Any demons in the area can drop them. We were grinding in a group of 3 alchemists, and we had 3 drop in about a half hour. Pretty easy grind.

I assume the low drop rate is caused by a simple reason. It will only drop of you are/have an alchemist in the team.

I killed Shadow Council Warlock near about 2 hours in Shadowmoon Valley to receive = Recipe: Major Shadow Protection Potion.
But has received this :))) = Recipe: Fel Strength Elixir

I had to kill about 60 of the Wrathwalkers to get the drop. These mobs are plentiful and seem to have a good respawn rate.

I partied with a guildie farming this recipe. He's alchemy, I am not. After we've killed approx 75-100 mobs we still didn't have the recipe. When I went out of range and he killed one totally solo the recipe dropped. Maybe luck, maybe no help is required to make it drop.

Can anyone confirm if it actually doesn't drop if you get help from a non-alchemist.

In about an hour I grinded out all 3 Fel alchemy reciepes in SMV. Very easy. I made about 30-ish gold off the drops/cloth too.

In 2.1 you will only be able to have 1 Battle Elixir on at a time, so this will definitely be in high demand for those fury warriors when picking the 'best' battle elixir you can have on.

I was killing Shadow Council Warlocks for the Major Shadow Protection Potion recipe (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=22924) and this dropped on about the tenth kill or so. I never did get what I was actually after, but I'll head back to farm there next time I feel like farming ^^

Grinding for aldor rep items in Shadowmoon and got this one. I'd killed a good 60 or so mobs before it dropped, but I didn't even know they dropped it, so it's a bonus for me, being an alchemist. :P

Farmed it today, was there for like 20minunts, and 2recipe's dropped at 2mobs, to bad you can only loot one haha..

But you can see droprate is much higher.

Dropped for me while doing a quest in the Legion Hold, in western Shadowmoon Valley.

Only killed about 10 NPC while I was there, all demons dropping Aldor rep items.

This took no less then 10mins of my time to pick up the recipe, just grind the listed NPC's . My pick up was @ (25, 35) against a Mo'arg Weaponsmith.

I highly recommend to farm this recipe of the Shadow Council Warlock. This is for multiple reasons, one being that they die compareably faster then demons. They are also all pretty nicely packed up and have a low respawn timer. But most important, they drop the recipe for Major Shadow Protection potion, brilliant way to get two recipes at once.

Both dropped of same mob after approx 15 minutes of coop farming with a rogue friend. VERY high respawn rate.

Ok I guess I'm very unlucky. Every poster above me said they farmed this for max 15 minutes. I've been after those demons and Shadow council warlocks for 1½ hours now! Still no Major Shadow Protection recipe or this.

I can't even guess that the newest patch reduced the drop rate because poster above me was playing at the time of 2.4.2 too.
And I've probably killed hundreds of demons now. I'm an affliction warlock with 1100 spell damage so yea, I pull 5-6 demons and they die rather fast. I don't have any downtime while farming.

Why no drop? I don't know. I'll just keep farming. Oh yea and yes: I'm an alchemist.

EDIT: Yes, finally. Farmed ~15 minutes at the other day and got it.

I was farming for the Shadow Prot recipe and this thing dropped off my 4th Shadow Council Warlock. Then it took me well over a hundred warlocks to get the recipe for Shadow Protection potion. Its all luck I say!

It took me 2 hours to get this recipe and 5 hours to get the Major Shadow Protection Potion recipe. The recipes that drop from the Shadow Council do have a low drop rate; some people will get lucky and some will have bad luck like I did. But even if it takes forever for it to drop, you'll likely be looting Marks of Sargeras in massive quantities. After 5 hours, I had collected 200 marks and 10 Fel Armaments, along with 14 greens. If you're an alchemist and don't have these recipes and you still need Aldor rep, this is the place to grind.

I didn't really expect it to be farmable, considering the given percentages on allakhazam, but I actually got it from about the 15th mob, a Wrathwalker, in Legion Hold :)

Was farming them for 2 and a half hours. Friends have gotten in 10 min ><. Farmed up a rare ring. 6x fel armaments and about 70x aldor signits...+ countless other junk. Over and done with.

Today I decided to farm Terrormasters for this recipe, dropped on my 8th Terrormaster kill.

Never quested there so my time was kind of effecient. ^^

Hehe, were farming for the shadow prot recipe and had done a few respawns for the locks, and then this dropped. 5 locks later the shadow recipe dropped :P

This item was bugged for me and I got it to drop 3x times off the demons, it wouldn't let me loot it. I logged out twice and it was still bugged out.

I used to farm there all the time for other things. I've probably spend more than 10 hours killing these mobs. At the time, I didn't even know this dropped (and didn't have alchemy).

Now I have 375 alchemy, and I wish to get this. After reading how many people got it so quick, I'm wondering if you can't even see it unless you have alchemy? Because 10+ hours of farming where others are getting it in 2 hours or less (some in just a few kills) this seems odd otherwise.

If so, I should be able to pick one up after farming there just a bit more. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

EDIT: Just tried it, and it dropped within 30 mobs. Guess you need alch to be able to see it.

It dropped off a Terrormaster for me last night as I went farming for the shadow protection potion in Legion Hold. Funny thing is, one of my buddies was in the party but was somewhere else who is also an alchemist. When it dropped I linked it to him and he uttered some swear words and said he is coming there. About 10 minutes after his arrival it dropped again, this time I didn't see it, I just saw him get it as he rolled on it.

So twice in about 30 minutes. Good drop rate I'd say, at least for alchemists.

it was pretty sweet. i was up in legion hold in shadow moon, grinding through the shadow council warlocks so that i could get my major shadow protection potion recipe so that i could make those then get a cauldron of it for some raids, and BAM! out of nowhere, totally unexpected this drops. Awesome! Sure, im a lock so i don't really use it but it should be great for money or instances on others. 21 kills or so later major shadow prot pot recipe fell. Before i did this, I also got major arcane prot pot recipe after about 30-40 min of grind. It was a great day.

It's best to farm the warlocks for this recipe, they die in a matter of seconds and respawn almost instantly ..
I've been grinding on the demons for 1h and got a lot of rep yet no recipe, then got it in 3 kills from the warlocks, 10 kills or so later I got the shadow prot recipe.

Killed like 60 of the Warlocks...no good (though i did get the shadow resistance potion). Killed one wrathwalker, and got the recipe. :)

This also dropped for me off a warlock. I have to say, this one took a bit more time to find. The Shadow BOP recipe was much easier to find. I play a mage, and my boyfriend a hunter. I made a stack once I got it, and asked him to use it to see how well it works...

Trust me, it's worth the grinding for it. Once all my hunter friends found out, it's one of the first things they ask for.

But like I said, a bit harder for it to drop.... Totally worth the effort and time.

this one was pretty easy as a protpaladin. just stack as many demons as you can and kill them^^ after 35 mobs I got it!
