Recipe is obtained through the new Cooking daily quest. I received it from the box of meat reward that you can choose

Upon eating the food you shoot a firework in the air and get a buff called Very Happy. Nothing else has happened in the 5 minutes since I obtained the buff though.

Between the Recipe, the actual cake and the page for the buff you will find that the buff does nothing. You get a nice little buff that does not overwrite any other buffs and can be clicked off.

This recipe is a VERY rare reward/drop. I've been doing the daily cooking quests since the first day 2.3 came out, and as of 12/11/07 have still not gotten this recipe. I figure I've done the cooking quests probably 20 - 25 times. I've gotten every other new 2.3 recipe, but no cake. I've tried my luck with both the Crate of Meat and the Barrel of Fish rewards...doesn't seem to make a difference.

I started off choosing the the Barrels of Fish because there's a chance of getting a Goldenscale Vendorfish which is worth 6G when sold to a vendor. But then after I got the recipes for Skullfish Soup and Broiled Bloodfin I started choosing the Crates of Meat because those crates hold meat that you need for three out of the four cooking quests which could save you time grinding or money at the AH. Also, the skullfish and bloodfin recipes are the only two recipes not available from the crates of meat, so I wasn't missing out on anything after that by choosing the crates (except the rare chance of getting a vendorfish).

I'll post an update when I get the cake recipe. And I'm sure when I do I'll have my "Very Happy" buff on. :-)

Note that while the recipe only requires a single point of cooking skill to learn, you need at least 275 cooking to do the quest to get it, and it's BoP.

I got the pattern in the meat crate. It wasn't hard for me to find it, at all.

The cake sends out three, random fireworks, as well as a smoke rocket from the front of the character.

It pulses the fireworks display 6 times.

Goto The Barrens or Westfall if you want the eggs, and also herb there if you can. You can also cook the cake on the fire pit in the town in Westfall, Im not sure if The Barren's town also has a firepit, but I would assume it would.

for me, the cost of making one cake is:
Mild Spices (5 pk): .09 S.
Simple Flour (2x 5pk): .42 S
Cold Milk (5k). 1.06 S.
Flask of Port: 1.28 S.
Mageroyal. Free
Small Egg: Free.
Total: 44 Silver.

Mages can only steal buffs that are magical in affect. Since this is not a magical affect, it would not pertain to spellsteal.

Side note: Even if you remain seated, you will cease to shoot fireworks off after 2 minutes.

You must be level 70 to do this daily quest and cooking 275 to get the recipe. Good luck!

I heard people complaining they never got this recipe, after ages of trying. Just wanna say- There is hope!

The first time I EVER did the cooking daily quest, I got this recipe.
And spent a good 10 minutes after gloating in /trade while doing circles in the sky.

I got it today from the cooking quest. Very happy. A couple of guildies are getting married (RL and ofc ingame), and now I can make them cakes :) Another guildie will make them full tux and wedding dress. So nice.

Got mine outta the crate on my first daily. Shoots fireworks off while eating, and buffs with Very Happy. Dunno if that does anything really though.

Got mine out of barrel from cooking quest, but, I
would imagine it could come from crate as well.

Kind of like the proverbial Fruitcake that nobody eats, just re-gift it.

If you check out the other comments they are saying that nothing happens except that fireworks go off when you eat it and you get a happy buff for an hour which doesn't do anything... Still considering the amount of effort (not hard just a bit of a pain) to gather the mats it might make a nice gift for a friend in the game.

It's for both Alliance and Horde. It's a random drop from a Quest Reward you get from a level 70 quest in Shattrath.

As mentioned above, while you eat the cake, you shoot off like 4 fireworks at a time. The fireworks shoot off like ever 4-5 seconds. The buff itself has no effect.

The pain in making the item is the amount of mats needed. No big deal if you are only going to make one, but if you want to make, say 20, you will need a LOT of bag space.

Something else important to know is that THEY DO NOT STACK. Granted it would not make sense to have 20 cakes in a stack, lol.

The recipe is a random reward from the cooking daily quest, which is obtained from The Rokk in Lower City at 61, 16. You can randomly get the recipe from either the Barrel of Fish or the Crate of Meat.

they need to make a cooking cauldron in the same way the cooking fire works, but here, the food could proc like alchemy or tailoring items. "a little goes a long way."

that way everyone would want to use it, and then, i'd never be alone :(

First you gather some milk, flour, eggs, alcohol, some spices and a mageroyal. Throw them all into a campfire and watch them burn. after a few seconds you get chocolate cake that suddenly appears in your bag. Enjoy :D

I got it today on Classic TBC, 05/09/2021, we're currently on the prepatch for phase 2 so not sure if this was added for phase 2 or if it was available since phase 1, but I've been doing my dailies everyday for a few months now and this is the first time I see it.
