which of these 2 is correct:
1) i socket this in a red slot - it counts as i have socketed a red gem

This baby are realy great for healing paladins as they get back mana from if their healing spell crits

Also good for Circle of Healing Priests, IF they really need to socket a yellow gem. Beats 11healing5int any day of the week and thats as useful as black temple gems get for yellow sockets.

Good example for a use of this gem would be the Tier6 chest.

Anyone know the spell damage amount given by this gem, or if there is any spell damage along with the healing?

An absolute brilliant combination (healing/spell crit) for healadins. Once you start getting into T6 gear you can boost your crit up so high that you pretty much only need to cast varying ranks of HL for both mana efficiency and healing efficiency - previously I was socketing both red and blue gems with the lovely Royal Shadow Amethyst (11 healing/2 mp5), but I have started trying to get one of these to go in the red slot (already have a lovely 5 spell crit/2 mp5 gem from H-SLabs for a blue slot. And come 2.4, ideally, I'd love to have this in any red slot when going for a slot bonus. =)

Truly, for a healadin, healing and spell crit are a match made in heaven for a gem.

How much are +4 Spell Critical Rating @ Spell crit chance?
And how much are 4+ intellect @ spell crit chance..? (80 int was 1 Spell crit?)

If you have access to epic gems, you should avoid running Heroic Ramparts specifically for this gem. Teardrop Crimson Spinels give +22 Healing while Gleaming Lionseyes give +10 Spell Crit. You theoretically give up 1 Spell Crit for every one of these gems used.
