When you have the quest, the drop rate on this key is not terrible. Expect to kill between 10-30 ogres before you get the key.

Easily soloed as a 42 warlock. You'll have plenty of room to fear-kite the patrolling ogres around. The key dropped on the fourth kill.

Don't know if the quest has changed lately, but yesterday, me and two friends had 100 % droprate from Ogre Lords, on different occations.

Before killing the Ogre Lord, I killed 40 something ogres without the key droping. Having had it from the OL, I told the two friends, who got it first OL kill.

Having that said, being 49, I got some really nice drops and xp from the other ogres killed. So it wasn't a complete waste of time ...

Like most are saying, the drop rate on this key is either very good...or (like for me) extremely horrendous

It's a good thing they're 250+ exp a pop, otherwise I'd just quit the game

I envy those who got it just out of ... 30 ogres ... Never done this quest when the ogres were elites, but in the non-elite version it took me about .... a lot as a lvl 42-43 (leveled up in the process ) mage ... 76 ogres to be more exact ... How lucky can you get for a 1st kill drop ? :/

The drop rate is horrible to say the least and the ogres still have a big aggro range, spellcasters spam lightning bolts and drop rather powerfull healing totems while the melee ones use thunderclap (can stack). I wouldn't advise taking on more then 2 at lvl 40-45.

i think they may have upped the drop rate to 100%, i know it seems odd but me and my friend both did the quest at different times and both got it from our first kill. anyone have official confirmation?

Last time i did this quest, i had it drop on the 1st kill. Now i'm doing it again on my warrior, i killed over 50 before getting it.

I got this key exactly on the 27th Ogre I killed. Got it from a
Warmonger to be exacy.
Fairly nice quest because it forces you to grind.
Might be boring but still, worth the EXP if you ask me.

Did this as a level 44 Draenei Shaman.

Top comment is pretty correct, mindlessly killed ogres for about 20 minutes before it randomly dropped off of a warmonger.

23 kills before it dropped, so prepare to spend a bit of time on the quest. It's a pretty nice reward for how easy it is compared to some of the other drop quests in the area. (Elder Gorilla Sinew anyone?)

Out of all the the millions of ppl playing wow and leveling characters this non elete ogre has only been killed once? Use your logic and come to the concusion that it doesnt exist, always look at the % drop on the mobs with the highest recorded kills, far more accurate.

It dropped for me on 5th kill.. im a 41 lock.. doing this solo was easy enough.. just kill the ones outside the cave running around..

I killed dozens of these guys, had help too for a while and no drop. I'm almost now to the point where the quest will turn gray, so it's likely I won't bother to finish this one (unless it leads to something better). I can't use the shield which is the quest prize, and the value of selling it isn't much to make it worth the bother. I can understand a low drop-rate on something really worth getting, but this is just a minor quest. It's quite possible they simply set it too low by mistake.

killed over 50 ogres still no drop. killing the ogres is easy (im a 45 draenei shammy) basically stayed up til 1:30 farming the stupid things and no drop. said f it!

yeah, like the unfortunate half of the rest of the posts on this item, i've killed 3 or 4 dozen ogres and still no drop. and killing these things isn't that easy for a 43 hunter either... very boring quest. :/

Got this key at my 1st kill, pretty lucky, even dont needed the quest so much, just walked to rebel camp.. then I think " hmm, lets just kill one" 44 hunter, rested, got 900xp.

I'm sure it is entirely random, but after killing quite a few of various sorts, I thought I'd try the advice here. 47,25, Warmonger dropped it. Seems like a coincidence, but worth a try.

Has anyone noticed that, if you right click the key, the cursor glows as if it could actually be used? I haven't tried it yet, but if someone were to have Maury's clubbed foot, and if another person were to possess the key, I'm wondering if the foot would unlock. It's worth a try. Tell me what happens.

Second Ogre Kill at 48,25. From recent comments either the drop rate is better, People are getting luckier... Or maybe people are getting smarter and killing the right mobs =P

I didn't get any drops until I went in the cave and fought the lord. He dropped it the first time.

They are non elites now after 2.3, and probably have a higher droprate as i killed 40 or more elites to get it with my hunter, and it dropped from 3rd mob now. might be luck but i dont know.

Anyways, to do this quest go kill Orges around 45.31.

Mine dropped from a warmonger ( which is the melee ones )

Easy kills as they aint elites. as level 40 shadowpriest i could pull 2-3 of them.

Got mine after 5 kills on the outside (not in the cave)
But it doesnt matter where you get it its just a random drop off any of the mobs

Well I counted, it took me 94 ogres to get the key. I was slightly bored. The Warmongers are probably the easiest targets, followed by shamans, who while although are higher level, also can be easily interrupted and basically suck! Beware of Lords who hit like trains.

Killed over 150 ogres and it took over an hour, but I finally got the key.

For the love of God Blizzard, PLEASE INCREASE THE DROP RATE OR GIVE A BLUE ITEM REWARD.
