I agree, and love the stamina on it.

I would still take the Archimonde shield over this, but if you read the comments over there the elemental shamans will downrank your comments so far that they rip out your heart and eat it for breakfast.

People forget that in T6 you are way past the minimum defense and avoidance needed to tank, and this shield is a superb threat upgrade from something like nightbane's shield, or even gruuls.

It is primarily the higher armor count on this shield that makes it more attractive. It is hard to explain, but imagine taking off the extra 1000 or so armor you get on this shield over others and turning into some other tanking stat. Basically the same thing. The 1000 extra armor is essentially its own stat if you are comparing it to the other shields.

Then look at the Archimonde shield with its 6330 armor. That's 400 more armor than this one, which is 440 after the armor talent. 440 armor benefits me alot more in an AOE situation than the 20 stamina difference between this shield and the Arch shield. Why? 440 armor reduces the size of each hit that I end up taking, and significantly reduces the overall damage I take, and lessens spike damage, in an AOE encounter (where I would be wearing the Arch shield). 20 stamina, on the other hand, gets used up in a single hit, and must be healed each time. I take much less damage and have much better survivability in an AOE situation like Mount Hyjal with the Archimonde shield over this shield.

For all intent and purposes I ignore the spell crit on the Arch shield. That is a minor threat upgrade, but I don't take it into account when deciding on the best shield for AOE tanking. The Archimonde shield is it, hands down, if you want to have spell damage. This shield is worse.

Of course, some silly poster seems to obsessed with making sure only elemental shamans get it. Screw worrying about who gets it, I am just explaining why the Archimonde shield is better than this one, and why this one is better than the gruul/nightbane/badge/zulaman shields.

(I can see why you'd want to down-rate this, but it's an excellent shield for two classes, and yet it doesn't seem to be on any loot tables yet, despite us being told it would be on T6 trash)

By the name of it it sounds like a Black Temple or Heroic Badge item, the new Zul'Aman loot seems to follow the mojo style versus Illidari.

It is rumored to already be in-game as BT trash mob loot but those who claim to have seen it have yet to give up an armory link or post a Screenshot.

Since the item level 141 is for BT Loots. Hyjal and Timed ZA rings and since it has illidari in the name, it makes since this would be a BT loot (non-Illidan) - probably trash

The item level for Badges and normal ZA loot (non-Zul'jin) is 128

Zul'jin item levels are 138

Non-ring timed ZA loots and badge weapons are 132

The Illidari Runeshield model is a variant of the Netherwing Protector/Defender shield graphics. It has a rust-red treatment on the trim and dark brown horns, with the same dark gray/green center as the two existing shields.

The Illidaran symbol in the center is modified from the two previous designs in that it's smaller and includes a new circular design element, with a line of small runes arcing above it.

We had it drop twice last night in BT from trash. First time was from the mobs just before Shade of Akama's room, second time was just outside of Teron Gorefiends room. Both went, grudgingly, to paladins (myself and the guild master).

Definitely good for tanking AoE packs, also nice for soloing as a holy paladin.

A well-itemized tier 6 content shield that appeals to several classes/roles, especially to both elemental shaman and tanking paladins. As an elemental shaman myself, this is an excellent holdover until the higher dps upgrade Antonidas's Aegis of Rapt Concentration off Archimonde. Again, from a shaman perspective, when you consider that a prominent theme of tier 6 content is pure and simple survival through a variety of ongoing and near-one-shot damage effects, Illidari Runeshield provides a huge boost to your survivability in addition to good caster dps stats.

Prot Palas running T6 instances don't care much about Int and the 34 spell damage hardly make up for the total lack of avoidance stats on this shield. Kaz Hardened Heart > This.

Concerning Elemental Shamans, this is not even an upgrade over https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=29268 damage-wise but since there's no other real alternative, other than Arena and an Archimonde drop, one might pick it up for the nice stamina boost. Other than that, it's diss material.

This is pali tanking shield, period. And it's good.

Give the Archimonde shield to an elemental shaman. If a Pali tank wants the Archi shield over an elemental shaman then it is being selfish. MaxDPS lists the Archi Shield as the #1 shield for the slot.

Kaz's heart is not better than this shield for Pali tanks. Pali tanks don't need hit rating for threat, they use Spell Power, and if they are in a position to get this shield they can probably get away with not having Defense on EVERY item.

Added a screeny, it looks exactly the same as the one you get from the netherwing quests, but has a dark red outer edge.
And has better stats. Durrr.

It's not listened but my guild had one dropped of the Behemoth's in the trash to Bloodboil a few nights ago.

Drops off BT trash mobs, generally the ones between Supremus and couple bosses after him (bloodboil, gorefiend etc). Nice shield for pally tank or elemental shaman while waiting for the one from Archimonde.

Shaman DPS-wise this is pretty much same as the badge reward shield, but this has a truckload more survivability in the form of armor and stamina.
