People mess with data being sent to thottbot all the time. Thats why you sometimes see a stationary mob shown at a bunch of diferent points on a map, for instance. Anything obviously silly (like disenchanting fish - jeez, I'm laughing as I type that) can be ignored.

Let's clear this up: disenchanting means taking things out of bloated fish. You don't need any skill to do it. The fish will say "right click to open", like with clams or boxes, and when you do, it "disenchants" to the items listed on the page.

So all you enchanters can calm down, no one is screwing with your minds.

What happens is everyone trades in the main cities. When people are trading nearby someone next to them (most likely at the mailbox) is either picking stuff up from the mail box or disenchanting essences. Thott being a "bot"... being a "not human-ly smart machean" can't tell the difference between stuff that has droped because it was extracted from an item and stuff that has dropped from a trade window or mailbox.
Therefore lots of things are listed as Disenchantable but all it really means is that MOST of the things reported as results from a DE, are simply things that were traded or retrieved from a mail box.

Another thing is, if you trade certain items to someone with a trade skill in eng, tailoring or leather working, they most likely can make something of green or better quality and DE THAT to trade back to you which would probably be counted by thotbot as a DE.

Hope this cleared everything up for everyone.

It is annoying, I wish they would fix it. So people would stop asking me to DE random things like fish. :(

Ok, Here's the real deal (and the above poster was a little correct as well). The real reason there are disenchant values on this fish, is for only 2 reasons. The clam and the box. Sometimes when you get a clam, you open it up and (most of the time get clam meat) get a pearl. But sometimes while opening it you get clam meat and a fish, hense the reason it is in the disenchants to. Or really rather from. The clam is being disenchanted into a piece of clam meat, pearl, and maybe a bristle whisker catfish.

The other reason is from the box (or tightly sealed trunk) you catch these fishing sometimes. When you open it, you get a random amount of items, usually a few copper or silver, some kind of leather, and some kind of cloth (usually in bolt form). And you might get a fish inside the box as well. So the data is coming from the "Disenchant value" of the box, from it being opened.

Hope this clears everything up for everyone, I know its annoying, its just something you learn to ignore. Nothing, that isn't at least green (armor or weapon) can be disenchanted.

But if you doubt me, go right ahead and keep trying to disenchant those poor catfish, maybe you'll get an epic :P

There is about a 60% catch rate in Ashenvale just west of splintertree post in Falfarren River

You cannot catch a Bristle Whisker Catfish with fishing. Search Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish and you can see where they are fished from.
