It looks like this stone is only used for Jewelcrafting from the inscription on it, but it seems that it might also act as a Philosopher's stone, judging by the list of objects that this stone is a tool for (alchemy transmutes). Can somebody verify this?

Alchemists make the https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31080 Mercurial Stone (primal earth, life, mana)

Alchemists use it to do transmutes.

Jewelcrafters use it to create things like https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31079 Mercurial Adamantite. If you're a jewelcrafter just ask an alchemist to make you one, or possibly look in the Auction house.

The coords r 22.40 or arround...u climb a hut ..find a bird guy who gives u q .. need to return to him round 40 arrakoa feathers ... then u can use his lab..its a stupid table on the same floor..

ALCHEMISTS TAKE NOTE!

Transmutation Masters won't get a proc if they replace their Philosopher's Stone with a Mercurial Stone.

Not sure if this takes up the requirment of the Philosopher's Stone, however (even if it does), remember that you'll need the Philosopher's Stone to make the Alchemist Stone which at that point wouldn't be hard to make another Philosopher's Stone but why waste the time?

I would like to know if any TRANSMUTE MASTER has ever Proc'ed while using the Merc Stone instead of the Phil Stone???

Over 2 months daily Transmutes and NOT ONE PROC while using the Merc Stone for me. If you have used it for a transmute and proc'ed while using it. Please confirm that it can be used by master Transmuters to Proc.

Alchemists make this item and give it to Jewelcrafters in the same fashion Engineers make Salt Shakers and give them to Leatherworkers.

It is of no use to an alchemist, other then to sell on to jewelcrafters.

Go to Shattrath, ask a guard for the alchemist trainer, go to the trainer and learn to make this. There is an alchemist lab right next to the trainer (round the corner), you can make it there.

In Shattrath ask a guard for the location of the Alchemy Lab. You'll find the recipe in the same general location. You have to go up wooden ramps twice, then down one level. The stone is made at the alchemy lab there and uses 1 primal life, one primal earth and one primal mana. They currently sell in AH for 30+ gold which isn't too surprising considering the ingredients. The skill level is higher than the arcanite transmute but I've forgotten just how high; it's grey to me now at skill of 374.

i'm not an alchemist so i can't testify that this is the person that can teach it, but the birds name that i have found that is a grand master alchemist is named Lorokeem

I got the mats, and the alchemist wanted to charge 70g (saying he needed to go to scholo to make it). When he found out there was an alchemy lab in lower city the price fell to 10g + mats - I was happy ^_^

To the person that was complaining about Jewel Crafting prices. Thank you for stating the completely obvious. Have you not tried ANY other crafting proffessions, well, theres a reason that almost every crafter will say "free with mats" as i ahve spent well over that amount level my enchanting. Along with that, have you tried leveling blacksmithing. You need aobut 400 mithril bars jsut to become and armorsmith, and to hit 300, you need well over 300 bars of thorium.

amen to that, that last hurdle leveling blacksmithing from 280-300 was a royal pain in the ass. but moving on... yes, crafted items can be expensive- very much so at times- but you need to put some thought into how much work goes into leveling some skills. my blacksmithing is current sitting at around 356, and the two items that i know (have the patterns for) that will give me a guarenteed skill-up require a) five primals and b) six felsteel bars + primals. farming for mats is a $%^&*, as everyone and their stealthed rogue buddy is grinding for the same mats. and if you can't farm the mats for whatever reason, youre forced to resort to the auction house, where the average primal (on my server) is around 20g. so the next time someone wants you to pay 500g for a crafted item made with their materials, give pause. /endrant

There seems to be absolutely no connection to the price of mats to the AH price of raw or cut stones. A stack of Fel Iron sells for about 20g on my server. You can prospect that and get four uncut gems which typically are offered at under 1g and the lower level cuts are about the same. There needs to be some level of common sense by the JC artisans to stop posting their wares at less than mat value.

I love the last post. It is quite humorous that the people complaining all the time about professions and the low prices are the same people that have things that are cheaper than the raw items themselves in AH.

I just use the prospecting skill to make my money, adn teh new glass gem is also quite nice, though it is a 24 hour reset.

I get a stack of Fel Iron Ore, sells between 7 gold adn 14 gold. I stick to the 7 to 8 gold a stack, prospect it, and from 5 stacks I usually get between one blue rated gem up to 5 depending on my luck that day.

So instead of buying a outragiously priced design (i.e. most Living Ruby designs go for over 250 gold) I just sell the gems to people dumb enough to buy that expensive design.

A raw Living Ruby sells for about 55 gold on Eonar, a cut Living Ruby (regardless of the design) sells for about 40 gold. So I guess I have saved the 250+ gold for the design, and made 10 gold more selling the raw gem.

Hell with this over priced Mercurial Stone, haven't seen one under 50 gold yet, but I am not stupid enough to go and buy the mats and pay some Alc. another 40 gold to make the damb thing.

Also be intelligent about selling your stuff, selling Monday through thursday will get you higher prices than on the weekend when all the strange people like to cheat themselves out of gold by undercutting everyone, and then the next rocket sceintist shows up and sells his for less, and so on. But come monday evening all of their auctions expire and you can get a good price for the things you sell-

God I love forums, it is a place for people to complain about other people, and no one give a damb in the first place. But like myself I feel so much better posting something that perhpas someone will read, but it will not change anything.

are these things even worth making as a alchemist? i think the training its selfs is 1 or 2g then farming the mats to make them. are they worth making and trying to sale? im a lvl 70 pally and just have never had any reason to make one just wondering thanks

I'm a Jewelcrafter and I would give you 50- 100 gold for a Mercurial Stone right now....... so I'd say.... always have one in the AH.
