Farming for these for Loatheb has made me want to kill myself.

But, if you are looking to farm them, I've found the best place to be in Scarlet Monastery. I'm getting about 3 grave moss and some kingsblood and fadeleaf every time i reset the graveyard.

Another great place to farm Grave Moss is Razorfen Downs. There is roughly 4 nodes that spawn in Razorfen Downs. You might have a slight bit of difficulty reaching some the spawns if you are not a rogue though.

this aint rare at all. atleast not for me atm. i have 5 stacks of them, and i have only been spending 3 hours in Dusckwood at raven hill.

As Raven Hill in Duskwood is generally more crowded than the Kodo Graveyard in Desolace, it can be somewhat easier to find them in the latter area, though it is somewhat more dangerous as the vultures there are of a considerably higher level than the undead in Raven Hill.

I have seen it in the Kodo graveyard that is located desolace. You can sometimes find it in graveyards in the higher lvl areas, but the Kodo graveyard is the only place I know that is spawns regurlarly.

Yes.. shadow oil, and shadow protection potion, as you can see by scrolling up. :P

On my server, both sell for upwards of a gold, so it's probably a worthwhile investment.

The Kodo Graveyard has been a goldmine for me. I've found a ton, and it respawns fairly quickly.

There's also 2 quests there (Bone Gathering and Kodo Roundup) so you can pick while working.

I usually patrol duskwood, running from tranquil glades, to raven hill, and back. Each one sells for about 60s on my server, so its definately a good money making herb

You can find some in the south barrens in the bristleback camps as well. I harvested 20 there in about 15 minutes, while killing boars.

u can find it regularly on graveyards beginning lvl20 areas and up. around the tomb in the wetlands as well as the graveyards in duskwood and the kodo graveyard in desolace are very good places to find it. don't know about the respawn times but if u check back daily, there usually at least one or two picks per place. good luck!

this is definately my favorite herb cause i can sell it for 10g-20g on my server and all i have to do is hang around duskwood for a while

You can walk past all mobs in SM "grave"yard, and pick the node there...

almost always drops 3 grave moss, exit instance, reset instance.

rinse and repeat. 10-15 grave moss in 10 mins

This is a small guide on how to farm alot of grave moss in a short amount of time.

First, set your hs to duskwood.

Fly to southshore, ride to Sm, enter Graveyard.
Bypass everything and loot the Grave moss, run out and reset the instance. Do this 5 times untill the 1 hour instance cd starts. (0-3 Grave moss plants per run)

Use your Hs and ride to the Traquil cemetary
(79,68) (1 grave moss plant)

Then ride to Raven hill Cemetary (20,44) . Scout around the crypts (2 grave moss plants)

Fly to Wetlands and ride to Ironbeards tomb
(44,25) (2 grave moss plants)

Fly to Arathi Higlands and ride to Stromgarde keep (26,64) and enter the alli side, go near the crypt (1 grave moss plant)

When you have done this you can start all over in Sm again.

I have done this some time now and at most Ill make around 60 grave moss each hour

Its used for making shadow oil which is made for Greater Shadow Protection Pots and u need them for some bosses in Nax

Loatheb. Every serious kill/ atempt requires 3 greater shadow protection potions per raider.
120 greater shadow protection potion = 480 grave moss and 480 fadeleaf PER ATEMPT.

And then devs say they dont want to design encounters around consumables.

For level 60 it's easy to bypass everything and loot the Grave moss. Then run out and reset the instance. You can to 5 times (4x reset) every 1 hour time.
Result: 13 Grave moss pieces, but also many Kingsblood: 28 pieces.
Another round: 19 Grace moss pieces, 10 Kingsblood pieces.
1 problem: you're banned for 1 hour for every instance. Better look out.

Mount to Wetlands (Ironbeards tomb). One plant above and one inside. 3 pieces. Not very much.

Another good place is Kodo graveyard. I know there is always some grave moss to find. But it's in another world part, and it's too far to travel, unless you're mage. :) Teleport in DS and fly there.

Very southern barrens, around the razormanes, there's two or three nodes. That's where I get most of mine.

USES FOR GRAVE MOSS:

As some posters have pointed out to the people who like to comment before checking the whole page, this is used for Shadow Oil and shadow protection potions.

As for those who find these items 'useless,' if you click on Shadow Oil, you will also see that it's a component of various mid-level items made with blacksmithing, jewelcrafting, leatherworking, and tailoring. Nothing spectacular, I grant you, but a few things that are nice for those who cast shadow spells. If you go around bashing things without doing your homework, you are going to look like an ignorant jerk. Just, you know. FYI.

I would advise you all to go search some at Raven Hill semetry in duskwood. I found loads of dust there and it can sell pretty good when the prices are high.
If you don't feel like going there just go SM Graveyard, there drop like 2/4 a run and you do SM Graveyard in like 20 mins.

I keep finding this stuff (grave moss, that is), but I'm not sure what it's used for. I'm 225 in herbalism, and have yet to find a use for it. Is it worth farming?

Grave moss can be found on one gravestone in Raven HIll Cemetery in Duskwood, South of Elwynn Forest. I is just south of the hole in the ground that leads down into the catacombs. Almost dead center in the cemetery, there is also a spot in Stromgarde on the Alliance side, in by the vendor who sells the Expert First Aid book, you have to go around the right side of the building to get to it.

I'm finding it valuable in classic as it's used to make Shadow Oil which is used in 5 different recipes across 3 different professions. This may not last as all of the recipes are for items in the 30-40 level range, take advantage while you can.

There's a lot of good information here, but no post really synthesises the information nicely.

Grave moss is used for Greater Shadow Protection potions, and you're likely wanting to stock up on it (and Fadeleaf) to make them for phase 5 and 6. As a lot of the other comments from antiquity have said, doing Scarlet Monastery: Graveyard is an excellent way to stock up on them. You'll need Fadeleaf as well, so you may as well do Armoury and Library while you're at it. Cathedral as well if you're so inclined, for the Goldthorn and Liferoot. All nodes can give 1-3 herbs.

As a level 60, it's pretty easy to skip all the mobs due to the giga level disparty, especially if you have access to stealth. I'm farming on a mage, so you can blink through any particularly cluttered hallway of mobs (Library is the main offender here).

Graveyard has three herb spawns, which can be any combination of Grave Moss and Kingsblood. Kingsblood is mostly useless, and it's possible that you can have three Kingsblood spawns and no Grave Moss (and the reverse is also true!).

Cathedral has two Goldthorn spawns; one on each level, and one Liferoot spawn, which can spawn on either level in the water.

Armoury has one Fadeleaf spawn, which is in courtyard as you walk in. It can either spawn at the very start, or near the end.

Library has one Fadeleaf spawn in its courtyard, and a Liferoot in the little boss room of Houndmaster Locksey, if you're so inclined.

It took me between about 5m5s and 5m25s to herb all four wings - it can be easy to aggro a mob if you're not paying or attention or are being particularly ballsy. I imagine this would take maybe six minutes for other classes, especially on a druid or rogue that has to deal with the debilitating stealth movement penalty. I'd also avoid attempting to grab the chest in the first boss room of Graveyard, as it will auto-aggro the pack next to it.

Another comment talked about Alliance post-Graveyard farming, so here's a Horde version (it's probably bad, but it's a start). I have my hearth set to Grom'gol, and I hoon up to and around the Ruins of Zul'Kunda, then down to Lake Nazferiti and then up to Duskwood. Sometimes you'll get lucky and find some Fadeleaf, sometimes not. Then, I go west in Duskwood to Raven Hill Cemetery and go up and down each side to get Grave Moss; I'll usually find 2-3 nodes.

And obviously you'll need Dreamleaf, but that's easy and I'm sure you'll manage finding some.

Kodo Graveyard in Desolace and Raven Hill Cemetary in Duskwood. Between those two spots I easily made enough money on the AH in a few days to buy my first mount. In Desolace I wasn't even really farming, I was just questing in the area and would stop by to check here and there. I went to Raven Hill for the first time today since I had my hearth set to Gromgol - I got 13 grave moss on my level 36 hunter in about an hour. They sell for around 1 g each on my server.

There are 10 Grave Moss nodes in the Kodo Graveyard, Desolace. 2 spawns can be active at once on a 10-15 minute respawn timer. There are also 4 other locations where there are single node spawns around Desolace. Not a bad place to hit and do a circle around the zone because you can also pick up quite a few Gromsblood.

Any Grave Moss node (just like any herb node with exception of Ghost Mushrooms and Lotuses) can spawn between 1-3 Grave Moss.

Here’s a review of the two main sources: SM GY and Desolace (Desolace if done right is far better Grave Moss per hour than SM but more on that later.)

SM GY: though you’re guaranteed x3 nodes, RNG will determine wether it’s Grave Moss or Kingsblood but overall, the chance of there being a Grave Moss node is smaller than, and the number of Moss you receiver generally is lower as well. I often have runs where there have been 6 Grave Moss nodes out of 15 per hour, and 1 Grave Moss per node was the most frequent pick. If you are happy to use your daily account resets on Grave Moss alone, by all means, SM GY is about as good as any place for it.

Desolace: there are 25 Grave Moss only nodes scattered between the outer edges of and paths of Desolace as well as in the Kodo Graveyard - though the biggest cluster is in the graveyard (11 nodes) you’re not always guaranteed spawns. If you are camping the GY for Moss, you have a smaller chance of spawning new nodes, as there is very very rarely more than 1 node up at any one time in the GY, so you are partly relying on other players farming Grave Moss nodes elsewhere on the map. If you are the only person farming Grave Moss in Desolace and your camp the graveyard, you will most likely see the least amount of active spawns. Many people do not realise this. When you are the only person farming Grave Moss in Desolace and you hit every node on the map, you will find x4 nodes per map clear. This is anything from 4-12 Grave Moss per round, and it takes about 6-7 minutes. If someone is farming GY only, you can pick up between 2-3 nodes around the map. Doing full clears of Desolace for Grave Moss yields you the most Moss per hour if you are able to commit the time.
