Seems like the Rock Elementals to the south drop it 100%. I was very unsuccessful with the Rock Elementals to the north.

I've killed 8 of these, which seems like 20 of them, and gotten one piece. Still hate badlands, because of the tight "population" with mobs everywhere. AND they parry, dodge and crap more than I hit, so it kinda pisses me off with a slower weapon.

well i just finished killing in upwards of 30 rock elementals near kargath. but when i went to the southern part of the badlands that's where i got all 3 in a row first shot.

killed 1, he dropped it, killed second, he didn't but dropped a green item, third and fourth dropped it again. All north side of badlands

The drop rate for me was about 50%. Just make sure that you are killing "Rock Elementals" and not "Lesser Rock Elementals".

Horrible droprate... Been there fighting "Rock Elementals" for about 30 minutes.

But the stuff they drop vendors really well. Made about 3.5G fighting these.

3 for 3 right above kargath. I ran through it at 5 am server time and killed some lowbies right in front of the kargath guards, too.

The first one dropped, the second one didn't, and the two other one did.

Killed 3 - got the 3 drops at 36,75 in the south badlands. Make sure you have the regular rock elemental - not the greater ones nor the lesser ones.

You just need to make sure that you're killig off the "Rock Elementals" Not the "Lesser Rock Elementals"

I got all 3 of mine near Karg as well, no problems.

lol, on my priest I got all three of them in a row, but on my warrior, who is now 70, got them with like a .05 % chance

Ok this quest is pretty simple and easy, and also short. Just go kill the Rock elementals not Lesser rock elementals in Southern Badlands, me myself had a 100% drop chance

I think the drop rate shows that crappy cuz so many people kill them without the quest.

This quest took me around 2 minutes. Drop rate was 100% and the exp. good =]

I killed 3 of these and got 3 Large Stones for the quest.

To get Nifty Stopwatch, you need to complete:

Gyro... What? requires Gyrochronatom.
Coolant Heads Prevail requires Frost Oil.
Study of the Elements: Rock by killing Lesser Rock Elemental for Small Stone Shard.
Study of the Elements: Rock by killing Rock Elemental for Large Stone Slab.
Study of the Elements: Rock by killing Greater Rock Elemental for Bracers of Rock Binding.
This unlocks This Is Going to Be Hard which leads to This Is Going to Be Hard which awards Nifty Stopwatch.

Keep in mind, the quest items drop off of specific mobs, so don't kill the other ones when you're doing each quest.

You can complete the other optional item turn in quests for Lucien Tosselwrench, but this is not necessary to complete the chain:

Liquid Stone requires Healing Potion and Lesser Invisibility Potion.
Stone Is Better than Cloth requires Patterned Bronze Bracers.
