well i got a rogue to open this for me..
and what i got is a blue item
Girdle of Golem Strength
he opened 2x of my iron lockbox and i recieved 2 of them lol
it freaked me out.. so yeah good luck on blue items inside the box of luck ;D

You have to ask a rouge to open it.
and he has to have good lock pick skillz

I open it on lvl 85...

the guy that could not open it at 85 was proably trying to unlock a strong iron lockbox

I opened one with 102 skill so whoever is saying 135+ is not talking about an iron lockbox.

Ha ha ive seen at least 7 dif lvls from the comments. So sombody that can prove it please tell me. Yes a Golen Skelaton key works.

This may be a stupid question, but how much would someone opening this expect to be tipped?

they would expect atleast 300g (if you are on eonar and find tixine) other wise about 1g

Opened with blacksmithing (178) Paladin (35), made the "Golden Skeleton Key" and opened "Iron Lockbox".

iv never gotten 1 myself but jsut curious what was in it... (highest lockbox i ever found was heavy bronze) and jsut curious but do u think u culd get a lockbox from a chest? lol

I had a rogue in Ironforge open this, I got a Kalediscope Chain.... The bad part is that I equipped it not thinking, it was currently better than my necklace, but I'm soon going to be wearing Triune Amulet... So I basicly wasted it. The box dropped off those basilisks in Desolace.

Lockboxes can be opened by rogues using the Pick Lock skill learned at level 16. Your max level lockpicking skill is determined by the level of your character. The basic formula is 'char level x 5'. So, a level 16 rogue will have a max lockpicking level of 80, a 17 rogue would be 85 and so on up to a (currently) maximum of 300.

The lockboxes can also be opened by using a key created by blacksmiths. *NOTE You have to have the blacksmithing skill to use the keys.

The rough table below shows the minimum lockpicking skill level required to open each type of lockbox and which blacksmith skeleton key will open it (if possible).
