This is a "Jewelcrafer only" type of gem.

A reward for being a JC.
Like blacksmiths and the such get bop items to use for themselves.

Marginally better than a +8 strength gem for a feral Druid (24ap instead of 21.75). Same mats anyway so worth taking.

Why no +10 strength or +10 agility gems? :'(

so where did the +12hit rating and the +12agi gems go ? as far as i know the recipes were available on ptr but have been removed when the patch went live. has anybody got info on whether they will make it some future patch or have been removed for good ? any facts hightly appreciated.

These gems might seem like only a minor boost. But bear in mind, unlike the perks offered by Tailoring, Smithing, etc, there are no upgrades to these gems, and they'll continue giving you an extra edge long after people have replaced their Leatherworking BoPs and so forth with raid gear.

Given that each role has two gems for them: Sta/Def for tanks, AP/Crit for melee, Dmg/Crit for casters, and Heal/Crit for healers (although ideally extra gems are needed to cater for non-crit reliant healers and DoT-focused classes), they're similar upgrades to the enchanters' ring enchants.

Would it be possible to use this gem after dropping JC ? I mean, i would take enchanting for the ring enchant and make some stocks of this gems so i will have for future use, Anybody tested this?

nope its bop and u cant socker through trade windows, not only that but since it make items soulbound when used so you cant cheat the system by puting it in boe armor and traden it eather

The uncut gem, living ruby, does not drop in hyjal or bt as the previous poster stated. They are found while mining and from prospecting adamantite ore (JC ability).

The gem is bind on pickup, and also makes any item it is placed into soulbound (so that you cannot trade a boe item with the gem socketed in it).

The gem is unique-equipped, which means that you can have as many as you'd like in the bank and in your bags, but you can only wear one at a time. You cannot have one on your helm and one on your shoulders, otherwise you would be unable to have both equipped at the same time.
