I found the best place to find these are in the swamp of sorrows. Just follow around the edge, near the mountains, and you'll find plenty.

There's also a fair amount in Stranglethorn Vale, along with Khadgar's Whisker and Liferoot

The locs in Stonetalon I'm fairly certain are _Briarthorn_ not Goldthorn, as I've been through there often, recently, having gained Artisan in both Herbalism and Alchemy.

If you are looking for safety, then visit arathi highland, pretty easy to run away from gankers and mobs there.

I defy u to get the Goldthorn at51,35 Feralas. I jumped around fo 20 min to try and get up there no way Jose!

Like earthroot, this stuff seems to grow on rocky outcroppings (moderate hills).

One thing's for sure. It's almost always in the most dangerous places. You won't just waltz up and collect it. You've got to clear a number of lvl 35+ first. If you're lvl 32, like me, you're better off buying it.

Definitly always in the hardest places and tough to get at level 33. People charge a fortune in the AH but I guess I understand why...

managed to navigate STV fairly easy with my twinked 29rogye from booty bay all the way north gathering Goldthorn for my agility elixir...spent an hour 30 getting 23 plus other stuff..well worth it ,killed a 34 Hordy rogue on the way
Use stealth and vanish at the right times you will be fine
If you are twinked up ure dodge rating is so good the lev 38 or less mobs miss a lot and u can run away ..or if u meet higher level (who sees you in stealth mode ) use vanish at right time and u will be ok
For non stealth charecters at 29 or less i would say u mite be able to gather in the north around Nessingarys Camp..but think it would be very tough
Toughest for me was avoiding killing the mobs and gaining xp!

I see a good deal of it in Arathi Highlands, so you should try there.. Being level 24, it's hard for me to get the stuff! XD

So, if you're on Horde side Runetotem and you see a naked blood elf mage running about, thats just me and something is probably chasing me.

theres loads of this stuff in arathi highlands, along with large amounts of bruiseweed and kingsblod, any herb. above 180 will have a party here

I am a 34 druid and usually when i am in arathi or STV i have trouble finding this stuff. all i usually see is liferoot or bruiseweed. anyone have any other good places to get some herbs like this?

I've noticed that Goldthorn tends to On little hills up in the mountains, For me the best place anyways, thats where i've had that best luck, Again, Up on little hills or up in the mountains a little ways is the best for me ( If you're in STV)

Arathi zone 'edges' is also another viable option.

You can find them on the sides of hills, just look for anywhere with a rocky texture.

Best places to find them are in STV and Swamp of Sorrows.

Ok, everything I check that says it drops this is a per or critter, and never have loot. Is this actually ever found as loot and if so, anyone know what drops it?

I found that Goldthorn was found far less than i expected, in Stranglethorn Vale, i went out there expecting large amounts but i only found 3 not 3 stacks but x 3 in fact i found more Liferoot out there i almost hit a round stack out htere but i couldnt find goldthorn to save my life i even turned my herb tracker on on Metamap addon and i could not find a node other than the one i found by myself

Accoring to the Gatherer add-on, I've found most of my Goldthorn in the Eastern Kingdoms: Stranglethorn Vale, Badlands, Arathi Highlands...
I've yet to find a place with as much Goldthorn as say, Blindweed in the Swamp of Sorrows: a lot of running around in several areas is probably required to gather suitable stacks of this herb. Stick to mountain ranges and hillsides.

As of today, Arathi Highlands was a waste of my time. I found lots of Khadgar's Whisker, Wild Steelbloom, and Fadeleaf, but very little Goldthorn. I actually had better luck finding these while I was farming Blindweed in Swamp of Sorrows. They pop up on the rocks on the outter edges of the map.
