and +4 spirit). That way you will get the socket bonus and some nice stats.

Result: Compared to BGoAW: +1int, -12spi, -3stam and +9healing. To get all details down, 12 spirit difference on the BGotAW becomes 14 with "Living Spirit" talent, and 14 spirit translates into +3 healing for your party, +1mp5 while casting, and +8mp5 when idle.

It's rather hard to decide, but my opinion is that the maiden gloves are a tiny bit better than the ancient bark ones.

You don't assign enough value to spirit. 14 spirit is not 1 mp5 first off, 5 spirit = 1 mp5 .. so its roughly 3 mp5. Also, If you innervate once every boss fight 5 spirit adds an additional mp5 (I did all the math a long time ago and can't find it.. but trust me, it does =)

But I agree with you on ToL aura, you should never consider it when deciding on spirit vs mp5 or healing. In almost every case in a raid situation you are healing people not in your group.

Judging by their stats and +healing, their obviously better than Teir 4 resto set, so i'd say somewhere along the lines of serpentshrine. If i could guess i'd say they'd be off of the 2nd boss.

I just got them off a trash mobb in Tempest Keep last night right before the 2nd boss
And indeed..these just replaced my T4 gloves...sad but true!

And about the item.
Got em on our first trip in TK as only resto druid. Still wondering if they are that good, sure they have nice stats. But the healing on Maiden's gloves is just imba.

Resto druid...I'm trying to decide if it's even worth replacing my T4 with these. I took them being the only resto druid in the run and sorta going on the assumption TK > Kara (unfortunately I hadn't looked closely at the trash drops prior to the run and had to make a quick decision).

Basically the tradeoff is:
Gain: 6 stam, 9 spirit, +11 heal
Lose: 7mp5

I'm thinking the 2 are pretty even, with a slight edge to T4 if you have set bonuses. Given that...maybe they need to buff these gloves? It seems just silly that a drop halfway through KZ might be picked ahead of a drop in TK.

On a side note, I have pretty good mana regen and so it may be nice to have both options just so I can choose stats vs mp5 depending on the fight.

Not useless at all. With the change to intensity in 2.3 these gloves are great for a spiritbuild.
