A staff with 550 armor is incredible! Druids get a 180% armor increase in bear form so thats an additional 990 armor! We have a Feral Druid in our guild with this staff, he's a level 65 with over 16,000 armor!

Dropped for me from a trash mob in the Auchnai Crypts.

Ironically, I was tanking the instance - and it bumped me from around ~11,000 armor to ~15,100.

Pretty exciting, considering this staff is still going for around 120g on Archimonde. :3'

Fantastic tanking weapon - and great to hold onto until grinding reputation for Cenarion Expedition's Earthwarden at Exalted.

Should I prefer the armor over the stats and take the Braxxiìs Staff of Slumber?
I know that 550 armor are a lot more armor in dire bear form, but 45 stamina are hp and 30 agi is useful for the dodge rating.
(and there is a lot more attack power... 64+62 from strenght... not the main stat for a tank, but 126 attack power can be useful)

On PTR, this staff now has +39 sta and the damage was slightly tweaked.. 130-223 now.

Got this staff off the AH tonight for my feral drood--definitely worth the investment. Stuck the +25 agi on it right away for the extra armour/dodge/crit% (can't do the +35 agi yet, didn't feel like splurging on the mats).

Just a note about the contributions to armour since the change to dire bear form:

- the staff contributes 2750 armour total in dire bear form before agility;
- the staff contributes 3025 armour total in dire bear form before agilility w/ 3/3 Thick Hide.

This dropped for me while I was doing the quest "The Foot of the Citadel".

I was quite pleasantly surprised, as most of the orcs there are 62-63, and this a 64 item. However, there is a chance that it dropped from one of the elites that are part of that quest.

This is the best Bear Form mitigation staff before Earthwarden, Wildfury Greatstaff or Pillar of Ferocity.

Indeed a very good tanking weapon, and definately better than Staff of Beasts in terms of tanking. As a tanking weapon it lasted me till Earthwarden without any porblems. As for my dps weapon, Staff of Beasts lasted me till i got Terestian's Stranglestaff.

It also seems to get a slight buff in AP in patch 2.3

I got this from an underbog run at 62, its greeat, definitely way better than staff of beasts for tanking. Better than pretty much any staff until lvl 70 ones like earthwarden. Pretty unique graphic too. I have around 14k armor in bear form at 66 (along with 30% dodge). safe to say I have no issues tanking

I list the Feral Staff of Lashing > Braxxis due to the large agility bonus and substantially increased Str+AP, which combined is generally worth more than the loss of 250 base armor. Staff of Natural Fury, while a fabulous all-round feral staff for PvP, is inferior for PvE tanking.

Feral Staff of Lashing vs. Earthwarden boils down to personal preference and/or your other gear: you're trading AP and agility for armor, defense, and expertise.

Braxxis is a steal at the AH, considering it's a top-5 druid tanking weapon in the entire game, and is arguably slightly better than Earthwarden, and definitely better than Feral Staff of Lashing, in terms of pure damage soak.

I usually get annoyed at all the people posting about how they got it for uber cheap, because that never happens to me...until tonight.

3 Staves were in the AH last week for 100-150...so I farmed this week to get the money, but all week long, no staff. Checked tonight, and someone put one up for 500g...ugh. I ding, port to TB to train, check the AH on my way, and there it is, for 50g...

Actually it's 3327.5 armor if you have 3 points in Thick Hide, so it's definitely a (very nice, until lv70) tanking weapon, for pure dpsing I still use Ursol's Claw, lesser feral attack power bonus, but the other stats make up for that lack: (in braces the values with a fully skilled Survival of the Fittest)
160 base + 67.2 (69,216) from Str + 27 (27,81) Agi = 254.2 (257,026) attack power, plus the ~1.2% crit chance from the agi
But anyway, I love it, and it looks cooler than Ursol's Claw ;)

Normally I don't do the "I got this for so cheap" posts, but this morning just blew me away.
Sitting in Shatt on my hunter, see this staff in trade channel. The conversation goes like this:

- WTS cheap!
- How cheap?
- 20g
- sold
- ok

How can people now know how much items like this are worth? I felt bad and paid him 25g, but still...

I agree with the above post about Ursol's Claw being a better dps weapon, but this has more armor than even Earthwarden. Best tanking weapon in the game pre-70.

I got it while doing Nesingwary's hunting quests in Nagrand on my warlock. Dropped from a normal mob. My druid alt was 62 at the time, yay for me.

Looks to be the second best druid tanking weapon in the game now. The best non-epic.

Hi I have one of these awesome staffs for sale on the AH in the Aggramar Realm.
Minimum bid is set at 250g and buyout is set at 375g! This is on the HORDE AH by the way...

Talk about luck. Well maybe not considering I have been in outlands since before I could even do any quests there and havent seen this drop until now at lvl 66 but anyways i was still stunned. the 550 armor in bear form yields just under 3k armor at 2974 additional armor. Ofcourse the armor increasing talent points are in effect but 3k armor on 1 item is outrageous lol. And even though i am swapping from Staff of Four golden coins which has 25 str 24 agi and 37 stamina i still am a couple attack power to the good because SoFGC only adds 174 to attack power and this is obviously 234. I considered just using it to tank with on tougher mobs but even on chessy mobs when i am in bear form just to maintain cc just to keep my head from hurting when i 3 box i still may use it. Quite a bit on the crit chance knocked off but i likes dem armors is what i am saying lol

I was so damn excited about getting this I forgot to tell where i got it from lol Off a Warpstalker in Terrokar while I was farming for hides and such.

I saw in trade someone was looking to sell some things and this was one of them. So I sent him a tell asking how much. He sent me links so some vendor items asking if i wanted them, I told him no that I was intersted in the staff. He didn't write ack, so I got on here and looked it up and while I was reading everything you guys had written, this guy was talking to me, trying to get me in a group so he could give it to me. He wanted 26g for it. When I got back I scrolled up on my chat box adn saw it, so I replied to his tell, but he was gone. I was so mad. I could have shot myself. I went and checked my mailbox alittle while later cause the icon showed up and low and behold there was the staff. That made my night.I am only level 60 right now, but you can guarantee that Staff is going to stay in my bag and the second I hit 64 it's getting equipped.

Great staff but I sold the one that dropped for me for 50g because Staff of Beasts] Is from the Ring Of Blood event in nagrand and you can get it early with a good group , at 65 I believe

If my calculations are correct that staff adds 2450 ish armor in dire bear form, and a goodly amount ot attack power.

while it has no stats, with that much armor i can dump a few high armor giving items, and add more stats in other areas to more than make up the differnce.

This item is a must have feral tanking item, others are nice but why do people compare this to earth warden? lvl 70 epic? those 6 lvls from 64-70 are going to take some time as i plan to enjoy the content, not grind, this will get a lot of use...

Droped when I was farming Signets for my scryer rep at Firewing Point in Terokkar Forest (around 69,37)... I'll wait until patch 2.1 when it gets buffed and then sell it for more money:) As a druid, already having one, I'm looking forward to that incoming patch :)

I paid a mere 44g a day after a guildmate had paid 350g buyout for this beauty. Really good alternative to the Staff of Beasts for hard-hitting but otherwise harmless bosses.

until you can get the epic 500 armor staff go fro this and lay your Warden Staff to Rest....
You can't really do better till your level 70 for teddy... and even for cat this is not bad, but it comes into its own in teddy.. cant wait to try mine out in an instance now...

I'm only level 63, but I got lucky on this; bid 60 on one with a 120 buyout, and nobody else bid. It was one of three on auction at the time, but they've been few and far between since I got it.

I plan on poutting the +25 agility enchant on it by the time I can use it. Thanks to Blizzard for making the bear so much fun to play again.

Guildmate got this as a random drop the other night, and bein' the only feral in the guild I was given it by him. Slapped a +20 str enchant on it and am absolutely lovin it! Hit a 5 point fer. bite on an Ony Warden for 3300 at level 64 before the enchant.

If you're going for this staff for tanking (if you're getting it for dps you're not too bright) theres a 2h agil enchant of +35, its a drop in Arc by any of the mobs there, and the enchant isnt very rare would just take 5-6 runs to get it.

2805 armor for bears from one item. Yeah it lacks agi/dodge, but to get the armor up, it's nice. Paid 90g for it, and it'll do until I get earthwarden.

Got mine from a mob in terrokar forest whilst grinding for feathers.

Went to AH a happy bunny until i saw 5 alreay there ranging from 60g to 25g buyouts.

Think i'll hold onto it until there is more demand for it on my server.

Apparently, in the next patch, this is gettint like 39 stamina added on to it, hold on to it, it very well may be a better tanking staff than earthwarden.

EDIT** Earthwarden is now also getting 39 stamina, making this a very nice taking staff, but not the best tanking weapon.

yeah Khaz-goroth can have up to 3-4 selling at once, lowest I've seen it is about 18G, highest 80G. I got mine for 30G and whacked on +25 agility since Im more kitty than teddy.

Just bought 2 of them off the AH for 25g and 27g buyout. Problem is my level 70 druid is on a different server so I may have to wait until September when I transfer my hunter (who bought them), to be able to use it.

I have not seen one in the AH on Bloodhoof (horde side), in quite some time.

Nice tanking staff, I got a lv64 feral druid DPS/Tanking hybrid. I just got a +25 agi buff on it and I still have a very nice critical rate with good dodge and it boosted my armor in bear from ~8500 to 11649 armor and I still hold a rating of 450+ dps in cat form while grinding. I only paid 15g for it in AH and spent about 50g on the enchant, which I already had some of the mats to. I am loving the 6700 hp in cat and over 9k in bear form. With this staff equiped I dealt a ferocus bite of 3.3k and I dont have any points in feral aggression. My normal crits with it are over 2.5k though.

For the price its a very nice staff. Would be even nicer if it had an extra strength boost to it though.

I really think that getting this immediately at lvl 64 and putting 35 agility on it is the best idea. I have searched all of thot and I don't think there is a better tanking staff until earthwarden. Sure, the attack power is a tad low for keeping aggro off a 69 mage, but this thing will definitely be your tanking staff until level 70. Worth the enchant, and it always seems to be on the AH at a decent price.

I just hit 64 and equipped the one i had in my bags, brought my armor up to 13.5k and my hp up to 9.5k. Pretty decent for a 64 tank. Also running 28% dodge. I can get 30% dodge if I swap out a stam ring for one "of eluding", still haven't decided what is better, 2.5% dodge or 600hp in bear form.

Well i got this staff today at the Ah bought it for like 45g, and i'm telling you i'm loving it as a lvl 64 feral NE druid.just wanted to know if putting savagery on it better then a +20 Str. enchant or should i go for the +35 Agility enchnat, Thanks.
