Having killed over a hundred of both types of mobs that are supposed to drop the book, I question its existence.

I think you have to have completed 'Cave Mushrooms' and 'Onu' for this to drop as I farmed for it a little before I did these and it didnt appear and when I had completed these quests it dropped on the second of the mobs. Basically I think you have to be on (or completed) the quest where Onu at the Grove of Ancients gives you a scrying phial which is a follow up to the quest 'Cave Mushrooms' which you can get in Auberdine. Hope this helps.

Drop rate is extremely low, killed 28 mobs until it drops.

Still drops. I went for it today, took me about 30 kills.

This does still drop in classic era, I just got it. I wasn't counting kills, but it must have been over 50 though & probably closer to 100! (not exaggerating) Keep at it!

:Edit: 6/9/2023:- Dropped in first 10 kills on an alt.... random is random!

I've killed 116 Disciples and 112 Thugs. Still nothing.

After about 100 kill finally drop! in SoD! no other requirements, just turn the book in Ironforge and take your gold!

Season of Discovery: I don't know how many hundreds I killed, but I ended with 132 wool and 111 linen. But it did drop.

I wish I read these comments before I started working on this quest. I started killing these at level 18. Currently I'm 7 bars into level 20. Out of principle, I am planning to grind these all the way up to lv25 unless they drop the book before that.

Edit: got it to drop when i was 6 bars into level 21. In total, I got nearly 3 and a half levels total killing these until it dropped.
