When you eat the cake it shoots off fire works, nothing amazing, does not seem to do anything else.

Just to clarify: this buff appears to be nothing more than an icon on your buff bar with nothing behind it. It presumably does not over-write or replace anything and you gain no percievable benifit from it other than being able to point at your guildies and go "Ha! I had Cake!"

...which, admittedly, is TOTALLY worth it if you're like me and have been known to wear beer goggles in Karazhan. >.>

The recipe to make this comes from the daily cooking quests given by The Rokk in the Lower City in Shattrath.

It is a random drop in (presumably) either the crate of meat or barrel of fish that you can choose as a reward.

I also got it from a crate of meat, though it seems it is possible to get it from the Barrel of fish as well.

Interesting enough, the cake will show who made it in the tooltip... similar to a crafted product than food~

The "buff" does not override any other food buff and can be dispelled by right clicking its icon.

While you're eating the cake, fireworks will shoot off from you... I was one of the first who found the recipe and ate the cake. I actually startled quite a few people(including myself) when I eat my first cake in the middle of Stormwind Trade District...

Tested on my level 42 druid today. This does not increase XP gain. I was getting the same amount of rested and unrested XP before and after eating the cake. This comment, like the cake itself, is a lie. :)

I think it allows you to tame any Aperture Science Weighted Storage Cube and gain a Weighted Companion Cube as a result.

I got the pattern in the meat crate. It wasn't hard for me to find it, at all.

The cake sends out three, random fireworks, as well as a smoke rocket from the front of the character.

It pulses the fireworks display 6 times.

Goto The Barrens or Westfall if you want the eggs, and also herb there if you can. You can also cook the cake on the fire pit in the town in Westfall, Im not sure if The Barren's town also has a firepit, but I would assume it would.

for me, the cost of making one cake is:
Mild Spices (5 pk): .09 S.
Simple Flour (2x 5pk): .42 S
Cold Milk (5k). 1.06 S.
Flask of Port: 1.28 S.
Mageroyal. Free
Small Egg: Free.
Total: 44 Silver.

For Horde in Orgrimmar, the Cooking Supplies vendor will sell you the spice and the flour, the drink vendor near the AH will sell you the Ice Cold Milk and the Flask of Port. Gotta get the Mageroyal and the Small Egg on your own.

What is funny is that I am probably the luckiest person... I just bothered to the the cooking daily after about a week of ignoring it and low and behold, the cake recipe in a Barrel of Fish.
My conclusion: The Cake is, indeed, no lie.

require cooking skill 1. don't think you can improve your cooking skill by making cakes... amazing. I mean, such a wonderful cake doesn't require much skill to make it, but a rare recipe. :P the happy buff does not replace well fed
It's really easy to get some Small Eggs and herb by yourself. To sell the cake... even it's a lie and many people know it, they are still buying them in AH - 7g50s top price record as far as i know.
Also ... some thing you must take with you if your girl friend is having birthday party / you are out with her on a date. As "Tadhg" mentioned above, 44 silver for some colorful fireworks ain't bad anyway, (disregard your rep with silver moon city about discounts) it's worth. Rather regarding it's a lie, why not take it as a joke?

p.s. i got lucky, i got the recipe in my 5th fish bucket. :)

Just got this on my rogue tonight. All it did was fireworks shot up when i was eating it. Then i got a you feel very happy buff which is ironic cause i don't feel happy because it did nothing at all.

It was the first recipe I got. While I did have to make 5 of them or so total for my friends, it was a pain in the ass because of the mats. While I have no objection to "fun" items, the fun factor drops off at a steep curve when the mats are this bad.

I made this for all my guildies today for my birthday and they loved it!

Eversong woods is the best drop rate for the eggs... farmed out 520 with a friend in a relatively short time.

My low lvl toon picks flowers, so I didn't have to pay the prices mageroyal is going for on AH right now... 8G a stack, craziness!

Mats are not big of a deal. 4/6 mats, you don't have to leave the city to get it. Mageroyal and Small eggs, meh. Easy stuff, people love it, it can't take 30 min to make 1 cake. Ok, now I start to sound like Rachel Ray!

For everyone who doesn't get the reference, it's to Portal which is a puzzle game made by the guys who did Half-Life.

In it you are in a series of science experiments with a sinister computer voice egging you on, and keeps promising you cake at the end. Throughout the game you keep finding graffiti about "the cake is a lie the cake is a lie" and then the computer tries to kill you, and on top of that, there's no cake.

So for everyone who missed their cake in Portal, blizzard has thought of you. Enjoy your cake.

If you read the aura that is applied when eating ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=43776/very-happy ), you'll realize that it says: Apply Aura: Dummy.
So its an aura that does nothing.

Well after basically giving up on this I got it today on Cho'gall WOOT!

The best thing about this cake is that it can be wrapped up in wrapping paper and mailed to people as a nice surprise.

Guys, seriously, small eggs are insanely easy to grind. Dreadhawks around Silvermoon (of which there are tons) drop like 1~2 at a time. I ground 80 in about 20 minutes

If the buff did anything. ANYTHING for the hour duration this would be worth it but it's very disappointing that you only shoot fireworks off while eating and the get 60 minutes of NOTHING. It should give you the party buff uncooked deviates used to give where you would randomly emote and burst into dance. It's not worth spending your time flying to w/e noob zone to grind out eggs or just not plain worth it since it does nothing.

Well as this particular Cake may be a Very big let down... There is a Bit of a Solution (for funnies) And here Chimariko Shall bring it to you...

Raw Deviate Fish... I said it, YES I DID... Raw Deviate fish...

Eat those, and you can (randomly) Get a "Party Time" buff/curse

It'll make you do the following... /cheer, /dance, /clap, /chicken, /laugh Randomly for 2 minutes; Sorta what this cake might have done...

Deviate fish are gotten from the ponds out front of Wailing Caverns, in the barrens...

Eat hard, and PARTY...

The picture of the cake looks toxic :/
I mean, just look at it.
No chocolate color anywhere, green ooze, some berries that aren't even on the cake and a pointy STAR, thats right a STAR.
How the heck could a star be put in it, let alone why would anyone even put a star in it. -_-
And when you begin to eat your cake which has enough mats to make an epic blacksmith weapon, it turns out to be some sort of loaf.

Here's my deal. I have 3 level 70's. I do the cooking quests every single day. This recipe is harder to get to drop than Tome of Polymorph: Turtle. And that was VERY difficult to get. I don't understand why I am having such a hard time...

Saw this for sale sometimes, 6-10G for one, thought it was for a hunters pet, being hunters pets have moods and all, thought it was something you gave them to make them really content for an hour. lol Eggs are easy to get, at 70 with a mage, I can one shot them with my wand, run around afew minutes and get afew stacks worth. 3 months after the christmas event, eggs still go for 3-5 G each stack, so just go to eversong, right outside silvermoon and farm away. Tough recipe to get, been doing cooking dailies the past 3 months, never got it, Stormchops is more fun anyways. I take my BE mage to the starting area spire thingy that BE's start outside of with the cats that walk around, eat one, and zap the kitties. https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=33866/stormchops

Hmm,the only thing you'll have to buy from a.h. is the mageroyal.The eggs can be aquired from the Dragonhawks in Eversong Woods,just outside Silvermoon.The other ingredients can be both from every major town.As for the recipe itself,I think you can get it from the daily cooking quest.

Almost forgot about this one, just got it out of the Crate of Meat from Soup for the Soul

Single use consumable, directly eaten by the user

Simple Flour and Flask of Stormwind Tawny can be purchased in the Pig and Whistle Tavern (Northeast Old Town, Stormwind)

Stacks with Blackened Basilisk and therefore won't overwrite a food buff

Shoots three red fireworks from you every 3 seconds until the eating buff expires
