If you're not using it on any other item Inscribed Ornate Topaz (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28363) of course is better.

This gem hardly deserves the "epic", take for instance the Delicate Living Ruby (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=24028).
Gives 8 AP, 4.4 crit rating and some dodge aswell.

In case someone's missed it, these gems are no longer unique-equipped.

Good thing I picked up all three that dropped in the last heroic Arcatraz run I was on even though they still was unique-equipped back then thinking it's nice to have a few spares in the bank. =)

protection warrior outrolled me for "dps set". the best rogue/hunter gem and this one outrolled us

What is it with them thinking they get priority over us on dps rolls, it's happened to me 2-3 times in a pug... Thank goodness the guild gets it.

people...there is a simple way to deal with this...assuming you aren't playing alli because we all know that when 12 year old see something nice they want to touch it....

if you come as a DPS warrior then go a head and roll...if you come as a tank then don't...if i was healing on my shammy (and i would have to spec that way), and this dropped...i would say wow...i could use that on my DW gear...but i would not roll on it (unless one one wanted it) because im not DPSing...that would be wrong...would it be ok if i rolled on cloth healing gear...yes

simple...don't act like a child when things drop the you COULD use...if your there dpsing, roll on dps stuff...if you tanking, roll on tanking stuff ect ect...IF no one needs it...then ask to roll

if youre tanking and want to roll on this for your dps set feel free. I'm a hunter and I approve of rolling for alternate specs/grinding. What do you noobs want him to grind in prot gear?

i agree that dps warriors are extremely good dps, i were critical againts them until i played with a few. im a hunter and im usally the best dps in grps and raids, but when i play with dps warrs i have to work hard to outdps them.

Warriors got a great advantage on long fights since they dont use mana, rogues are ok there too but not close to a warrs dmg.

wf tot + epic warr = best dps ingame.

So, whether or not warriors can out-dps hunters and rogues I'm not going to argue. But they have no cc, so that's why they are less useful for groups even if they can do more damage.

I AM a DPS Warrior, and I HAVE Damage Meters. But, wait, there's more. I've also grouped with Rogues in instances while I had it on! OH MY GOODNESS! Lemme check the lists again...

Every group without a full epic rogue I out DPS them?
Hmm? By a wide margin you say? Five or more percent? Why is that, DPS meter? You think it's cause I can get 3k Bloodthirst Crits without trying that hard? Maybe it's from Flurry, which drops my attack speed in both hands to almost one? Or Enrage, making me hit like I'm holding a 2H weapon? Hmm? Two Hundred and Fifty Attack Power from Rampage? Surely, that can't make a difference at all! No, DPS meter, you must be wrong. After all, I don't know my place.

What's that DPS meter?

Oh, you think I do know my place? Think I know it very well? What's that? I have nearly 10k Health, and I'm not even using any epic gems? Hmm? Oh, right, of course... I forgot completely... My +7 Wep Damage enchants on my two weapons are FAR better than Mongoose. Whatever could I have been thinking?

What's that? My Three Epics? My Main hand, Fireguard, Merciless Gladiator's Plate Shoulders, and Black Felsteel Bracers are it? Huh, that doesn't seem like such a big deal, considering I can reliably beat a rogue in DPS... Even if they have two epic weapons, mongoose on at least one weapon, and epic armor.

Oh? DPS Meter, is that you again? What's that? Fury Warriors get +10% Attack Power? What's that? 3% Bonus to crit, too? And, they get 5% from their talents, simply cause Booming Voice blows chunks?

Listen, punk. Never tell me where my place is. I've played every spec of Warrior. All of them. I've been playing SINCE DAY ONE. I've done raids, and I've kicked plenty of ass in them. So, shut up, cause you clearly don't know just how damned good a DPS Warrior can be. So, before you tell me not to show up to an instance, or not to run a raid, maybe you should try playing with a Fury Warrior. You might just, and I know this is a hard concept for you, learn something about another class.

The item rocks, for anyone who is physical DPS. If you're more spells and spell damage, obviously, this isn't your thing. But, any Warrior, Rogue, Hunter, FERAL DRUID (Much love to you guys, especially with Imp LotP), or EVEN AN ENCHANCEMENT SHAMAN, has every right to roll on this gem. +8 AP and +5 Crit Rating is just flat out good. So, grats to the winner. Know that, since you have this? You've just gotten a little bit more than .5 DPS, without even counting crit strike frequency.*

sry to break it to u oh mighty one. but u are dead wrong. as previous stated a good rogue, and by good i mean skilled good, not like 75% of the !@#$%^ed rogue population including the ones in epic gear, will out dps any fury warriors ass, even in those fights where u dont have to worry about threat. I have also been playing since day one, and i have seen it all too and no fury warrior will beat an equally geared rogue who is a good rogue.

as far as the gem goes, who cares what melee class gets it. Its only got 1 more ap and crit than the ones u can buy on the AH, its no big whoop what melee class gets it.

I am a hunter and any physical dps class has the right to roll for this. So whoever said learn your place you should learn where that persons is, which is the same as you.

May I combat that if you are tanking an instance you should not need this gem for you "DPS set" if the other members need it, but if you are the only one who wants it, the tank should be able to need it. However, if there is a fury warrior DPSing, he has as much of a right to roll on this as any Rogue.

I have both a combat rogue, which used to be assassination/subelty. I have a fury warrior that used to be arms. I can tell you one thing, a fury warrior CAN out dps a combat rogue. I'll tell you another thing, a combat rogue CAN out dps a fury warrior. Each fight can go differently according to what is going on. With lots of rage generation and a tank that can keep agro, my dps on my fury warrior has blown away my rogue's by far. But certain fights where I can't get rage to save my ass, my rogue blows by my warrior's easily. It is all fight dependant and situation dependant. Who the hell cares? If Thottbot removed every dumb comment about which class is better on posts about things like gems... there would be about 10 total comments on the whole site. LOL

I know posting more on this page is a bit dumb (and the last post was pretty good) but I would like to highlight the fact that a warrior can roll for loot with +att pwr, +crit, +def rating, +stam, +agility, +strength, +dodge, +hit, +parry and +resilience on the basis that they need all of them for various situations. A druid can roll on absolutely anything (I love druids btw). A hunter or rogue can roll on about half of those things, so do remember that when you roll against a rogue on melee dps stuff you're rolling against everything they need, and next boss you might be rolling again on something the rogue doesn't need, which could lead to 2 drops for warrior and 0 drops for rogue (who has worked just as hard, hopefully). So it seems like it would be fair to give them a chance. I think that as someone said before, if you're dpsing roll on dps gear and if you aren't, don't roll on it. Unless no one wants it or the dps classes don't care. Otherwise, specialised classes like rogues could basically get no loot, ever, cause their tank always rolls against them.

No tank should roll on this. Period. DPS warrior? Sure. I myself am a hunter and have to admit that they could use it just as well as I could. But if you're a tank, you really should not be rolling against a dps class for epic dps gems, even if you could use the extra crit or ap. Go buy some epic gems with similar stats or wait until no one else wants it.

people are clueless these days. Most tanks, the good ones anyway, are respeccing constantly. A prot warrior in you little heroic is most likely PvPing in arms spec, fury in 25 mans and PvE, and tanking your little heroic. Especially *!@#$%^s, if you couldn't feign death in 25 mans you wouldn't match a warriors dps. Keep your gem crying to yourself.

God all the noobs. Here you go then DPS melee class or hunter = Roll on it you deserve it.

Alternate sets of gear(DPS Gear or grinding gear) = second priority so dont need unless the rest of the group say you can.
We all know there are lots of 11 year old kids out there who see something they want and have to have it, and i agree with earlier posts that you can get similar(but only slightly lower) gems on AH or your mates and guild mates. So if you dont get this by meanings of a ninja noob or a low roll then Hey it's not the end of the world just ask a good Jewelcrafter and he should have something very similar.

Once again this is physical dps item(rogue, warrior, hunter, enhance shammy) Happy raiding and arguing about this gem guys(or kids).
