This mount is rumored to be quite expensive. Not the regular 200g, but 2000g. So if you're interested in buying one of these you'll have to spend 5k for 300 riding, and 2k for the mount itself.

New in patch 2.3, this is an epic flying mount which costs 2000g (1600g with the exalted discount) and requires you to have trained the ability to fly at an epic pace.

This mount is available to both horde and alliance. Like the Brewfest Ram, the availability to horde has caused some backlash from alliance players and roleplayers alike.

Prior to this hippogryphs have served as the primary flying public transport mount between cities controlled by the night elves. The exalted cenarion mount comes in original flavour only. It's grounded animation is the same as it's flying animation, much like the skyguard netherray.

I'd just like to clarify,

You need 5,000 gold to get the epic riding skill. Then on top of that you need 2,000 gold (maybe 1,600) plus exalted status with Cenarion Expedition, correct?

I was hoping that the 2,000 plus being exalted would get me the mount. Thus saving me 3,000 gold over an epic gryphon mount.... but from what I'm reading it will actually cost more.

1600g is a lot of money to spend on a mount if blizz then later decide to put the other colours up for sale.

would be nice if they let you exchange though.

I cant really understand why it costs so much, when the others (as stated above) costs somewhere around 200 gold. Im exalted with Netherwing, so I have my drake, exalted with Sha'tari Skyguard, so I can buy a ray whenever I want, and ofc I already have a gryphon. 2000 g for another mount is just silly, any speculations why it was made so expensive?

personally, i will buy this mount instead of the drake, simply because i love rubbing things like this in alliance face on my server. for me it's worth the 2000g. for an alliance player i don't think it would be worth it though.

Blizzard should at least make it fly 10~20% faster. Obviously not as fast as the Arena reward but just so there's a reason to buy these....

bare in mind that even in Azeroth there was never a running animation for hippogryphs. As mobs, they've always floated around just above the ground.

This may be intentional.

Beh, 1600 gold, that's two weeks of doing your dailies. In other words, a cakewalk.

If you have done the 5K grind already, and can do the Netherdrake dailies, making 1K a week is easily made in <2 hours a day.

The thing is, people tend to spend their easily-earned cash on other things, like having their craftable epics made, snatching world-epics from the AH, buying reagents for their pots, and all that. Getting that extra 1600 isn't hard at all, but people spend it on more epics and reagents. ^^

Once you're at Honored, yes, Slave Pens and Underbog stop giving rep on normal. However, with the change to heroics, you can start doing those on heroic mode, and still obtain rep. It's not quite as bad as it's made out to be.

Honored to Exalted is quite simple nothing crazy involved.

Do every quest for them outside the instances, turn in all the arnament you can get, run the daily heroic and non-heroic daily (run it on heroic though) when it is in underbog, slave pens, or steam vaults. You get all the rep for the clear and 250 rep for completing the daily.

The major quest hubs for CE are in: Hellfire, Zangarmarsh, Terrokar forest, Blades edge mountains.

part of the blizzard game plan to make all kinds of players feel special in their own way by making paths available for them to enjoy the game, even if these options seem insane or bizzare to regular gamers.

Well not really, and in my option, no, it isn't at all, since 10 spell damage is kind of worthless. However, since this enchant actually has a use, then yes, it is justifiable.

Is it justifiable to spend 400g for a 20 slot bag, when you can get a 16 slot one for 10g at most?

I'm gonna have to so no again, because the Price to slot ratio for each bag is very vast. However, again, this bag does actually does have a use, and I have about 4 primal mooncloth bags on my character. I didn't pay 400 gold for them though, I got the mats and had them made for much less.

Depends on if you want the drake or not, bug regardless, the dailies you are doing will provide you with a lot of gold, and more than enough to get the drake once you hit exalted. For me personally no, it's not, but I'll still do the dailies anyway because they get me gold.

Absolutely not. I'll say it again, this mount only looks cool, but other than that provides nothing beneficial, which is the point I'm trying so hard to get across to people like you. Yes it's your gold, and you can do what you want with it, but no matter what, it is a waste of gold and could of gone to something much more useful, even if you're sitting on a 20,000 gold stockpile.

Yes yes and oh god YES! However, you seam to be confused here, the speed difference between an epic mount and a flying mount is enormous, much more than 2%, and while the 5k gold IS a rip off, it is very justifiable because, again, the speed difference is freaking huge. I did a lot of reading about mount speed increases, and item enchant/riding crop speed increases. Your total speed on a non-epic flying mount is 160% (when you're running on ground you're already going 100% speed and you get a speed increase by 60%. by means to multiply. 100 x .6 = 60%, then just add that to your total speed 100% + 60% = 160%) With epic mounts, however, your speed increase is by 280%, which is a total speed of 380%. And when you equip a riding crop, you're total speed shoots up to 418% (380 x .1 = 38%, 380% + 38% = 418% total speed.)

While I can see where he's coming from, some people value aesthetics a little more highly than he seems to.

While there's no tangible value to the mount itself, it's no faster, it doesn't have lasers, it -is- relatively rare, and for some people that is a value in and of itself.

I mean, might as well argue that a pristine diamond has no real purpose, it's just something shiny that costs a lot... However they're rare. and are impressive, and for some people that's all the reason needed.

can anyone confirm the speed of this mount please, looked it up and i can't seem to find any confirmation 0o 280 or 310, imo it shud be 310 for the price we're paying.
I've noticed its 2000g at neutral, 1900g at friendly, could check on my mage but im lazy and hes only revered, from what i've read its 1600g with discounts etc at exalted.
Also read a couple of other things that i agree on, it should be a ally purchase only, im not a roleplayer perse but it to me is sort of a night elven iconic thing, theres no horde mount that we allys can get apart from the raptor in zg(troll mount lookalike) and the barons mount(undead mount lookalike)and even then they have a really poor drop rate, don't see why they can't get a bat from some ware 0o.

Ohh by the way, anyone wishing to purchase this mount can do so by going to the Cenarion Expedition quatermaster in Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh, coords 79'63.

It's the same color as the Hippogryph flying taxes and Thunderhead Hippogryphs in Azhara. Only differend thing is that its armored. Just got mine <3 Luv it ^_^

To answer your questions-

You have to be EXALTED to but it anyway. It costs 1600g when you are ABLE to buy it.

Only Gladiator mounts are 310% and the Phoenix mount I believe. This is normal 280%

It may seem to make sense on the surface to be Ally only. But the Cenarion guys have always been nuetral to both sides. Started with Cenarion circle in Silithus. They're druids- horde can be druids too. etc... Sure ya see where i'm going with this.

I wouldn't mind a bat =O but that definetly wouldn't fit in any lore I could think of.

I really don't think it's going to go down to 200g. Blizzard has made other rather expensive/rare aesthetic items, which serve no real purpose other than looking pretty or in this case, awesome.

And besides, if I ever did manage to get my hands on this, I would take a considerable mount of pride in knowing that probably less than one in hundred other players on my realm shared my noble steed.

The netherdrake is the giant lemon of air mounts. Huge veiw-blocking body and eye-twisting annoying wings. The cenarion mount looks cool, but for 1600g (at exalted) it should come over and do my laundry and dishes, too. I'll pass on both. (druid form FTW) Maybe I'm just bitter because the CE faction pretty much ignores my spec (balance). I may have to do their dirty work, but I'm not lining their pockets, too. :)

Oh by the way....I think it doesnt walk because its front legs are bird talons....i just looked at mine, and it looks like it would look really weird if they made it walk on those bird talons. i'll submit a pic

I'd rather have a hippogrypy then a drake anytime.Drakes are cool but when they flap thier wings it gets into your line of vision and is anoying.A hippogryph's wings are not as big and don't flap in your vison.But thats just what i think being a night elf hunter.Besides everyone has a drake be nice to have something different for a change.

The Cenarion War Hippogryph doesn't have a walk animation, it just hovers off the ground. Intentional since "hippogryphs don't walk" according to blues.

Also, only took like a day to farm this. Its more of a looks thing.

The rep grind for this is going to take far longer than the gold grind will.

And lets not pretend that those of us willing to pay for the training to ride this really give a %^&* that it costs 1600-2000 gold.

It's less of a hover and more like his back two limbs are the only thing touching the ground. He almost does a hop like a kangaroo. Short limbs up front that aren't touching the ground when still, but the back legs are...

Overall, a nice look to it. Is it worth 1600G...depends on if you actually are saving for anything and how hard it is for you to farm gold.

When i looked up this epic flyer on WoWwiki it had a lone extra picture of a Purple Armored Cenarion War Hippogryph that I would really like to get, but doesn't seem to be found anywhere else. Anyone know if this was just a beta version? For 1600g, I'm surprised you don't get to pick from a choice of 2 or 3 colors. I saw someone farther up the post chain who mentioned something about a white one as well. Any idea if there is a way to get one in other than the blue and orange colors?

This gorgeus mount requires a loooooong chain quest to get.
Some of the steps are 69man group :)\

Here are the steps:

1. Fly to Cenarion Quartermaster in Zangarmarsh
2. Buy mount (1600g if exalted)
3. Use mount and fly out

Now why should I go for Nether Drake when everywhere I go it's full of them? Why should i spend all that time for quests when i can simply buy this beautiful mount? I haven't seen alot of them around.

So, here's my advice: Do the Shattered Sun Offensive dailies (for money, rep and nice items) and buy this beauty instead of working your ass just for one mount that so many people have.

Edit: I see that some people are complaining that it has no walking animation :| Here's a question: You buy your 280 FLIGHT speed mount to walk on the ground with it? The flying mount IS for flying dudes, it's like having a helicopter and use it on the streets :)

In fact this is the only mount that you can sell to a vendor for 500g. It's still the most expensive but when you want to change mounts u still get something in return so not a totally waste of money imo.
